I wrote this because I am stuck with my lemon (for Anticipation) – never thought it would be so difficult to write a good steamy one! – and the idea popped into my head while I was listening to my iPod on my way to work! When I got there, I first went through some other stories, they are a total inspiration, especially Nerweniel’s “Staying Alive” – which I read in total on Fanfiction.net. Hope you’ll enjoy it!
School was over for the students: summer recess had started. They had all left, taking their noises, pranks and books with them, leaving their professors behind. The professors had to take care of last minute things, like cleaning their schoolrooms, making lesson plans for next year and read up on their subjects before their well-deserved holidays would begin.
Albus, being Headmaster, but not teaching, had given his room a good cleaning, without help from Dobby or Winky and was now sitting at his desk, going through some Minestry letters. He was utterly bored and if that wasn’t bad enough, all of his professors, including his beloved Minerva, were too busy to keep him company. He hated to admit it, but Albus really liked having people around and being alone in his room, with only Fawkes to talk to, he felt rather lonely.
Listening to Fawkes’ song, that resembled notes from “Fields of gold” he came up with a brilliant idea. He took out a piece of parchment and started to write.
Rolanda Hooch, all sweaty from a one-on-one game, returned to her quarters, where she found a large, pink piece of parchment. She picked it up and while she read, she started to smile brightly. She walked over to her music collection and got to work.
Pomona Sprout opened the door to Greenhouse number Three and found a similar pink piece of parchment. Placing it before her, she pulled out some weeds and read the message. A look of joy appeared on Pomona’s face and she raised her arms above her head and started to sing.
Filius Flitwick was reading up on the Troll-wars. That Kameo-girl had been quite something… he thought to himself, imagining the fairy, giving her black hair and an impossible waistline. He was interrupted by the arrival of an owl, who dropped a pink piece of parchment in his lap. A bit reluctant to let go of his fantasy, Filius picked up the parchment. When he was done reading, he scratched his head and walked over to the closet that held his records.
Poppy Pomfrey was clearing her medicine cabinet when a house-elf showed up beside her. She took the pink parchment from the little tray and read the good tidings. When the elf had gone, Poppy started to look around for her sheetmusic and was soon to be found at her small piano that stood in the corner of her sick-bay.
The parchment also made its way to the kitchen, where it was found by Dobby and Winky who were just having a cup of tea. Winky’s face lit up and Dobby was happy to see her smiling again, so he agreed to be of assistance.
All these good reactions reached Albus’ room and he was very happy to get such a good response to his idea. Once again he read what he had put down and send to all professors, including Hagrid.
“My dear collegues and friends,” it started, “The schoolyear is over and we have worked our way through some difficult times. Now is the time for some entertainment. Thinking along these lines, I have come up with the perfect ending of the year: Idols – Hogwarts style!!!
This Friday, in the Great Hall, starting around eight o’clock!
Sing a song and be a winner!
Yours sincerely,
The Judge Albus Dumbledore He wrote down the names of the ones he was sure of would compete: Rolanda Filius Poppy Pomona Serena (?) Snape (?) He crossed out this last name and got up from his desk. “I can’t do the judging on my own,” he thought, “I need a second in command…” He went through the door, looking for Minerva.
He found her in her classroom, reading ‘Witch Vogue”, the pink parchment sat on the left corner of her desk. He looked at her from the doorway, thinking about how beautiful she was. Now she didn’t have to teach, she was wearing her casual robes and her hair in a less strict bun. She was absorbed in her magazine and he often wondered what she saw in that particular one. She was so practical and looked her best in simple outfits (well, preferably without outfit), what was the attraction of stick-thin models wearing clothes that made no sense at all?
“Hmm hmm…” he cleared his throat as not to startle Minerva. “Darling! I read the parchment. An idea only you could come up with, of course.” She smiled brightly at him. “I take that as a compliment, I think…” he replied to her comment. “Naturally, always…” Minerva grinned a little mischievously. “I was wondering, my dear, if you would do me the honour of judging with me…” Minerva shook her head. “No… no thank you, Albus. I would much rather watch.” Albus bowed. “If that is what you want, that is what you’ll do.” he said gracefully and pulled his lover up from her chair, into his arms. He kissed her soundly.
“That is not going to change my mind, you know.” Minerva said when he finally let her up for air. “Worth a try.” He replied, smiling. Without much further ado, he left the room, leaving a mysteriously looking Minerva behind.

I thought I'd better update soon, though I have to disappoint you: no singing Snape...
He had picked out his outfit for the night and was combing his long silver hair. The last few days he had heard many different styles of music in the corridors and from several greenhouses. He was very glad he had come up with this idea and even more glad that he didn’t have to sing. He was aware that he was the greatest wizard of all times, but singing was not one of his talents.
He had not seen much of Minerva since he had issued the festivities. He had not thought about all the organizing that took an event like this. He was happy about the turn-out though. The choices the different professors had made, were great and he was looking forward to a lovely night.
Albus had had a difficult time to find other judges, but finally both Snape and Hagrid had agreed to judge. Hagrid had jumped to the opportunity, loving any type of feast. As long as there was pumpkinjuice and a few chocolate frogs, and dancing after, Hagrid was happy to do anything! Snape had been a different matter altogether… Happiest in his classroom, far in the basements of the castle, he didn’t enjoy any type of festivities. Especially where people would make absolute fools of themselves. But with some twisting and complimenting, Albus had convinced Severus it was for the good of the school, the teachers and indeed for himself to get out of his cave now and then.
He went down the wide staircase and into the Great Hall, which was decorated with discoballs and coloured lights. A table was sitting close to the stage and he took his seat between Snape and Hagrid. Every teacher was present, including Serena Sinistra and Sybil Trelawny. He was very glad Sybil wasn’t on the list of contenders, he had heard her sing before and it had almost knocked him out cold.
He looked at the sheet before him and saw that Rolanda was first to start. He stood up, asked for silence and started his announcement.
“Dear ladies and gentlemen! Welcome! This night is unlike any other night we have ever seen in this castle. We will see some outstanding performances by several of our beloved collegues. When all of them have performed their song, we will ask you to vote. This can be done on the pieces of parchment we have put next to your seats. Some owls will come to collect them and the results will be known in less than fifteen minutes after the closing of the vote. The prize for winning Idols – Hogwarts style, is eternal honour and glory and in case of a female winner, a kiss from the head of the jury. That would be me!
Let the games begin, with Rolanda Hooch, as P!nk!”
The stage had been dark, but suddenly there was a lot of light and even some smoke as Rolanda appeared as P!nk. The band started playing their well-rehearsed version of “Get the part started” and Rolanda gave it her all. Dancing and singing she enchanted her audience: professors, house-elfs and even Filch. When Rolanda was done, she had warmed up the crowds, as well as herself. Under loud applause, she walked over to the judges.
“Ms. Hooch…” Hagrid started, completely in his role of a judge, “Your performance was no less than radiant! Congratulations!” Rolanda bowed happily “Rolanda, I don’t see why you would want to make such a fool of yourself, but when it comes to fool, there is no surpassing you…” Snape made his Simon-like mark on his judging. On his comment, Rolanda stuck out her tongue to him, turned around and went to sit next to Serena Sinistra to watch the rest of the show.
Albus got up to announce the next performer. “Ladies and gentlemen: Filius Flitwick!”
Filius walked upon the scarcely lit stage with an enormous electrical guitar and pulled the mike-stand down to his – for lack of a better word – height. A band of long haired men appeared on stage and after counting to four, Filius went for it. The coolest sounds ever to have been heard came together in his rendition of Eric Clapton’s “Layla”, profusely not unplugged! The solo bounced against the old stone walls, leaving some of the professors a little stunned, especially the elderly professors for Charms and Runes, who were not used to the delightful noises an electrical guitar could produce.
After the song had ended, Filius stood by the jury’s table and waited for the comments. “What can I say really…” Snape started, “What an absolute racket! Filius, what made you choose this particular song?” Filius smiled. “To show off, naturally.” Albus smiled. “Well done, I had never thought you could play like this.” Filius smiled back, gave his guitar to a bandmember and sat down between the audience.
“Now it is time for some refreshments.” Albus clapped in his hands and bottles of Butterbeer appeared as well as little jars of Gillywater and pumpkinjuice, sandwiches and all sorts of nibbles. A big bowl of crisps appeared in front of Albus, who tied his beard together and took some in his hand.
The crowd was having fun, he could tell from the chattering. He searched for Minerva and when he saw her, she was talking to Rolanda and Poppy. He tried to catch her eye, but failed. Hagrid had gotten up from the table and helped with the changing of decorations on the stage. The next song would be all about the performer…

Thank you for the reviews! I am verrrrrrry happy you like what I am writing!!! I needed the encouragements, though “If you are ready, ladies and gentlemen… I give you: Pomona Sprout!” A spot was lit in the middle of the stage, nothing but a microphone stand stood there. A tape started to play and Pomona took her place. “You’re no good, heartbreaker… you’re lie-er and a cheat… and I don’t why, I let you do these things to me…” I never loved a man (the way I loved you) rolled over the heads of the spectators, sending shivers down their spines. They were of course all aware of Pomona’s excellent voice, but getting it on display like this, gave the whole audience the sensation of an intimite concert. “I ain’t never, no no no no… loved a man, the way that I, I love-a you.” The last notes died away and the entire crowd applauded for their lives. Cheers and whistles were heard, several professors stood up from their seats, including Rolanda. Pomona wiped the tiny drops of sweat from her forehead and went to the judge’s table. Hagrid was still wiping tears from his eyes and was unable to speak. Snape had pulled up one eyebrow and shook his head. “A little over the top there, Pomona.” he said, disapprovingly. “Why you teach here is a mystery to me, you should be in the Royal Albert Hall, my dear.” Albus said sincerely. The audience clapped again, moved and touched as they were by Pomona’s performance. “I am aware of the great pressure that is now upon the frail shoulders of our respected medi-witch: Poppy Pomfrey!” Poppy conjured up a piano and sat down. She cracked the bones in her fingers and took a deep breath. Soft sounds came from the piano and with her soft voice she sang “Songbird”. The little, sweet song stood in great contrast with Pomona’s Aretha Franklin imitation, but it brought many a tear to the eyes of the viewers. She too went to the judges to hear how she had done. Hagrid was blowing his nose in a big red handkerchief, muttering words like: “Beautiful” and “Sweet”. Snape’s nose seemed to be crumpled up like had just smelled something bad, like boiled dragon’s liver and Albus said nothing, but: “That was very beautiful, Poppy, thank you.” Poppy nodded and took back her seat, after chasing a house-elf from it. “Ladies and gentlemen, there are two more performances tonight, the one now coming: Dobby and Winky, the House-Elfs!” Bright coloured lights were lit on the stage, as well as some candy-coloured decorpieces. Dobby and Winky were wearing tailored pillowcases in pastel pink and blue and they were standing there, waiting for the music to start. When the music started, the audience cheered and got up from their chairs. Any version of “The Locomotion” is reason to party! The little elfs were giving their all and had a lot of fun. It was good to see Winky happy. The audience clapped their hands until they burned and cheered: “Well done Dobby! Well done Winky!!!” Shyly they stood in front of the Headmaster, who was smiling at the pair. “That was very well done, my dear Dobby and Winky! We are very proud, aren’t we Hagrid?” “Indeed we are, Professor, very proud. Like the outfits!” Hagrid added. Holding hands, the two elfs left to sit with their friends. All the lights in the Great Hall were dimmed now the Headmaster was moving his wand around. The chattering subsided in curiosity. “Ladies and gentlemen… I have told you that there was one other performance tonight. This is indeed so, though we were not informed who was going to be the performer. Just a little piece of parchment, that said: ‘I would like to perform” was brought to me by a little owl this morning. So, without much further ado, I will give you now our mystery performer!” He clapped his hands and the audience joined him, as they stared at the stage that was peculiarly lit. Only the bottom half of the stage was bathing in light, as the top was covered in smoke. Hope you like that for a cliffhanger ;D

Many thanks to: Kankulex Minervaalbus06 Furandfeathers Lemonygingersnaps Lamenting Quill And everybody who took a little time to read my story: I am so grateful! Thanks for encouraging me!
Now, without much further ado:
A brighter light was now searching for something and out of nowhere a pair of legs appeared. A pair of truly fabulous legs. Filius thought of his fantasy of Kameo and shook his head in disbelief. The first bars of the music started to play. The legs moved slowly towords the front of the stage, showing more and more leg, trapped in a black leather miniskirt. The light now was growing larger to show the slender waistline and ample busum of the woman who was sensually moving to the music. Then the light hit the woman’s face as she started to sing:
“I call you when I need you, my heart’s on fire You come to me, come to me, wild and wild You come to me, give me everything I need
Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams Speak the language of love like you know what it means And it can’t be wrong, take my heart and make it strong, baby
You’re simply the best! Better than all the rest, better than anyone, Anyone I’ve ever met I’m stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you said Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead
In your heart I see the start and every night of every day In your eyes I get lost, I get washed away Just as long as I am here in your arms I could be in no better place
You’re simply the best! Better than all the rest, better than anyone, Anyone I’ve ever met I’m stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you said Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead
It’s the time that you leave me that I start losing controle, you’re walking away with my heart and my soul I can feel you even when I’m alone, oh baby, don’t let go!
You’re simply the best! Better than all the rest, better than anyone, Anyone I’ve ever met I’m stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you said Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead, ohhh, you’re the best!”*
Complete silence fell when the music stopped. The audience looked at each other in disbelief. Than, as one man, they clapped, cheered and went bezerk. “Did you ever think Minerva would dó anything like this?” Rolanda asked Poppy, while standing on her chair, clapping her hands until they bruised. “Never!” Poppy replied, meanwhile whooping. Even Sybill Trelawny was squeeling in admiration. Albus shook his head, his eyes twinkling like mad. Hagrid had stood up and made noises hardly respectful towards a professor. Snape just sat in his chair, dumbfounded.
With one last swoosh of her long, wavy ebony hair Minerva left the stage and stood in front of the jury, a tiny smile on her severely red lipsticked lips.
Snape shook his head, still unable to speak. Even if he had the words, there was no way he would have enough power in his voice to reach over the still crazy public. Since Hagrid was still making his noises – which were maybe not respectful, but let her know what he meant. Albus just took her hand, kissed it and whispered, only so she could hear: “That outfit is killing me, I don’t think I should get up…” On which Minerva winked at him.
When all the noise finally subsided, Albus did get up however and he asked the audience to vote. In the fifteen minutes that followed, people went to the bathrooms and to talk to each other, mainly about the sudden transformation of their Transfiguration teacher. Only Pomona, Rolanda and Poppy were aware of this unknown factor in their friend’s character, for they had been in school together, many years before – she would do impersonations like that, especially if the gillywater had hit a certain spot, but they had never guessed that she would actually do it in public, in front of everybody? Including Albus? A true Gryffyndor indeed!
“The results are in!!!” Albus announced and all the performers were summoned back to the stage. “In third place: Dobby and Winky!!!” the two little elfs bowed and laughed happily. “In second place… Poppy Pomfrey!” Poppy curtsied ill-at-ease. “And now, for the first prize, there is a bit of a twist, I had not taken into account…” A flick of his wand and the stage was covered in glitters and golden decorations. “A tie: Pomona and Minerva!” he said in a triumphant voice. The two women hugged each other and were overwhelmed by the applause from their viewers.
That night, after all the festivies had died down and everybody had gone back to their quarters, Minerva knocked on Albus’ door. Without waiting for an answer, she entered the room, finding Albus sitting on his sofa, sucking on a sherbert lemon. When he saw her, his jaw dropped. He got up from his comfortable place and enveloped Minerva in his arms. “I thought you’d better not get up…” she asked, her eyes shining. “Hmm, only to get down with you, my dear…” and he started to kiss her senseless.
*This song is obviously: The Best, by Tina Turner
