"I apologize to the lady Dumbledore for my bad actions, but I did feel my life was endangered. It was just just a bit of hot air." The dragon blew a puff of smoke to prove to the headmaster that 'the lady Dumbledore' had not been hurt - only made uncomfortable. He then looked in her direction and, with a bow, said "I hope you will forgive me, Mrs. Dumbledore."
Minerva brushed her hands across her bum and lower her glance to the floor. "I guess it was some sort of misunderstanding. I'm sorry I didn't notice you." She quietly added "My name is Minerva McGonagall. The headmaster and I are not romantically involved. He is just a friend."
The dragon raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Dumbledore is most fortunate to have such a beautiful friend. However, I feel he has no business staring at your backside like a schoolboy, does he?" Minerva felt the color rise in her cheeks and she whirled around to face her friend and employer who seemed a little red in the face himself.
"I was just making sure your skirt wasn't damaged, my dear," he said and gave a faint smile. Minerva looked unconvinced for a moment, but said nothing. Albus turned his attention to his new guest. "Excuse me. I'm sorry, but what was your name again?" He wanted more than anything to get off the topic of Minerva.
"Ramen Udon Soba. I know it's hardly common. My carver had an odd sense of humor." The dragon shrugged and settled down on a pillow. "He's done worse."
"I can see that," Minerva muttered. "The little lizard sort of looks like a noodle." She had accepted his apology, but she need not appreciate his insinuations about Albus. Why would anyone stare at her backside? She was far to old to be an object of anyone's sexual desire - even Albus. No, especially Albus. Why was everyone pushing the idea of she and Albus becoming a couple anyway?
"I am a dragon, Madam, not a lizard. I find the term demeaning. You did, however, stumble upon my carver's little joke. In the grand scheme of things, I suppose it could be worse. He did give more unfortunate names to other works of his. Oh, that poor phoenix..." The dragon, Ramen, looked at his companions with sorrow in his eyes. Fawkes, meanwhile, felt slightly nervous.
"Your artist had a phoenix?" Albus said with genuine interest.
"In a sense, yes. He created him. He flew around creating harmless sparks of magic which resembled fireworks. The phoenix was a New Year's gift for his oldest daughter, Shizuka, but he had given it the most horrible name," Ramen explained.
"What was the name?" Albus asked.
"The Kung Pow Chicken," Ramen said shaking his head. "In addition to being an artist, this man was a frustrated chef. He worked out some of his frustrations on us - his creations: Ramen Udon Soba, Kung Pow Chicken, Miso..."
"Who was Miso?" Minerva asked stifling a chuckle.
"His baby son Takashi's bath toy - an enchanted goldfish." Ramen answered with shame.
Minerva and Albus laughed and continued to talk with the dragon. Fawkes remained incensed at a phoenix being given such an atrocious name and Snitch was still unsure if she liked this new arrival.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, I wish to discuss some things with you privately. Once that is done, we can begin to design your training. It should not take long," Ramen said after some time had passed.
"Of course. Let's handle that matter now and then go to dinner. Minerva, I will pick you up at five to seven," Albus said as she turned to leave with Fawkes in tow. Snitch was sneaking off with her as well, but she didn't want to make Minerva yell again. It hurt her ears.
"Alright," Minerva answered.
"It's a date," Albus replied.
Ramen watched the seen with a knowing smile. This man had more to learn than dueling, and Soba Sensei was just the dragon to teach him.

Minerva hurried to her room, taking no notice of Snitch or Fawkes. She hurried along to her bedroom. When she arrived at her destination, she went directly to her bed and laid down. Fawkes perched on the headboard and listened to Minerva's complaints. She was so confused. How had her relationship with Albus changed so much in one afternoon? It was all Severus' fault. If he hadn't said what he did, none of the tension between Albus and herself would've come about. Tears began to slide down her face as she began to worry that she may never be able to be close to Albus again.
Minerva returned to reality when she felt a small warm body against her own. She open her eyes and found Snitch snuggled against her. The dog looked up and licked her face. She screamed, as usual, and jumped off the bed. She somehow managed to kick the dog off the bed in the process. The animal landed with a thud and a yelp. "Oh Merlin, I've killed it," Minerva groaned as she tentatively approached the dog.
In his office, Albus was not fairing much better.
"Headmaster, you must understand one thing about this form of dueling," Ramen said authoritatively.
Albus sighed. "I know my physical limitations, Mr. Soba. The point of my studying is to challenge myself, both physically and mentally." He was surprised that this little dragon was, in fact, a strict teacher. He wondered how much of this he could take.
"I have no doubts as to you physical or mental strength. I fact, I'm more concerned about your pretty Deputy than anything else." Ramen saw the lost look in Albus' eyes, so he simplified his statement. "As we have discussed, Japanese wizards' dueling is wandless. Therefore, it not only requires power, but great control and focus as well. Its study will strengthen the wandless magic you have, but it will become more difficult to control. They may cause you to act on those recurrent impulses everyone has when they feel drawn to do something and, for some reason, suppress that desire."
"So I should avoid thoughts of killing people and such. Please Mr. Soba, I assure you that I am in no way unstable, and I still don't see how Minerva could be at risk. I l..." Albus cut his sentence short and was taken aback by his own words. This was a surprise.
"Exactly how deep do your feelings for that woman go?" the dragon asked.
"To be honest, they've gotten a little shaken up recently. I seem to have developed a slight romantic notion involving Minerva. It will pass soon enough." Albus said trying not to blush. His little secret had been found out.
"Do you want it to?" Ramen asked as he perched on the edge of his teacup to take a sip.
"I beg your pardon!" Albus could not believe this dragon's boldness.
"I have a feeling that your affection for that lovely lady goes further than you realize. That has no direct bearing on your training, but it may prove awkward in a social sense when combined with a greater wandless capability. I wouldn't want you vanishing her clothes during staff meeting or changing her attire to something you find more... favorable... during dinner. In short, it will be harder for you to behave yourself." The dragon said as he wrestled with a tea biscuit. He manages one tiny bite before its size made him fall over backward.
"I have never had any desire to disrobe Minerva!" Albus insisted.
"Well, the way you were staring at her earlier would have caused such an event, or at least you would have lifted her skirt up past what you were enjoying the view of. How do you think she would've reacted to that. Think it over," Ramen said as he jumped on the tea biscuit to break it into manageable pieces.

Minerva could not help feeling guilty as she looked Snitch. Some of the dog's cuts had reopened and she was just as frightened as when she'd arrived at Hogwart's that afternoon. Minerva tried getting the dog to move so she could floo it to Poppy, but the animal wouldn't budge. She carefully approached the animal and knelt beside it. "Don't look at me like that. You know I didn't mean for you to get hurt," she said as she began to treat Snitch's injuries.
The dog didn't believe her and her expression said as much.
"I'm afraid of dogs. I screamed because I was started - incidentally, you do not belong on my bed. The kicking was involuntary. I had not been contemplating harming you at all. I was thinking about Albus." Minerva gave a sad sigh and then noticed how the dog had perked up at the mention of his name. "You like Albus, do you? Well, so do I. He's my closest friend and I don't know what I'd do without him." She began to tell the dog all about her friendship with Albus and her recent discomfort with their relationship. All the while, Snitch listened intently.
And so ended Minerva's fear of dogs.
Albus and Ramen met Minerva at exactly five to seven and they walked together to the Great Hall with Snitch and Fawkes tagging along. All were silent, engaged in examining their own thoughts which, unbeknown to any of them, were all centered on the same topic.
Fawkes was gliding along above everyone one unusually silent. He was keeping a sharp eye on his wizard and the one whom he considered his witch. Something was definitely wrong with them. Albus was so cold with Minerva. He was so formal. The bird quickly checked his memory to see if there had been a recent argument that he'd forgotten, but nothing came to mind. He then became convinced that it was all the work of that silly little lizard sitting on Albus' left shoulder. Ever since he showed up, nothing had been right between his humans. Fawkes then became absorbed in thinking up various ways to "dispose of the problem". Also dancing around the back of his mind was the thought that, perhaps, he should stop watching so much 'Sopranos'. Still, he kept a watchful eye on the dragon.
Snitch, who had learned some names and word during her talk with her new owner, noticed Albus' coldness toward Minerva as well and she did not like his new attitude. She had actually had to push his hand into Minerva's. She couldn't understand what had gone so wrong between them. They were never going to mate at this rate. She had known that it wouldn't happen instantly - humans, she'd heard, got a little strange when it came to mating - but she had expected some show of affection from Albus. She would just have to fix whatever had gone wrong. Then her focus shifted to that thing on Albus' shoulder. She didn't like that overgrown lighter one bit. She knew this all must be his fault. He would soon realize just how bad an idea pulling her humans apart was. She would make sure of it.
Ramen could see the pain written across the faces of the Headmaster and his Deputy Headmistress. He hadn't meant for Albus to change his behavior so drastically. He was hurting this woman more than helping her. The danger of Albus' feelings getting in the way would subside with training, but if he continued in this foolishness, he would break this woman's heart and lose her. Why was he so stubborn? The man, The Greatest Wizard of the Century, was mistreating the woman he cared about because he would not admit that he'd developed some interesting feelings for her somewhere along the way. He would have to fix this mess. He hated seeing a pretty woman cry.
The dragon also began to notice the vicious glances being sent to him by the dog and the phoenix. He would have to address this with Albus as well before he began the victim of an unfortunate accident.
Minerva looked over at Albus hoping that his body would give her some clues regarding his sudden lack of affection. She had searched her brain for something she had done to cause this. He hadn't even offered her his arm when he met her at her door - she'd just taken it out of habit. As her mind swirled with memories of how sweet Albus usually was, Minerva began to gently rub the back of his hand. Everyone stopped. "Albus," she said softly as she looked. His eyes had turned cold.
"Stop that, Professor," Albus snapped as he pulled away from her.
"Yes, Headmaster," Minerva answered. She was too hurt to fight this change any more. She let him slip away from both her hand and her heart. He just didn't care about her anymore. This had to be Severus Snape's fault and he would regret the moment he put this plan into action.
Albus felt terrible. He hated seeing Minerva unhappy and knowing that he was the cause of her pain was something he couldn't tolerate. He pulled away from her soft touch when all he wanted to do was return it with one of his known... preferably to an area other than her hand, but he couldn't risk taking her clothes off accidentally. If that happened, she'd never speak to him again. Though a small, tiny, insignificant part of him found the idea of seeing her naked quite appealing. Yes, naked laying in his bed with her hair spread messily on his pillow. Her sweet lips calling his name... He returned to earth when Ramen hit him in the side of the head and pointed to Minerva's back. A few of the buttons on the top of her robes were coming undone. He hurried to help her close them again. He started to smile at her when she turned to thank him, but then thought better of it and gave a sort of indifferent grunt and walked ahead of her.
As they came to the Great Hall, he turned to her and said "You will not be sitting beside me this evening, or for the foreseeable future. You will find a chair at the Slythern end of the staff table has been provided. I know of your fondness for your Gryffindors, but I'm sure you can eat without them."
Minerva didn't answer because she had no more words left in her. She did her best to maintain her strong facade as the group made their way to the staff table. She barely took notice of the small huddle of Slythern boys around her chair or the fact that they were led by Draco Malfoy. She listened numbly as both Snitch and Ramen were introduced and as Ramen gave a small speech. Albus signaled for everyone to sit and they complied in near unison.
Minerva sat down as well - right on top of a plateful of mashed potatoes which had been placed on her chair.

"Aghh!" Minerva cried as she felt something damp squish beneath her. Snitch rushed to her side. If she had to choose between Albus and Minerva, then she would stay with the Deputy Headmistress. She knew what abandonment felt like and knew that Minerva would need the company.
Minerva was enraged. Only that Potions Master would be obnoxious enough to make her sit on something and he'd just picked the wrong moment to be juvenile. She stood quickly and not-so-accidentally knocked Severus' piping hot cup of tea into his lap. She may have been single for many years, but she still knew where some of a man's more sensitive bits were located and her aim was very accurate.
"Are you mad, woman!" Snape squeaked as jumped from his chair and promptly fell to his knees clasping his crotch. The whole of Gryffindor house stood and gave a standing ovation to their Head of House.
"Look, Rolanda, it seems he has one after all," Minerva hissed so as not to be heard over the students' commotion caused by the events unfolding at the staff table.
"Yes, I've got one, you dizzy cow!" Snape retorted from the floor in a tone noticeably higher than usual, "Now what's this all about?" The staff table was in uproar as Albus began to make his way to his Deputy's side. He too was waiting for Minerva's answer.
"Who else would think it was funny to put mashed potatoes on my seat. You know the kind of day I've had. Honestly, how could you be so childish?" Minerva was so angry that she failed to notice the concern for her in Albus' eyes as he approached.
"Perhaps, your childish culprit was a child. You are surrounded by Slythern students who don't hold you in very high regard. Malfoy and company seemed to be hovering around your seat before you got to it and I was nowhere in sight. I think you should be more careful before you go attacking people. Not exactly a pillar of maturity yourself." Snape grumbled as he staggered to his feet still clutching his crotch.
"What is the meaning of this, Professor? Let me remind you that you could be dismissed for your actions," Albus said to Minerva with more shock than anger. "What has gotten into you?"
Even the damaged Severus Snape knew that Albus' last comment was out of line. He didn't know what had occurred between Minerva and the Headmaster, but whatever it was had made her distant and more fragile than he'd ever seen her - even more so than when Lily and James were killed. If he didn't know better, Severus would've said that Minerva was suffering from a broken heart. Still, whatever it was, it had made her very emotional and Snape backed away slowly. He didn't want to be caught between Albus and Minerva now.
"What's gotten into me? I leave you in your office laughing and happy. And you pick me up acting as if you'd never met me - as if you didn't like me. You were so attentive and kind with me earlier and now I mean nothing to you. You've hurt me - deeply - and I have nothing more to say to you right now." Minerva pushed past him and left the Great Hall full of stunned and mildly frightened students and staff. Snitch ran along behind her.
"Severus, perhaps Madame Pomfrey should take a look at you... erm... injury. I should go to Minerva and sort this out." Albus said to Snape as he turned to leave.
"Yeah, be sure she checks for brain damage," Rolanda Hooch said with a laugh
The Potions Master just growled.
As Albus left, he turned just in time to see another drama unfolding. Fawkes had taken advantage of Ramen's sudden vulnerability. He'd snatched the dragon up in his claws and deposited him face first into a large bowl of carrots. "Fawkes, come along and bring Master Soba with you," Albus called. Rather than pull his nemesis out of his trap, Fawkes picked up the bowl and flew after his wizard as the dragon tried to pull his head out of the orange mass.
Albus caught up to Minerva on the stairs and trapped her in a corner. He put one hand on either side of her and forced her to face him. They were only inches apart. Snitch's attempts to force her way between them were in vain. "What's wrong, Minerva?" Albus asked as he stared down into her angry green eyes.
"You lied to me," she yelled, "and I've never felt so mistreated in all my life!"
"When did I lie?" Albus always believed in truthfulness and these allegations had to be false.
"In my bedroom you told me that you would always be there for me and then you proceeded to rip me out of your life. Excuse me, but I'm rather upset and would like to go to bed. Let me go." Minerva had had enough of this.
"You can sleep when you're this upset? Let's talk this over. I feel I have something to explain." The tone of Albus' voice had changed. He hadn't meant for it to happen but her intensity was having an unexpected effect on him. He felt a familiar twinge from below as he moved closer to her.
"Albus stop. Let me go! Stop!" Minerva tried to pull away from him, but there was nowhere to go. He kissed her on the lips. She whimpered unhappily into his lips and tried to move away, but nothing worked. She felt uncomfortable and a little violated. He pulled back and smiled at her. His silly grin was met with a hard slap. He looked lost as she run past him up the stairs.
"You stupid, stupid arsehole!" Ramen said as he finally managed to pull his head from a carrot round. "We have to fix this now. To Miss McGonagall's chambers!" As Fawkes flew ahead carrying him in the carrot bowl he added, "You were never good with women, were you?"

Albus knocked on Minerva's door with his stomach in knots and his hands shaking. "Minerva, my dear, may I speak to you? I owe you an apology." Albus held his breath as he waited for her to answer. She didn't reply, but the door opened and Albus entered her chambers. Her study was empty, so Albus continued to her bedroom. The door was open and the sight that met Albus' eyes gave him quite a shock. Minerva was lying on her bed on her stomach wrapped in a towel. Charmed gloves were massaging her back. "Why did you let me in?" Albus asked in a state of complete bewilderment.
"Because I can't let you go without knowing why you've done all of this to me." Minerva's answer was steady with a hint of defiance. Her eyes remained closed and her body relaxed.
"Minerva, I'm so sorry. I don't even know where to begin." Albus' shock had been replaced by his old nervousness.
"At the beginning," Minerva said with the same calm strength.
"Well, it has to do with my study of Japanese-style dueling. You see my wandless magic is gaining strength and ... and those gloves are horrible at massage." Albus said distractedly.
"What? You're just avoiding the question, Albus. I want my explanation." Minerva settled in for a long story.
"Whether I want to or not, I'll give the explanation. I'm just saying that, if you want a good massage, I could do much better than those things," Albus said pointing an accusing finger at the gloves. The gloves were offended and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Minerva looked over her shoulder at Albus. "Well," she said returning to her earlier calm, "prove it." With that, she lay still waiting for him to begin.
Albus was speechless. He had also lost the power to move. What had he gotten himself into. He took in the sight before him with surprised pleasure. Yes, she was an attractive, partially clothed woman, but she was putting some level of trust in him. After all of his mistakes, she still trusted him. His smile found its way back to him.
"Excuse me, Miss McGonagall," Ramen said as he tumbled out of the carrot bowl and onto Minerva's bed, "I think that I may be better able to explain. Albus can add whatever he feels necessary, but I think that if I leave it all up to him, he'll most likely wind up with his foot firmly planted in his mouth. This is, after all, a very sensitive subject for him."
As Ramen spoke, Minvera felt her towel being pulled off. "Albus!" she yelled. Her first instinct was to sit up and grab for the towel, but she didn't due to the simple fact that the only item of clothing she was wearing was her knickers, and on the one day in years she'd worn little sexy black ones. She inwardly cursed the fact that she had left her laundry for the end of the week.
"Trust me, my dear. I promise it'll be worth it." Minerva blushed as she felt Albus lift the towel off of her. He draped it, folded in half, over her bottom and gave that part of her anatomy a soft pat. "I'm sorry. I just couldn't help myself." Albus said as he noticed her discomfort. Yes, looking back perhaps a pat on the backside was a bit foreward of him, but she didn't seem too upset - just confused. "Besides, you have nothing to be ashamed of," Albus whispered into her ear as he gently began to rub her shoulders. She immediately knew that this would be a challenging hour and a half.

To Minerva, this whole experience seemed surreal. She nearly naked, listening to a little statue explain that Albus had pushed her away because of "certain feelings" he had which could result in the removal of her clothing among other things, and all while that wizard in question was treating her to the most magnificent, and sensual, massage she'd ever had. To her dismay, her unusual feelings regarding him from earlier in the day had returned and she was trying to keep a clear head as his hands caressed her. Everything about the massage was perfect from the scented oils he'd chosen - ginger and coconut - to the way he knew just the right amount of pressure to relieve her tension. Even the instances when his fingers "accidentally" strayed to the sides of her breasts or wandered to her bottom underneath the towel seemed to feel like she was being touched by a lover as opposed to being felt up by a pervert. She could've stayed there forever
Albus was at once extremely happy and terribly miserable. She looked so happy. She was enjoying the experience and he was glad that he could do something to counteract his recent treatment of her. He knew that there was no way to "make it all better", but he hoped to smooth things over with Ramen's explanation and a peace offering of sorts. His plan looked to be working well and that pleased him. What didn't please he was the amount of self control he was forced to use to keep himself from being a very naughty boy indeed. He could see in his mind's eye just how he would carefully slide his hand up the back of her thigh and slip his fingers between her legs to give her a completely different type of massage all together. Then he'd come back to earth and be disgusted with himself for even letting the thought cross his mind. It would be about mid-way through his mental examination of his solid moral fiber that he would hear Minerva giggle and make a teasing comment. He would look down to find himself rubbing the sides of her breasts or attempting to explore what lay beneath Minerva's towel. He'd ask her if she wanted him to stop and she would ask him to continue in a way that made him question if she had in fact learned Legilimency in the time it had taken him to stop being a stupid git. He took comfort in the fact that this whole ordeal had to end sometime. She couldn't stay there forever.
Neither of them had noticed that Ramen had covered his eyes with his tail and left the room to join Fawkes and Snitch, who had had the good sense not to enter the bedroom in the first place.
Albus stopped after what felt like a year to him and a moment to Minerva. He turned to leave when Minerva spoke.
"Don't. Come here and let's talk."
The word were simple and innocuous enough, but when Albus saw the look in her eyes and the smile on her face, he knew that this was not going to be an ordinary talk. He walked over and sat on the edge of the bed never taking his eyes off of her.
"Lay next to me; I'm certainly not sitting up."
Albus lay on his back and came face to face with Minerva, who lay on her front.
"Hello," she said smiling.
"Hello," he said in a state of complete confusion.
They both knew this wasn't going to be an average talk. They each had a lot to say and weren't sure how much they felt like sharing. Something was going to happen; the question was what.

The two lay silently next to one another. No one wished to start the conversation at hand, but it had to happen. Too much lay unsaid between them. As he watched Minerva, enjoying her close proximity to him, Albus noticed her shiver. "Is something wrong Minerva?" he asked.
"I'm just a little cold. It's nothing," she replied. She was actually quite cold, but she couldn't get up to fix the situation for obvious reasons. She was trying to find her usual stern, conservative demeanor to combat all of the ideas she had in her head about where this all could lead if she just helped it along. She had never thought of Albus in a sexual way, but now that was what she wanted. It was all so easy. All she had to do was turn to face him while laying on her side. Let him see what he wanted and the rest would happen naturally. She couldn't do that to him though. He would regret it in the morning, she knew it, but these thoughts still persisted.
Albus reached over and touched her bare back. He couldn't resisted given her skin one more soft touch before he covered her up. He knew she had to be more than just a little cold, but she had never been a complainer. He rolled onto his side, pulled off his outer robe and draped it over her. "Is that better, my dear?" he asked. "Your students would be quite upset if you became ill."
"Who? The same little trolls that put mashed potatoes on my chair today at dinner? I could sooner see them poisoning me than worrying about my health." The incident at dinner clearly couldn't be ignored. It had to be dealt with.
"I will speak to the Malfoy boy tomorrow after breakfast. I'm sorry. You should have been beside me as usual. I would not have let him get near you." Albus said placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Yes, I should have been at your side... where I belong." Minerva began shivering again as the two fell into silence once more. The air was thick with tension.
"You're still cold. Is there anything I can do to warm you up?" Albus said in a tone which was doing its best to mask any misinterpretations of his words.
"Apart from taking me into your arms and holding me close, no." Minerva had always been one to speak her mind, but there was speaking you mind and then there was simply not thinking. This was a fine example of the latter and she was given no time to explain it away. Albus had pulled her into his arms. "What are you doing?" she asked nervously.
"Just giving my closest friend a friendly kiss" he said with a seductive smile. It took her a moment to react, but once she did, the next hour or so passed bringing equal pleasure for them both. The talking was going to have to wait.
