The banter between them is so funny. I like the way they are there for each other all the time and that it's the most normal thing in the world.
I really love this story and can't wait to see what will happen in the next part.

I'm sorry this has taken so long, but school has taken over my life. I know this is short, but I so wanted to update. Chapter Five Minerva woke up in a cold sweat, loose tendrils of hair sticking to her glistening forehead. In her mild movements during the night the top button of her pajama top had come undone. Minerva was still and wide-eyed as she sat in bed trying to calm her racing heart. Ever since she was a little girl she had had an irrational fear of the ocean. The Hogwarts Lake was fine, but an ocean was so expansive, never ending, and so easy to get lost in. Every once in awhile Minerva would have a nightmare involving and ocean, but this one had been horribly bad. ‘Ok,’ Minerva thought to herself, ‘you are a rational person and this room is not getting smaller and there is no ocean near-by.’ However, rarely does irrationality hear reason. Minerva rose from her bed, and quickly donned her dressing gown before rushing out the door. Her strides were long and sharp as she moved toward Albus’ office. The door opened easily for Minerva, in case of an emergency the Heads of House could access Albus’ office in the middle of the night. Minerva moved quietly up the stairs in search of her friend’s bedroom. Poking her head in the right door she slipped in unnoticed by the occupant of the large four poster bed. Minerva crossed the room softly calling to him, “Albus?” Once at his side she complemented her whisperings with a shake of his shoulder. “Hmm,” Albus sleepily mumbled. “Albus, its Minerva. Wake up.” “Is something wrong?” Albus asked stifling a yawn. “The school is fine; I just, well, I had a nightmare.” Minerva looked nervous awaiting his response, and Albus looked like this was a bad joke until he took in Minerva’s appearance. “Get in.” Minerva smiled softly as she took the warm side of the bed he just vacated for her. “What was it about?” Albus asked turning on his side to face her. “The ocean; I don’t know why, but I have this irrational fear of the ocean. Sometimes I have dreams about being in it, and I get carried away or I drown but I can never escape. It’s awful,” Minerva softly muttered as a shiver ran down her spine. “I’m sorry, my dear, but you are safe here. You know,” he added after a pause, “I have an irrational fear of toads. Mr. Edwards’ almost gave me a heart attack last week.” Minerva turned on her side so she could face Albus, “That’s awful. We are no where near the ocean, but many students have toads.” Minerva continued a playful smile on her face, “If you need to hold my hand at the staff table you may.” Albus smirked, “Well thank you, my dear, I’ll be sure to remember that next time one hops into the Great Hall. But I may have my wand out ready to perform a spell before I get the chance. My reaction time is still quite fast.” “You are so modest.” Silence fell around them like a soft blanket as they lay in bed, and Minerva let her head fall back to the pillows. Albus was about to say something when he noticed she was asleep. Shaking his head, but smiling, Albus pulled the covers around her, and softly kissed her forehead before falling back in the bed. Poppy Pompfrey was awaiting the Headmaster as he descended the stairs the next morning. However, she didn’t expect to see Minerva follow behind him. “Thank you, Albus; your bed is most comfortable.” “It was my pleasure, Minerva; any time.” As soon as the last word rolled gracefully off his tongue Albus noticed Poppy. He had forgotten all about his quick report on the physical he took last week. Poppy blushed and looked at her hands, “Headmaster your report came back fine. You are in good shape for a man you age, but I doubt I’m the expert on that.” Minerva’s jaw literally dropped, “Poppy, it wasn’t like that.” Poppy backed toward the door, “You secret is safe with me, Minerva.” ”Poppy,” Minerva called running past Albus down the stairs, “It really wasn’t; I had a nightmare and well…” “…you sought comfort,” Poppy finished for her. “Yes,” Minerva automatically replied and then, “No! Not like that! Whether you choose to believe us or not please do not go gossiping around the school. Albus has a reputation to maintain.” Poppy narrowed her eyes, “I do not gossip,” and with that she firmly shut the door. “My dear, what about your reputation,” Albus asked confused as to why she was so concerned for his and not her own. “I lost it a long time ago with her, she knew about my baby,” Minerva replied softly. “I’ve never known Poppy to be that judgmental; perhaps you should talk to her.” Albus said calmly approaching Minerva. “Perhaps.” “Minerva,” Albus waited until she had lifted her eyes to his. “Speak with her. I think it would help you both. Oh, and don’t worry about my reputation,” he added light heartedly but Minerva only grew more serious. “In some circles I am not seen in or spoken of in a good light.” “I have met no one who did not honor you as you should be, but if there are those that do then let them speak of my name with yours. I would be more honored to be compared with you than praised by their falsity.” Minerva smiled, “I do believe I’m falling in love with you, Albus Dumbledore.” “What if I said I was falling in love with you, Minerva McGonagall?” “Then I would say you would not be the first,” Minerva replied her hand on the door. “Nor you,” Albus said turning to his desk. They shared a laugh before Minerva hurried off to her rooms. I know there should be more, but after this paper due on thursday I will try and get it to you!

Aw, so cute. Another good addition from you, Pal. I never thought Poppy would be judgemental like that, is it perhaps a misunderstanding? Either way this was sweet, when will they realize that they are falling in love and it's not to be laughed at.

Chapter Six: Part One
Minerva headed to Poppy’s office right after breakfast to invite her for tea. She and Poppy had been classmates at Hogwarts, and until their split all those years ago she had been one of Minerva’s closest friends. It was Poppy that had examined Minerva, and confirmed that she was pregnant. Nearing the office Minerva took a deep breath.
“Madame Pompfrey,” Minerva called in case students were near-by.
“Professor McGonagall,” Poppy replied in turn, an icy edge to her voice.
“I’ll just get right to why I’m here, I would be happy if you would join me for tea this afternoon.” Poppy looked surprised at her invitation so Minerva continued, “I want to talk to you about that year; something happened between us and I want to know what it was. Will you join me at two?” Minerva asked looking Poppy in the eyes.
“Sure, Minerva.”
Minerva nodded curtly, and headed off in the direction of her office. Promptly at two Poppy arrived at Minerva’s door a little anxious as to how things would go that afternoon. Once tea was served Minerva went straight to the point.
“What happened, Poppy?”
“What do you mean, Minerva,” Poppy asked taking a sip of her tea.
“Why did you stop talking to me, and why did you avoid me at all costs?”
“You don’t know?”
Minerva shook her head no imploring Poppy to continue. “Minerva, why did you go away to have the baby? Why didn’t you let me deliver it? I thought you trusted me.” Poppy stated calmly.
Minerva closed her eyes, “Papa came home at noon the day I left, and said he was sending me away. I argued, and he told me that unless I wanted to find myself alone, penniless, and on the street I would obey. He said since I was under his care I had to leave; he went on to say I had dishonored the family enough. I had no choice, Poppy, and I was not to tell anyone where I was going.”
Poppy leaned her head back against the chair after Minerva had finished, “Oh, Minerva. I’m sorry; I thought you didn’t trust me.”
“No, I wanted you to deliver Alexander. He might have had a better chance. I’m sorry, too. I should have sought you out when I got back.”
Poppy crossed the room, and drew her renewed friend in for a hug, “a big misunderstanding. Now,” she added after a pause, “tell me about you and Albus.”
Minerva rolled her eyes as Poppy took her seat, “Poppy, we are just friends.”
“What was it like sleeping in his bed?”
“Poppy! We just slept!”
“I never said you didn’t.”
“You are incorrigible,” Minerva said exasperated. But then she looked back up, “Well, it wasn’t bad. We only slept, I had a dream about the ocean,-”
“You’re still having those?”
Minerva nodded and continued, “but when I woke up his arm was draped over my waist.”
Poppy raised her eyebrow, “I see; you sure you didn’t get a good morning kiss,” Poppy teased.
“Quite, but if I did I wouldn’t kiss and tell.”
“You and the Headmaster have gotten a lot closer lately,” Poppy observed, not missing the small smile that played about Minerva’s lips.
“Yes, we have.” Poppy knew not to press Minerva much further on her personal life, but she decided to keep a closer eye on the leaders of the school.
Poppy and Minerva spent two more hours catching up, before Poppy thought she had been away too long.
At the door Poppy said one last thing after offering to host tea next week in her rooms, “Your reputation was not as damaged as you think Minerva. The people that spoke ill of you are mostly dead now, and after what people found out about him everyone was glad you didn’t marry.”
Minerva’s back had straightened even more, “Yes, well. I’ll just have to be more careful who I give my heart to next time won’t I?”
“He’ll take good care of it.”
Minerva looked confused, “Who?”
Poppy smiled, “Who do you think?”
“Oh, Poppy; get out of here!” Minerva said as she pushed her through the door.

Chapter Six: Part Two
That night after dinner Minerva accompanied Albus back to his sitting rooms to discuss various school activities.
“Minerva, do you mind if I answer a few correspondents before we talk? I’m terribly behind in my paper work.”
“That’s fine, Albus, just let me go get some papers, and I can grade in here until you’re finished.”
They worked in silence for awhile, quills scribbling across feet of parchment and official documents. Occasionally one would look up to observe the other, a soft smile upon the lips but neither caught the other. Albus finished at nine, but noticing Minerva only had two more essays to go he didn’t disturb her. Albus popped another Lemon Drop into his mouth, and began fiddling with the many trinkets on his desk.
“Albus if you are finished just say so,” Minerva said her eyes never leaving the parchment in front of her.
“How did you know I was done?”
“Because you are like a little boy, once finished you become restless when made to wait.”
“Well if you can’t stand the noise then we can move on.” Albus replied slightly miffed.
“Are you going to pout again?” Minerva asked putting the last mark on the essay.
“Some women think I look cute when I pout,” Albus said smiling.
“Yes, but that doesn’t work on me.”
“What does work on you?”
Minerva thought for a moment, “A massage, and a hot bath.”
“So I have to seduce you?” Albus inquired, an eyebrow raised.
“Not entirely, are you planning on seducing me anytime soon?”
“I might have to give it some thought, so the idea has not been tabled.” Minerva couldn’t tell if he was serious or not so she chose to change the subject, and hope the warmth she felt in her cheeks would quickly subside.
“What business do we need to discuss today?”
“Well, discipline, money, and ministry issues. Which first?”
“Ministry, worst first.”
“Alright,” Albus picked up a stack of papers, “here follow this one with me. Now according to this report a few of Voldemort’s supporters are still at large, and they think they’re coming here,-”
“I presume you are the supposed cause of their course being directed here?”
“Naturally,” Albus said looking at the report, “my name is mentioned exactly fifty times. Mind you it is only a ten page report.”
Minerva chuckled, “Mr. Popular, have their movements been confirmed?”
“No.”
“Then no need to tell the staff, or the students.”
“Good to know we agree. I’ve been asked to be kept informed, and the moment they are tracked near this school we will have to discuss what to do with the students.”
“Well I would say send them home, but in all reality they are safer here.”
“I know, but I just wanted to give you the heads up. Now on to money, that would be the next paper. The governors want to decrease funds for the upkeep of the grounds. Can we reshuffle some funds?”
“I’ll have to think on it, but I think we can do something.”
“Good, good. Discipline, have you had any problems?”
“Nope.”
“Ok, that’s done.”
“Albus that could not possibly be all,” Minerva replied amused.
“It will do for now, besides I want to talk about your talk with Poppy.”
Recounting the event, except for the part about her losing her heart again, Minerva had to admit he had been right, “I’m glad you pushed me in that direction, thank you Albus.”
“No thanks are needed, I thought something of that nature might have been what it was: just a misunderstanding.”
“Indeed.” They sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes before Albus spoke up again, “Minerva, could I cook you dinner this Saturday?”
Minerva cocked her head to the side, “Are you planning on poisoning me?”
“No, I just enjoy cooking sometimes and it is rare I get the house elves to agree. Feisty little things when it comes to their territory, really. Anyway, I haven’t had anyone to cook for in awhile and I was just in the mood. I promise no flying, and you won’t die as a result of what you eat.”
“I don’t have any plans, so sure you can cook for me. What will we be having?”
Albus was smiling widely, “Now I would have to kill you if I told you. You shall know on Saturday.”
Minerva just smiled and shook her head, “Alright, Mr. Popular, I will assume you know my culinary tastes, but if you mess up I’ll cook for you. Now that might kill you.” Albus laughed out loud as he escorted Minerva to the door, “Now you can’t be that bad.” His laughing only increased when she raised an eyebrow, giving him a “don’t make me prove it” look.
“Goodnight, Albus.”
“Goodnight, dear.”

Chapter Seven, Part One:
On Saturday Minerva arrived at Albus’ chambers in red robes, and her hair in a French twist, making her face appear softer. She knew this wasn’t a date, but it was a good excuse to wear more feminine robes. Albus had instructed that she come through his office and into his sitting room, where dinner would be served. Pushing the door open Minerva smiled when she saw that Albus had cleared parts of the furniture away, and had set a nice table for two in a hunter green table cloth.
“Albus?” Receiving no answer Minerva moved to inspect his bookshelves.
“You do realize wearing that I just might have to seduce you,” a deep rich voice said from behind her.
“Well I wouldn’t want to make everything easy for you now would I,” Minerva replied turning around.
“Oh, no, please feel free to make my life harder,” Albus retorted dryly. “Now, good lady may I show you to your seat?”
“You may, but watch those hands,” Minerva teased.
“Why would I watch my own when I could watch yours? Don’t worry mine are very gentle.”
Minerva shook her head as Albus pulled out her chair, and waited till she was seated before serving dinner.
“A light soup to begin,” Albus said placing a small bowl in front of Minerva.
“How many courses Albus?” Minerva asked a little wary of how much she was going to have to eat.
“Only the soup, salad, entrée, and dessert; you never eat much, so I know not to prepare too many dishes. I guess that is how you stay so slender.” Albus looked up and smiled from his bowl of soup.
Minerva smiled softly in turn, fighting the urge to bow her head in a moment of shyness. “Well my mother was slender, but I imagine your little tummy would be from so many sweets.”
Albus chose to ignore that comment, and the couple settled into a light conversation spanning literature, the school, and various hobbies of the other as they made their way through dinner. Albus had prepared peppered steaks, potatoes, and stuffed green peppers for the entrée. They had just finished and Albus was getting the dessert.
“Now, my dear, I hope you like Crème Brule,” Albus said from the corner of the room where he had stored the food.
“Yes, but what kind? Is there lemon?”
“Chocolate, I know better than to make you anything with lemon,” Albus replied setting her plate in front of her.
Minerva closed her eyes as she ate the first bite: it was so rich, and so delicious. “Albus you have really outdone yourself, when did you learn to cook?”
Albus sat back in his chair and turned his eyes toward the ceiling trying to remember exactly when, “Well I enjoyed watching the house elves as a child, and then I think I took some classes or got a house elf to teach me when I was in my fifties. I find it therapeutic actually, but I don’t get to do it as much while here at the school.”
Minerva finished her dessert, and wondered if she was going to have to be rolled down to her rooms. She felt like she had gained at least ten pounds, and she was a little tired from eating so much. Albus suggested they move to the couch, and so the left the empty dishes to clean up later.
“Minerva I was wondering if I could ask you something?” When Minerva indicated that he could Albus took a deep breath, “Well I’ve been wondering why you didn’t marry your lover? I don’t mean to imply anything, but I’ve just been curious.”
Minerva did not skip a beat, and replied with virtually no trace of emotion: “I brought it up once after we had been seeing each other for a while, and he was quite opposed to the idea. He said it was to restricting, and he needed his freedom. I was fine with that, because I was young and I liked my freedom as well. When he suggested we live together I was elated. I thought it was a good move, and if he never wanted to marry I was fine with that. Unfortunately he left me when he found out I was pregnant, and it was found out after I had gone away that he had been seeing many young women which was why he did not wish to settle down. I never knew until a few years ago, but he had gotten another girl pregnant at about the same time I was, but her father had forced him to marry her. I imagine they have a very unhappy marriage, and that he still fools around.”
Albus wasn’t sure what he should say, so he just went with the first thing that popped into his head, “I don’t think I’ve ever been more disgusted with my sex, I’m sorry Minerva.”
“There’s no need to apologize, Albus, it wasn’t your fault. In end it was good that I didn’t marry him; my only wish is that my child had lived, but we can’t have it all can we?”
“You deserve to have it all,” Albus replied softly.
An uncomfortable silence crept over the room until Minerva spoke a few minutes later, “How bout you? Why hasn’t the famous Albus Dumbledore settled down?”
“Never found the one that I wanted to marry to be honest, I thought I had years ago but it was more I thought it was time to settle down instead of I found the right one. The hardest thing to tell now is if they just want to be seen on my arm.”
“Aye, most just want to be Mrs. Popular.”
“Exactly, and that was the case for the one I considered proposing to. At least I’ve had some fun,” he tried to joke.
Minerva smiled and decided to tease him a little, “Well who’s warming your bed now?”
“You last time I checked.” Minerva wasn’t sure who was blushing more, her or Albus.
The spent the rest of the evening engrossed in a chess game until it was time for Minerva to head back to her rooms. Over the next couple of months Albus and Minerva grew even closer, spending most of their free time with the other. Poppy was not the only member of the staff to notice the difference in the way the Headmaster and Deputy Headmistress treated each other. Objects would be passed without asking, they would touch more when sitting down or talking, more thoughts were expressed with looks than with words, and if the other happened to walk into a room where the other one was sitting they would both smile. Poppy only hoped that Albus and Minerva would recognize the change for what it was before too long.

Chapter Seven, Part Two:
It was early June now, and Minerva was grading the first of the exams when Albus came busting into her office.
“Minerva, I just received word from the ministry. There is a group of Death Eater only ten miles from Hogesmeade. I need you to gather your lions, and have them at the train station in less than half an hour. Do not have them pack a thing, we will send them their things if need be.”
Minerva was already up and standing beside of him, “Are you sure there are no attacks planned on the train should it depart?”
“You and I are going to perform an invisibility shield on the train, and I assure you it will not be detected. Filius and Hagrid will be sent with the students. I’ll meet you at the station, time is of the essence.”
Minerva hurried through the corridors gathering her lions from the library, and sending a group of seventh years to search the rest of the school. Once all were assembled in the common room Minerva spoke quickly.
“You all are to follow me down to the train, do not bother bringing a thing with you but your wands. I do not want any talking, and every older classman is to help his younger classmates if needed. Do not ask questions, only follow.”
Minerva brought her students through the school, and they quickly piled into the carriages while Minerva apparated. She had never been so proud of all her students; the entire school was on the train and had departed in forty-five minutes. Albus had been waiting when she apparated and they worked on various spells doing the invisibility one when all the students were aboard.
Albus and Minerva apparated to the gates, and then moved quickly to the front doors where the rest of the staff was assembled. There was never any doubt of who was in charge: “Poppy you are to stay here, and we will send any wounded to you. All the wards have been enacted, not a Death Eater will get near this school I can assure you. The rest of you will follow me, safe Sibyll who will also stay here if needed, and we will split into groups to cover all entries into the village.”
The staff followed the Headmaster without comment, and once in the village he separated them into groups. Minerva was to head a different group at the south end of the village, and Albus was to go alone to the western end. Before she left he caught her gruffly by the arm, and spun her around. Kissing her roughly on the forehead he said, “Be careful.” Minerva didn’t have time to ponder on his actions, because it was time to go.
Those that lived in the village were in their homes, minus a few who planned to fight. Ministry Aurors were out as well, and Minerva thought there was no way the group coming toward Hogesmeade would have a chance.
Her end was attacked first, a group of four who had not expected resistance. Minerva was the first to draw her wand, and she found herself in the middle of a nasty duel. She didn’t recognize a few spells, but Minerva still prided herself on being very quick on her feet. Minerva had just rolled onto the ground to miss a spell when she noticed a weak spot on the figure’s right, quickly she shouted, “Stupify!” “Pertficus Totalus!”
Looking around she noticed the four had been successfully bound, and anti-apparition spells performed, “Alright,” she called. “Vector you stay here and guard, while I try and find a ministry official. The rest of you fan out in other directions, we don’t know if anyone else needs our help.
Minerva changed into her cat form, so she could move quicker, and within five minutes she had found and dispatched two Aurors to her end. Moving again she went to the West end in case Albus needed any help, but there was no one there when she arrived. Minerva assumed Albus had taken care of any problems there so she quickly moved to the north end where she found herself in another duel.
Two hours later Minerva was in the center of the town looking for Albus, all but five of the Death Eaters had been captured and already on their way to the Ministry. No one had seen Albus, and the Minister was looking for him as well. Minerva was worried; he wasn’t anywhere to be found. Making sure she was no longer needed she set off in a dead run toward the school. Cursing out loud that she couldn’t apparate she moved as quickly as she could, Albus had set up anti-apparition wards to surround the castle within one hundred yards.
As Minerva ran every negative thought she could come up with had crossed her mind, “you had better be alive, Albus Dumbledore.’
To be continued…

Chapter Eight, Part One:
Minerva’s pace had steadily slowed down as her legs and arms began to feel like dead weights, but her mind was still as sharp with her eyes darting constantly in case Albus was on any side. Finally she had reached the grounds, and knowing how to get inside she quickly shut the gates back and made for the lake. Minerva could not explain why she was pulled toward the large pool of water, all she did was run. Reaching the hill that overlooked the lake she saw Albus standing on the banks just looking at the water. He appeared fine, and Minerva was grateful for that, but how dare he make her worry. Without thinking as to whether her actions would be wise Minerva raced down the hill, her hair slipping from its bun and her feet springing out before the rest of her as her body ran with the slope.
Albus heard someone running and he turned quickly, his wand raised. As he saw Minerva he replaced his wand inside of his robes, and thought of all the possible ways she could fall into his arms. However, he was not expecting her reaction.
As she neared him Minerva threw herself into his arms, and then started to beat on his chest. “How dare you let me think something had happened to you! What were you thinking? Obviously nothing!” Minerva shrieked as she continued to beat his chest with her balled up fists, “I thought something had happened to you, but no you are just fine staring at the damn lake!”
Albus wrapped his arms around Minerva bringing her as close to him as her beatings would allow, and just when she took a breath to start another rant Albus bent down and caught her lips in a hard kiss. Minerva was still beating on his chest, but with much less vigor, and as Albus increased the pressure with which he was kissing her Minerva slowly started to kiss him back. Her hands were beating on his chest with little force behind them, and much less frequently until finally she stopped altogether winding her arms around his neck and kissing him back with as much force as she was being kissed.
Moments later Albus pulled back, but did not loosen his grasp on Minerva. “I’m sorry, my dear, I found a few trying to get onto the grounds and then I just wanted to look at the lake.”
Minerva was not overly pleased, “Never do that to me again. I thought you were hurt,” she said with a mixture of seriousness and melancholy. Albus moved his hands to cup her cheeks, “I promise, never on purpose.”
He ran his thumb over her swollen lips as his other thumb gently caressed her cheek. “You are very beautiful, Minerva. Your hair, and your eyes, you lips, and,-” but before he could finish Minerva had tilted her head so as to press her lips against his, silencing his comments. This kiss was much more soft and slow, the anger and the frustration having subsided leaving only the vulnerability and the love.
Minerva pulled away blushing slightly, “I didn’t want to hear you talk.”
Chuckling Albus leaned his forehead against hers, “I like the way you silence me.”
They stood there for a few minutes just leaning on each other when they heard voices. Stepping apart they strode to the top of the hill where they were surrounded by officials, and Minerva lost sight of Albus completely. He tried to stay near her, but the need to answer ministry questions, meet with the Minister, and talk to reporters swept him away before he so much as had a chance to squeeze her hand.
Minerva sighed softly as she headed back to the castle. Having no idea when she would see Albus again Minerva went to her rooms to take a hot soaking bath. Settling into the warm water Minerva let her hair down, and closed her eyes. She focused on some of her favorite memories with Albus, and was smiling softly to herself in the tub. Unconsciously as she played the latest memory over and over in her mind she ran her fingers over her lips trying to remember the exact way he tasted. Minerva knew what this was, and against her usual behavior she allowed herself to giggle in the tub.
Minerva washed herself wondering how it would feel to have Albus do it for her, or better yet she tried to picture washing his muscles and little tummy that rounded his slight frame. An hour later Minerva climbed out of the tub, and into her pajamas and bathrobe; she made her way to Albus’ rooms hoping he was back.
Entering his office she found he had not returned, so Minerva took a seat in his favorite chair and attempted to wait for him but the day’s events were finally taking their toll and she fell asleep.
Albus returned at six the following morning to find Minerva asleep in his chair, looking peaceful and beautiful. Quietly he changed into his nightshirt, and picked her up to carry her to his bed.
Minerva awoke confused as to why she was in a bed until she registered a warm arm around her waist and a leg over hers. Turning her head Minerva came face to face with a sleeping Albus. Smiling she kissed his nose lightly then snuggling closer Minerva fell back asleep.

Chapter Eight, Part Two:
(a lemon ahead)
Waking up was very pleasant for both Albus and Minerva, but after playing good-bye kisses for five minutes Minerva left under the agreement to meet Albus for a sunset walk around the lake.
Albus met Minerva at the lake and took her hand leading her away from the lake to Hogwarts graveyard. Minerva was not very happy about this change, and didn’t see anything remotely romantic in the gesture. She could make out the yard not far from the hill above the lake: it was neither small nor large and fenced in with simple stone. The only foliage, save grass, was an old weeping willow tree. Minerva had always been interested in weeping willows, often she found herself wanting to ask it why it wept but she knew why this tree wept.
Upon entering Albus led her to a plot in the back, “Here’s where I’ll be buried.”
Minerva looked mortified, “Don’t be morbid, Albus. I don’t like this place, can we please leave?”
Albus remained standing, “I don’t know how long it will be before I’m laying there, Minerva.”
“Don’t say that!” Minerva almost yelled starting to pull back.
“Why does this upset you so?”
“I don’t want to think about you dying, and the thought that I will still be alive when you do is even worse. I don’t want to be near that spot,” Minerva answered pointing to the ground, “unless I’m lying beside of you.”
“That’s a very serious thing to say, Minerva.”
Mistaking his solemn expression, Minerva moved out of his grasp, “I know, I’m a serious person. If you want to talk about dying just don’t do it while I’m around, that’s all I ask.”
Albus followed Minerva in her retreat until he was once again holding her hand, stroking it softly with his thumb, “Minerva, death is but the next great adventure.”
“I know; but you don’t have to be in such a rush to go on it. I just, with so much death, can’t we talk about something else, Albus? Please?” Minerva asked acutely aware of the havoc he was wreaking on her internal stability.
“Life, I presume, is what you would rather speak about,” Albus asked moving to take both of her hands in to his. Minerva simply nodded not trusting her voice to speak.
“And what do you think of your life, Professor McGonagall, is it complete?”
“I thought we were steering away from the dying aspect of it,”
“Oh, we are, but I would like to have my question answered, if you would be so kind.”
After a moment Minerva whispered, “No.”
“Nor does mine feel complete, a reason I have no wish to die anytime soon.”
Looking back up into his eyes Minerva softly asked, “What do you feel is lacking?”
Albus lifted his eyes from their entwined hands, and studied Minerva’s face before answering, “Love.”
“Me too,” Minerva replied nodding. After a long pause Minerva was the next one to speak, “Do you think there is someone for everyone?”
“Yes, I do, but I think many of us become rather preoccupied with life and miss what is right in front of our eyes.”
“Can those people have happy endings,” Minerva asked never removing her eyes from Albus’. Taking the final step between them Albus whispered, “Yes I think so, do you?” Minerva slowly closed her eyes to nod, and when she reopened them they had never appeared so stunningly green, shinning with unshed tears, “Yes.”
Albus bent his head to softly kiss Minerva’s lips. “Minerva I want the chance at a happy ending.”
Never lifting her head from his shoulder Minerva replied, “So do I, Albus, so do I.” Albus released her hands so he could hold Minerva to him, and in return Minerva’s hands traveled up his arms to loop around his neck holding him tight to her. They stood there for a few minutes reveling in the ability to hold one another so close, but then Albus stepped back and taking one of Minerva’s hands he gently kissed the back of it.
“Come, my dear, the sun is about to set, and I don’t want to miss it. The best vantage point is from the lake.” Walking hand in hand the couple watched the sunset announce the ending of another day, and as their shadows lengthened and then disappeared they knew it simply wasn’t the end of another day, but to a way of life.
They were silent as they walked back up to the castle, and into his sitting room. After eating a light supper Albus and Minerva played a little chess, but did not get far into the game due to the footsie underneath the table.
“Minerva, come here,” Albus ordered as he held his hands out toward her. Minerva crossed the room, and joined Albus on the sofa where she was promptly turned around as Albus started to massage her shoulders.
“Are you trying to seduce me, Mr. Popular?”
Albus nodded in the affirmative, “Is that a bad thing?”
Minerva leaned back into his chest stopping his massage, “No, it is a very good thing but I prefer massages without my clothes getting in the way. Perhaps you could be of some assistance,” Minerva asked as she stood up to walk toward his bedroom door.
Albus wasted no time in following her into the room, closing the door with his foot. “I do believe I can handle that.”
Minerva smiled seductively as Albus approached her. Slowly he helped her out of every article of clothing she was wearing, and almost un-noticed to him she had done the same. Albus laid Minerva gently back on the bed, “You’re perfect.” Minerva had her hands in his hair pulling his head down for a searing kiss. She lost complete control when Albus pulled from the kiss to taste her neck.
Minerva held Albus’ head to her as he paid homage to her breasts, “Oh Albus,” she moaned when he ran his tongue around her nipple. “Albus!” Smiling at her insistence Albus took a nipple in this mouth, sucking slowly and flicking his tongue over the hard bud.
As Albus moved his mouth further down her body he was following the trail his right hand had already made. Said hand was between her legs, stroking her and then rubbing his thumb over her most sensitive area.
As he moved he lost part of his grip on her and Minerva sat up quickly using a hand to grasp his aching member at its base, stoking upward slowly but with just the right amount of pressure.
“Oh Merlin…Minerva…” Albus gasped out as he lost himself in her touch, but he didn’t allow his mind to wander too long. Minerva released her grasp only to move it to his shoulders, directing him with her back to the bed. One look in her eyes and Albus knew what she wanted. “Please, Albus.”
Refusing such a plea was not an option Albus was prepared to take tonight, and within a matter of seconds the couple had found a rhythm all their own.
It would prove to be a long night for the new couple: long but glorious.
A/N: My final exams start this week and last for two weeks, so there will be no more updates until after December 16th. Please bear with me, and I will try to churn out more chapters during my Christmas Break. Special thanks to Ginger Newts for all her help!
