CHAPTER SIX
“Allison!” Albus barked when they finally got away from Minerva’s rooms.
“Yes darling?” she answered twisting round and smiling sweetly at him.
“What was that about?” Allison sighed in annoyance.
“I didn’t want to tell you this before as I know how close you are... Albus, you will have to forgive me.”
“What do you mean?” For once he was confused, proud Albus Dumbledore was utterly confused.
“Minerva... she’s just... she’s trying to get into bed with you, Albus.”
“What?” Albus snapped. “That’s ridiculous.”
“No Albus. I saw it, I heard her talking to her mirror. She’s already made you fall for her, I know she has! And she’ll pounce soon, she’ll take you and she’ll use you. She will take everything you own and I can’t let her do that, Albus! I love you way too much to see you hurt like that.”
“No, Minerva... she would never, she’s a kind woman,” Albus demanded, he knew it was true. It had to be true.
“Haven’t you ever heard the way she talks about Severus and the way she talks about me... that’s the real Minerva. What you see is fake; she’s not like that at all. She’s evil, Albus... I won’t let her hurt you.” Allison slowly crept her hands up over Albus’ chest and onto his cheeks. “I won’t let something so rotten touch you.”
He pushed her body away from his forcefully. “Who are you to say what is rotten and what is not? You do not know Minerva, you know nothing about her. She is nothing like what you have just described. She’s kind and caring.”
“It’s a lie Albus, she’s not like that at all,” Allison grumbled softly before throwing her arms around Albus and planting a tiny feather light kiss on his lips. He pushed her of him again.
“I care for you Albus, more then words can tell... I don’t want Minerva to hurt you. I don’t want anyone to hurt you. I just want you to be with me,” Allison cried sensitively.
“Well I’m sorry Allison, but that will never happen,” Albus muttered before turning and striding down the corridor.
Allison was angry; she could feel the hate and anger bubbling through her veins. She had never hated anyone as much as she hated Minerva McGonagall now. How could one woman, just one simple woman, ruin her plans so much! Allison stormed back to her rooms, her short dress now feeling incredible tight. She slammed the heavy oak door shut and bolted it. She rummaged through her drawers for a while before she found what she wanted. A knife, she had been given it for her 17th birthday and had never used it properly before. The gems at the top glistened in the moonlight. Minerva McGonagall would not live through the night, she told herself. Minerva McGonagall would never see a new day dawn.
Allison stalked along the deserted corridor, the knife hidden in her robe pocket. She scanned her surroundings as she made her way along to her chosen destination, she had to make sure that no one saw her. She reached the portrait of a lion, it was the only thing standing between her and that wretched woman. She had got the password from Dumbledore’s office and spoke it quietly.
"Courage throughout!”
The portrait swung aside allowing Allison to enter the rooms. This was a different entrance to the one she had used earlier that day, this entrance lead straight into Minerva McGonagall’s bedchambers. Allison looked around in disgust at the furnishings, they were red and gold, the colours of Gryffindor. Allison’s eyes flew upon a queen-sized four-poster bed and she walked towards it. Allison pulled the drapes slowly apart and peered down at the sleeping woman. Minerva was curled up in a ball, the covers wrapped tightly around her. Her long loose ebony locks fanned out on the pillow and she was wearing a cream silk nightgown.
Allison stood watching her target for some time, watching her breathe and move slightly. Allison’s dislike for the sleeping woman grew more intense as the minutes ticked away. Minerva McGonagall was everything that she was not and it angered Allison. Oh yes, she knew that Albus had lost his heart to the disgusting Gryffindor bitch while they had been married. Every time Allison had noticed Albus looking across at Minerva there was a special twinkle in his eye which was only ever present when the Gryffindor beauty was around. Voldemort had warned Allison of Minerva and had told her to watch out for her, as she would be the one to ruin their plans.
Allison pulled out the small knife and looked at it with a determined smile. She ran her fingers along its sharp blade and didn’t wince when she cut herself. After tonight Minerva McGonagall would be no more and Allison would comfort the pathetic Headmaster as he grieved and then she would strike.
Allison brought the knife down into Minerva’s skin with such force that it sliced through her delicate skin. Minerva’s eyes flew open as pain shot through her body, she quickly realised that she was being attacked but she didn’t know by whom. Minerva tried to reach across for her wand but her attacker stabbed the knife through her hand, forcing Minerva to pull away. Minerva tried to fight her attacker but the darkness was against her and not to mention that she was defenceless. Minerva let out a scream as the blade of the knife made contact with her stomach.
The frenzied knife attack halted and Minerva heard her attacker speak.
"Goodbye Minerva McGonagall."
Allison slipped out of Minerva’s bedroom and hid the bloodstained knife in her robes. She ran to her own room to discard the knife and settle down in bed as if nothing had happened.

Chapter Seven
Minerva was very aware of the pain shooting through her weak body, she had already lost a lot of blood. She struggled to her feet and wrapped her covers around her stomach, she had to stop the bleeding. Her wand was nowhere in sight and Minerva couldn’t search for it. She knew she had to get help and the only person that came to her mind was Albus. She slowly dragged herself out of the room and along the corridor leading to the Headmaster’s rooms, blood dripping from her cuts.
"Albus!" she called as she reached his rooms. "Help!"
She reached the entrance to his rooms but didn’t have the strength to even say the password. She felt her resolve and energy leave her and she slipped to the floor without a sound. As her eyes closed, she thought of Albus.
He dreamed, a knife, the knife he had bought Allison so many years ago. The body of a sleeping woman, and the sound, oh the dreadful sound that can only be made by knife and skin. Blood! Rich dark blood, almost black in the moonlight. A scream, the scream of a terrified and dieing woman. She was moving, pulling herself along, searching for help but there was no one around. ‘Albus... help!’
Albus Dumbledore shot up right in his bed, his nightclothes drenched in sweat. Just a dream, Albus, just a dream, he told himself over and over again. Yet he couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was awfully wrong. He forced himself to lie down, yet sleep didn’t come to him. He found himself staring at the ceiling not knowing what else to do.
“12 students, Mrs Norris, 12! God I miss the old ways, thumbscrews under the nails and no messing. Dumbledore’s not a real Headmaster; a real Headmaster would not let the old ways die.”
Mrs Norris seemed to meow in response. They turned the corner that lead to Dumbledore’s office and the Charms corridor. It was a depressing night; the atmosphere had changed considerably since Filch had left his office. Before it seemed troubled. He guessed that was the school, Dumbledore had always told him the school had a mind and feelings. He was a crackpot old fool, but maybe just this once he was right. The temperature had dropped almost suddenly, the school seemed anxious, apprehensive, livid even. Something vile and despicable had been afoot that night.
Filch felt himself trip up over something hard, his face hit the floor at full blast. It took him a while to realise he was on the floor. He turned to face the assaulting object, and found his jaw almost hitting the floor. Now there was a sight, Minerva McGonagall in a silk nightgown, she wasn’t half bad. He glanced closer, BLOOD! How could he not have noticed that blood? He pulled himself over to her; she was in a bad state. He may have been cold and almost heartless but he couldn’t leave an innocent woman to die. He lent over her flimsy form and picked her up easily. She was very light, he guessed that was from the lack of blood. He found himself running down the corridors trying to find the infirmary, her long nimble arms hanging loosely by her side. Eventually he found the infirmary. He ran in, his breath short and desperate.
“Pomfrey!” he screamed, trying to get the nurse’s attention. He couldn’t see her anywhere. He screamed out a few more times before Poppy came running out in a blue dressing gown.
“What is it, Filch?” she moaned just before her eyes fell on Minerva. “Sweet Merlin!” Poppy gasped.
“Well help her then!” Filch growled as he put Minerva down on a bed.
“She’s been attacked, go get the Headmaster! GO FILCH! This is attempted murder. Get the Ministry, get everyone.” Poppy started to cast spell after spell on Minerva, while Argus ran of to get anyone he ran into.
Minutes later Dumbledore, Snape, Hagrid and Hooch came running into the infirmary, waking up the only student in there. Neville looked around to see what was going on and gasped when the professor fell into his gaze. There was no blood on her now; her whole torso was covered in bandages as well as two fading cuts on her left shoulder and one running from the middle of her nose to her neck. Snape was the first to regain from the shock.
“What... what happened here?” he gasped, his greasy hair falling into his face.
“She was attacked with a knife,” Poppy answered, her tanned face now deathly pale. “I’ve never seen anything so bad. Stab marks all over her stomach, chest and abdomen. If Filch had found her but a minute later she would have been dead.”
“Where was she found?” Hooch asked, her hawk eyes moving over Minerva’s unconscious form.
“In front of Albus’ office,” Filch answered from the other side of the room. Albus just stood over his Deputy, not doing anything, just staring. He couldn’t believe it he had seen it, it wasn’t the first time he had seen things like this. But it was the first time it had come true. He had seen Allison’s knife, had it been Allison? Why would she do such a thing? Albus felt himself fall to his knees.
“My god Minerva! I’m so sorry. I heard you but I didn’t come!” He felt the numbness slowly fade away and the pain come. Neville couldn’t help but notice the tears falling down his Headmaster’s cheeks. Could the rumours really be true?
"I just don’t understand," said Hooch, throwing herself down into a nearby chair and looking at her close friend. "Who would do such a thing?"
"Filch!" demanded Severus, looking at the caretaker with suspicion. "Did you see anyone?"
"No one," answered Filch, "and I don’t like how you asked me that."
"Guilty conscience?" suggested Severus.
"Gentleman please, this isn’t the time or the place," scolded Madam Pomfrey.

Oh, dear.... oh dear.... Poor Minerva I do hope that she will be alright!? And please don't let Snape get the wrong idea about Filch!! I know the latter one isn't the nicest person, but he doesn't deserve being accused of attempted murder! All that "honor" is Allisons...
Thanks for another wonderfully written chapter!

Great chapter and you choose a wonderful way for her to be found. For Albus to have 'seen' it but not acted on it is going to be a great plot motivator. Nice touch. Alisoun shouldn't have used a knife Albus gave her - Bad move on her part. ;D (Hurrah)

CHAPTER EIGHT
Albus was oblivious to what was being said around him, his eyes were locked firmly on the witch in front of him. Her hand was ice cold and he could feel her body struggling to pump her blood through itself. Why hadn’t he checked on her, why hadn’t he listened to what his dream had been telling him? His thoughts wandered back to the jewel-encrusted dagger that he had seen in his dream. It was the exact one he gave Allison all those years ago. Was Allison behind this dreadful and brutal attack on Minerva? But for what reason would she do this?
He had always known that the women never really got on. He had introduced Minerva to Allison when Minerva had successfully become an animagus at the tender age of fifteen under his guidance. Allison had taken an instant dislike to the younger witch and saw her as a threat. Albus had tried to dismiss his then wife’s fears but even he couldn’t ignore his growing attraction to the younger witch and Allison knew it. It had been a shock when it turned out that Allison had been in league with the Dark Lord all that time and also warming his bed.
He needed to get answers but he was torn, he wanted to seek out Allison but he couldn’t bring himself to leave Minerva’s side. He cursed himself for ever letting Allison return to the school. Not that he knew she was the one who attacked Minerva but for so many other reasons. He looked at the sleeping form of the woman he held dear and knew what he had to do. He rose to his feet and leaning forward, he placed a tender kiss on her forehead.
"Get through this, my dear Minerva," he told her, "I need you!"
"Professor? Where are you going?" asked Hooch. "Severus is calling a staff meeting!"
"I need to find someone," replied Albus. "Madam Pomfrey, if there is any change in her condition, alert me straight away. Look after her, Poppy!"
"You have my word I won’t let anything happen to her!" answered Pomfrey.
Albus turned to Hagrid and smiled softly at the half giant.
"Hagrid, will you remain by Minerva’s side till I return?" asked Albus.
"Aye Professor Dumbledore, Sir," answered Hagrid. He was honoured to be asked to undertake such a job. Hagrid had always thought very highly of the Deputy Headmistress and how she had jumped to his defence when Umbridge had tried to run him from the school had made him indebted to her.
Hooch and Pomfrey watched the Headmaster sweep out of the hospital wing with a determined look in his eyes.
“Harry!” Neville screamed as he scurried into the common room, his arms flying all over the place making him look oddly like a gibbon.
“Hello Neville, feeling better now?” Hermione acknowledged him cheerfully. Neville stopped running when he reached the trio, he was breathing heavily as if he had just run a race.
“Mcgonagallmcgongallsinhospitalshewasattackedbloodeverywereitwasawfulharry!”
“What the hell are you going on about?” Ron demanded, interrupting the silence.
Neville looked at him, there were huge black rings under his eyes he obviously hadn’t slept very well the night before.
“It’s... it’s McGonagall she’s... she’s been attacked,” Neville whimpered, silvery tears rolling down his chubby cheeks. Many things followed those small little words, Hermione’s book dropped of her lap as she let out a small shriek of surprise. Ron’s mouth dropped open and his ears turned pink slightly. Harry just stared at Neville not knowing what to say.
“But... but how, where?” Harry mumbled softly.
“Filch found her outside Dumbledore’s office hardly breathing. She was covered in blood, it was horrible!”
Neville sniffed as he buried his head into his hands.
“But who? Why would someone do that? Why McGonagall?” Harry wondered out load, again his head hurt now and his scar was burning slightly.
“Maybe Death Eaters! Dad always said that McGonagall was the best witch of modern times,” Ron answered his voice sounding very small.
“A Death Eater wouldn’t have left her alive,” Harry inquired, “Did they use the Cruciatus curse Neville?”
“No... that’s the strange thing, she was attacked by a Muggle knife! Madam Pomfrey said she had never seen wounds that deep in all her time at Hogwarts.” Harry stood up and started to make his way over to the portrait.
“Harry! Where are you going? It’s 5 in the morning,” Hermione yelled after him, getting up and following him and Ron.
“We have to go and see her ‘Mione we have to see what we can do to help,” Harry whispered before walking out the portrait, Ron and Hermione following in his wake.

What an appropriate person for Albus to pick to guard Minerva! Of course it would be Hagrid. (I am just a sucker for Hagrid/Minerva mother-son type subplots though) Alison had better watch out if the Golden Trio is after her. I have no doubt she will sweet talk her way past Albus at least one more time but the Trio already doesn't like her, it won't take much convincing for them to go after her.
