ok, so here goes...
Albus Dumlbedore was walking through the deserted halls of Hogwarts at one in the morning during Harry’s second year heading for his deputy’s chambers. He had been gone all day in meetings with the Minister, and he was exhausted but he wanted to see Minerva. Last year during the ordeal with the sorcerer’s stone he and Minerva had finally found each other. He could remember it like it was yesterday:
He was heading to the hospital wing to check on Mr. Potter, and when he arrived he found his head of house sitting beside of the boy’s bed.
“Minerva?”
Turning she gave him a rare smile, “Hello Albus.” Then she turned back to the bed and her shoulders slumped ever so slightly. He pulled up a chair beside of her, and enquired after Harry’s state.
“He hasn’t awoken, but Poppy said she saw some improvement today so that is a good sign.” Then to his surprise, and secret delight, she put her head on his shoulder. Wrapping his arm around her he pulled her closer in order to comfort her. It so happened that he looked down when she looked up, and the next thing he knew he was kissing her and she wasn’t pulling away. When she responded to the kiss his heart soared! And to use a muggle saying, the rest they say is history.
Chuckling now as he reached Minerva’s chambers he wondered what Harry would think knowing he brought them together, and that had he awoken that night it would have been to his teachers snogging. Letting himself in Albus went straight to her bedroom.
For awhile he just watched her sleep, but then he decided that she couldn’t get too mad at him for slipping in next to her and not waking her up. I mean, he reasoned, wouldn’t it maker her feel special that he just wanted to be near her, but he wanted her to get her sleep? Hoping that was how she would see it Albus climbed into the bed leaving his wool socks on. (Someone had finally given him wool socks!)
He got in and scooted real close to Minerva rubbing her leg with his socked feet. He noticed that not long after he had done that Minerva started to get kind of red. Well, red spots on her face, and her face started to swell. All of a sudden Minerva woke up, and turning to look at Albus she jumped clear out of the bed.
“Albus! W-What are you doing here?”
“Well I just got home, and I had missed you so much today I wanted to be near you. Was that wrong of me? Minerva, why is your face all red and swollen?”
“No, darling, that isn’t wrong. You just scared me that’s all. What did you say?”
“Your face,-“ but before he could finish she had run to the mirror in the bathroom and then he heard her scream.
“ALBUS PERCEVIAL WULFRIC BRIAN DUMBLEDORE!!! Did you leave those wretched socks on your feet when you climbed into my bed?”
He just nodded. “Albus, I’m allergic to wool. Did it never occur to you that that might be why I never gave you wool socks for a gift giving occasion?”
“No, my dear, it did not. You should have told me.”
This evidently was not the right thing to say. “ALBUS!!! You are such a man,” she mumbled in frustration.
“Yes, Minerva, I am. But the last time I checked you never complained about that. In fact if some of the noises you make are any indication you like the fact that I’m a man very much.” He knew that if her face had not been red already it would definitely be by now.
“Well I hope you remember the last time you heard them, because you won’t be getting close to me any time soon!” With that Minerva grabbed her dressing gown and ran for the hospital wing.
Albus did not like her last comment, and hoped he could make amends. Removing his socks he too headed for the hospital wing in hopes of placating his love.
When he arrived there Poppy was already attending to Minerva
“Minerva, you know you are allergic to wool. Why did you get near it?” Forgetting that hers and Albus’ relationship was a secret she raised a trembling hand and pointed it at Albus, she had seen him come in, and said, “Ask him! The bloody git just comes waltzing into my quarters, into my bed, and with those bloody socks on!”
“Minerva I assure you it was not my intention to get you sick. I had no idea you were allergic to wool, and I am sorry. My only intention was to be near you after a long day of meetings. I had not seen you, and I had missed you,” he finished looking her in the eye.
Madam Pompfrey didn’t know what to make of this new knowledge, and she couldn’t wait to see the rest of the staff! The rumors were true; there was something going on between the Headmaster and his Deputy Headmistress!
Minerva’s face had softened by the end of Albus’ comments, and she reached out her hand for him to take it.
“Come here, darling. I’m sorry I got mad at you. I should have told you I was allergic to wool, I guess I thought you knew. Forgive me?”
“Only if you forgive me, kitten.” Bringing his hand to her mouth she gave it a kiss, and assured him that she did. When they looked up they only just realized that Madam Pompfrey was still in the room.
“Oh! Poppy I forgot you were here,” Minerva stammered looking intently at the floor.
“Indeed. So, how long have you two been involved?”
“Since the end of last year,” Albus replied. “But I’m afraid that knowledge goes no further than this room, Poppy. There are reasons to secrets, and we will need you to keep ours.”
Poppy looked disappointed, and Minerva started to laugh. “Don’t look to happy for us now Poppy. Don’t worry, we will let you tell the staff when we think it is wise for them to know.”
Poppy seemed to look happier after that. “Well, you may go back to bed Minerva. You will be fine.”
Once in her chambers Minerva pulled Albus toward her bedroom, but he stopped.
“Albus, what’s wrong?”
“Well, are you sure after tonight you want me in your bed?”
“Well we need to get rid of the socks, and change the bedclothes but I’m allergic to wool not you,” she replied smiling. Taking a step to be closer to him she looped her arms around his neck and began to plant little kisses on his face and neck all the while still talking:
“And…for…that…I…am…truly…grateful. Now…why…don’t…you…come…to bed…and…I’m…sure…I…can…find…someway…to…warm…your…feet…and…perhaps…you…can…show…me…just…how…much…of…a…man…you…are,” she suggested. Albus didn’t need to be told twice. He picked Minerva up, and was in her bedroom in two strides.
Luckily for the rest of Hogwarts silencing charms had been placed around Minerva’s room, so no one could hear just how much Minerva loved the fact that Albus was very much a man.
