Challenge 37 – Heat
AN- yes, I wrote this in five minutes so, be kind!
Minerva looked up from her scheduling for the upcoming year. It was a steaming hot summer at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Heat would visibly rise off the ground. With another upcoming heat wave, the grounds would soon become hotter. Minerva got up out of her chair and put another cooling charm on her before going out into the hallway. Her bun was falling apart as she almost ran down the corridor.
The Great Hall had all of its windows open, the fans on, and several muggle air conditioners that had helped with the heat. As she sat down at her regular seat, Filius Flitwick spoke up to confirm everyone’s worst nightmare.
‘Ummm, all the air conditioners have just broken.’ He said. Poppy Pompfrey moaned loudly.
‘And the fans have blown the circuits.’ Another moan came from Poppy with her head leaning against her arm drooping down to the table looking half asleep.
‘This can not be happening!’ shouted Xiomara Hooch. She raised her arms in defeat. ‘Headmaster you *must* do something. It is the middle of the summer and it has been this way for a week!’
‘Xiomara, I’m sorry. I can do as much as any of you can.’ Was the reply from Albus Dumbledore. ‘And, I am afraid I have some terrible news. The water source of Hogwarts has, in a way, disappeared.’
‘So, we have NO water.’ Pomona Sprout’s voice came through almost terrified.
‘No water.’ Filius said.
‘No water to shower in.’ Minerva spoke dreamingly which made most of the staff gasp at her statement. ‘And now, I can’t even shower! I give up!’
‘Now Minerva, we’ll find away to do this. Most of the staff is married to one another. If we ask the house elves I’m sure we can get some water to bathe in two at a time. We still have the back up drinking water for the beginning of the year.’ Albus said reassuringly.
‘Yeah, those brats don’t need water to drink do they?’ Xiomara yelled.
‘Albus, that’s a nice idea, but I’m not married.’ Minerva hissed.
‘You can take one on your own.’ Albus whispered in her ear. ‘And we can have them set up in the Great Hall tonight.’ He told the staff.
And so it was. Showers were set up in reasonable two people stalls scattered about in the hall. Minerva brought her towel, shampoo, and was in only her bath robe. Her hair was down from its bun and she walked barefooted down the hall. The room was full of staff that had not gone home for the summer. Minerva would have to wait until the end because she didn’t have a partner. Albus met her half way with his own shampoo and completely undress with only a white towel wrapped around his waist. His hair was entirely down. As he spoke, Minerva was entranced.
‘Ah, my dear, it seems we are the last here. Shall we?’ He took her hand and tucked it into the crook of his arm as they walked arm in arm. Xiomara was standing with Severus waiting in line for the next shower. She squealed.
‘Oh, I always new you two were together!’ Xiomara said.
‘Xio, we’re not ‘together’.’ Minerva replied.
‘Why not tabby? I always pictured us together.’ Albus spoke up and Xiomara keep grinning. Time went by and they were the last ones in the room. Just before Minerva was about to take her shower, a house elf came up to the professors.
‘Professors, begging your pardon, Gider has come to tell the professors that there is only enough water for one shower. Gider and the others cannot do for two professors, only one shower. But Gider suggests the professors take the shower together.’ And he disappeared.
‘Well Minerva. I’ll wash your back if you’ll wash mine.’ Albus said slowly. All Minerva could do was to nod. They enlarged the shower a little more when they got in. As they undressed, Albus stopped abruptly. He was dumbfounded by the site of the woman next to him. She looked over at him seductively.
‘Is there something you see you like, Albus?’ His name rolled off her lips in a silken Scottish brogue. Minerva signaled for the water. She moved closer to him and put her hand on his chest. Her breath touched his lips only inches away. As he entwined his arms around her waist, he brought his lips to hers.
The kiss was sweet and short but soon got hot with passion. Minerva looped her arms around Albus’s neck. She pulled back only for a second.
‘I love you.’ She spoke.
‘I love you tabby.’ Albus said. And the shower was forgotten.
