I hope this answers the challenge.
Challenge 52 :
"Nicholas my dear fellow," groaned the Bloody Baron "did they remove your head when they nearly beheaded you?"
Nearly Headless Nick looked at the Slytherin ghost for a moment and chose not to answer that particular question, it was hurt him to be reminded of his unbeheaded state and the Baron took great delight in reminding him daily.
"Sir Nicholas," spoke the Grey Lady softly, she knew that still having head caused great discomfort to the Gryffindor ghost and she didn't like the Baron goading him all the time "what are you speaking of?"
"Our beloved Headmaster and Headmistress of course," he replied as he blew out his chest importantly "something must be done."
The Grey lady smiled and nodded her head in agreement, the Baron rolled his eyes and the Fat Friar didn't say anything because he was snoozing away. Nick was floating up and down the hallway, fiddling with his buttons as he thought about his plan. For years now, the castle had watched silently as Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall ignored their feelings for one another and carried on with their day to day lives and running of the school. The portraits would often gossip about them and it had come to point where most of the portraits disappeared from their hangings in Dumbledore's office when it was the weekly chess game.
"They are the most cowardly gryffindor's i have come across," stated the Baron matter of fact "and believe me I have met my fair share."
"Why are you looking at me when you say that?" asked Nick
"You are being over sensitive" replied the Baron with a twisted, unattractive smile.
The Grey Lady knew that if she didn't say something, the stand off between them would last till the next century and she wasn't sure if the Headmaster and his Deputy would still be alive by then especially with rumours of another war.
"Gentleman please?" she urged
"Of course my dear lady," answered the Baron with a nod of his head.
Nick pulled a face behind the Baron's back, he was always making him look bad in front of the Grey Lady. No matter what the conversation was about, the Baron would always turn it around to be about him or steal Nick's ideas.
"As I was saying," announced Nick loudly "the time has come for us to do something about it, don't you agree?"
"It would make them happy!" said the Grey Lady.
"And make the rest of us all sick!" mumbled the Baron "I am not having any part in your foolish plans Nicholas, I have students to scare."
With that, the Baron floated from the room and disappeared. Nick was rather pleased that the big, bloody fool was gone. He didn't like him much and he certainly didn't agree with scaring students. The Fat Friar stirred and let out an ungracious sound from his mouth, the Grey Lady wrinkled her nose up in disgust and turned to look at Nick.
"What do you have in mind?" she asked softly.
"We get them together!" he told her with flare.
She looked at him and sighed, for years now the portraits, ghosts and even the suits or Armour had been trying to get them together and all had happened, had been embarrassing moments for everyone concerned. She didn't think that one plan from Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington would suddenly change what others had been trying to change for years.
"I know what you are thinking my dear," he told her "but we will succeed. I have ideas for letters."
"Letters?" she asked.
"We will write letters to them from each other, declaring love and affection." he explained "They will be so consumed with happiness and they would fall into one another's arms and be happy."
"It sounds wonderful Nicholas but it has been done before," she told him "it didn't work then so why should it work now?"
Nick looked her in the eye and told her "Because we are going it!"
****************************************************
Albus Dumbledore was sat in his office when a letter suddenly appeared on his desk from out of nowhere. He didn't recognize the writing and it intrigued him, he opened it and read the green scribbled words.
Dearest Albus,
I know this is out of the blue but I feel the need to tell you of my feelings, they have been repressed for long enough now and I feel that if I don't tell you now, I am going to explode. I am in love with you, truly, madly, deeply in love with you.
Forever Yours
Minerva
He smiled at the letter, a small chuckle escaped from his lips and he shook his head. The door to his office opened and in walked Minerva McGonagall, she was dressed head to toe in emerald green and looked liked she had, had a rough day teaching.
"Ah my dear," he greeted "a cup of tea and a ginger newt perhaps?"
"That would be my ideal of heaven," came her reply as she sat down in a upright chair near the fire "you look awfully happy"
Albus smiled again and produced the letter "That is because I received this today."
"A letter?" she questioned "They don't usually bring you that much joy unless it's from Honeydukes."
It was true, Albus didn't enjoy getting letters because they were usually from the Ministry or informing him of deaths. He enjoyed his Honeydukes letter's though because they always came with a small bag of sherbet lemons.
He handed her the letter to read while he poured her a cup of tea and pulled out the tin of ginger newts from the draw in his desk. He heard a small chuckle come from her and his blue eyes met with her emerald green ones.
"It's seem to be from our would be matchmakers." she said with a small smile.
"Yes," he agreed "it seems that way."
He walked over and knelt before her, placing his hand on her knee "Do you think it times that we told them we are married."
Minerva cupped his face with her small hands and looked into his eyes, she adored his eyes and the array of different blues what made up his eyes.
"It's more fun like this!" she said before kissing him softly.
