Well, according to my English teacher, I need proof from many different sources to uphold my statement that ADMM is existent. I'm conducting a survey and collating the results as one of my proofs that there are actually people who believe that there is ADMM in the books and Movies. Can all of you help and do the survey? It is much appreciated. The link is below. www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=AMwA746_2bz87Ah0TQ6PGjRg_3d_3d============Edit=============== Would anyone mind me interviewing them on ADMM? Email me at michellemakchien@hotmail.com; cause I won't be coming on for a few weeks due to heavy project loads... =( Thanks a lot. =)

Go get 'em!
By the way, didn't JKR say that we would know about Hogwarts' staff having spouses in the seventh book? And did anyone see anything about spouses?

I did it too. If your teacher doesn't believe it she's blind, it's so obvious!!!! Sorry, I finished the survery with a bit of a rant. But I hope it helps! I noticed that too, littlemorgsi, none of the teachers had spouses! I was so disappointed I just....*sulks*

I took it earlier this morning and I'm one of 45 who believe. If you're one of 3 who don't believe, then I'll get some sense into you if I know who you are. LOL!

;D took it.
I hope it helps. My english teachers in highschool used to have it in for harry potter, I swear. For supposed book-lovers, they never regarded them seriously enough. ): If I even mentioned the idea of MMAD, they'd just scowl at me and roll their eyes. Some people are dumb and can't see what's right in front of their faces ;D

I did it, but I'm tred so I may have misspelled things in the explanation So out of curiosity, what are the reasons those three have for not believing?

Okay, just a quick update. there are currently 67 people who took the survey, and out of these 67, 9 people believe that they are not together, even remotely. I'm not very sure on who answered what, but here are the reasons for them not believing. 1. : "The book is not about Mcgonagall so it would be strange if the movie or book would emphasize on this 'fact'. If the book or movie wants to 'make certain of this relationship', they would have explained it in detail, just like JK Rowling did at the end of the seventh book." 2. : "seriously i think they're only really good friends. like being colleagues together for so long, yeah they must be really close. i don't think they're together. if they were, why shouldn't other people know about it then?" I seriously dislike the bottom response, especially the bit about McGonagall. 3. : "When Albus Dumbledore died, she wasn't really heartbroken, only shocked I reckon. And plus, he's too carefree for McGonagall, who's stern and severe" 4.: "AB does not have a wife. the series has already ended, and there isn't even a slight hint about their possible romantic relationship." 5. : "No, there is no sufficient proof. i highly doubt dumbledore would have the opportunity to have a lover/wife, being so caught up in the wizarding world. besides, it's an unequal relationship." 6. : "thats not the main point of the plot, and so nothing much has been said about it." 7. : "It can only be proven only if there is some proof in the book. However, although they have a common stand on good and evil, we cannot conclude that ADMM exists because no concrete proof exists." 8. : " Professor Dumbledore isnt that bored." The last person didn't write... ;(

I took it, too. I hope it's not too late.
StormAngelxx, last explaination is gruesome. "Professor Dumbledore isn't that bored" - whoever said that, they can't see what's obvious. lol.

I have to say a couple of those answers are a little bit...odd. All the mentions of how the books not about them, so it's not true? Random. I get not being certain, or just maybe thinking they are really good friends, but just because the books centre on Harry, no one else getss to have a life?
stupid people...

Yeah, a few of the answers were odd, but a few made some sense. I think that the easiest route would be to be agnostic on it (even though I think they should be together and there is evidence in the books that points to it, regardless of what JKR may have intended). Of course, it should be pointed out that just because a lot of people believe in something doesn't mean it's true. On the other hand, because this is a work of art up that is up to interpretation in a way that the "Real World" often isn't (even if billions of people believed that the sun circled the earth wouldn't make it true!), it means that the weight of opinion matters more strongly. Within a certain range of interpretation, bounded by what is presented in the work, what people believe they see in a work of art may be said to be a part of that work. Now, I'm not saying that JKR's books are great works of art the way those of Shakespeare or da Vinci are, but they are still open to interpretation, and if a lot of people look at them and see something and they don't see anything that contradicts it, or if the pros outweigh the cons, it does seem reasonable to say that what they are seeing is there, especially if the evidence they all see is overlapping. (Of course, there are always nuts, but you can usually tell them because they walk around viewing EVERYTHING through their own preconceived ideas that exist independent of the work of art -- I doubt anyone begins reading the HP books with some specific preconceived idea that AD MM are a pair, or even that any Headmaster/mistress with a Deputy of the opposite -- or same, even -- sex must be romantically involved!) Anyway, this wasn't particularly well-phrased, but I will be interested to find out what and how you draw your conclusions.

o.0.. Thanks everyone! I reached 100 people at last and the survey is closed. ... I'm starting on my outline, and would like to know if Maggie Smith ever did say that she thought that Min was with Albus. I'm sure I read it somewhere... xD

I think you mean the interview she gave after Richard's death ... Dame Maggie Smith, who starred as Prof Minerva McGonagall to Harris's Prof Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films, said: "My heart goes out to his family. It is a great loss. I am going to miss him terribly.
"We walked around as a pair in Harry Potter. I always think Prof McGonagall was madly in love with him anyway.
"It was a great pleasure to be with him and it's going to be odd doing a Potter film without him. I just don't know what we're going to do."
She added: "You had the feeling he was very frail on set, but he was always there doing his bit.
"I think he loved the films precisely because he was doing it for his grandchildren, who browbeat him into taking the part."That's the only thing I can think of at the moment where Maggie said something like this ... There may be other interviews or something, though ...
