www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/1516According to Muggle Net, Maggie Smith who plays McGonagall has breast cancer. She has had surgery and received Chemo. Apparently, the prognosis is good. My thoughts and prayers are with her.

NOOO!!!! Om mani padme hum!!! Om mani padme hum!!! The things I know are, speaking quack doctor sense: a) she has a good prognosis, b) maybe it's still in stage 0, and c) she still has hair on her head LOL But why did that darn cancer showed its dirty markings now?!?! Even though I knew older women fares better than younger women in terms of prognosis and recovery rate, I still have apprehensions... Dame Maggie, don't you dare kick the bucket before I chase you around the Tower of London!!! Fight the damn thing with an unsheathe sword, in your case, acidic wit!!!

OMFG!!! noooo, why is life so unfair! well, she received chemo while the last HP movie was filmed. that would be one explanation why she hadn't much scenes in it. "Dame Maggie, don't you dare kick the bucket before I chase you around the Tower of London!!! Fight the damn thing with an unsheathe sword, in your case, acidic wit!!! " like Admiral Sun Wentai said. And I agree!! I want to stalk you lady so get better soon!! My best wishes to a great and fabulous actress!!! I had tears in my eyes when I read the articel!! She is a stronge woman! She can fight it, can't she?!

My cousin, a medical student, said that she'll eventually get better. So, I will not worry any further and thus I can enjoy my vacation.

I hope she makes a full recovery. she's an incredibly brave woman. Below, I'm posting a link to the Breast Cancer website, and if you go there every day you can click the link to help give mammograms to women who can't afford them. It's completely free to click, and the corporate sponsors of the site donate the money. www.thebreastcancersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=2

So, I will not worry any further and thus I can enjoy my vacation. being an auxilluary nurse, ive worked on a breast clinic and the amount of people that are cleared/fought it are a very good percentage in my time helping out there (10 months now) only 4 haven't been good news. Known maggie she will fight it- esp that gryffindor side in her =]

having had far too much experience with fighting breast cancer, I know the schpeel pretty well, adn this is a good one. If they only did a lumpectomy, not a mastectomy, and she only went through Chemo, no radiation, then she most likely has the less aggressive form, which is definitely good news. And thankfully, there is so much money going into breast cancer research, they are pretty good at fighting it nowadays.
long and short of it though, totally blows. No way around it, Chemo is a shitty thing to go through. Keep up your appetite Mags, you'll need all the calories you can get!

If she suddenly -you know what- I'll cry buckets! Knowing her, she'll just shrug it off and go on with her routine.

Oh... No! This is... bad news... =/ I don't wish this for anyone. I've lost a aunt 'coz of a breast cancer. But I know Maggie will recover! She is a wonderful and strong woman. Won't be beaten for it! Let's pray and wait... She won't leave us like Richard Harris! (God Bless him!) She said this about her disease and about don't stop working at all: Man, I love her! =) Good luck, Maggie. We all are with you, with heart and thoughts.

I just checked, if there were any news on how Maggie is doing - and I found this on IMDb Wenn: 6 October 2008 5:10 AM, PDTSmith Back At Work Following Cancer FightVeteran actress Dame Maggie Smith is back at work following her reported battle with breast cancer. The British screen legend underwent chemotherapy earlier this year in a bid to destroy cancerous cells. She allegedly braved filming her role of schoolmistress Minerva McGonagall in the upcoming Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince - the sixth film in the wizard hero franchise - while having the energy-sapping treatments. And now the 73-year-old is set to start shooting children's fantasy movie From Time to Time, which had been delayed from March. A source tells Britain's Daily Express newspaper, " Maggie Smith hasn't been well and these projects do tend to ebb and flow in terms of getting everyone available at the right time and getting financing but they are definitely starting this time. ---------------------- I have to admit that this has me as worried as ever, an "All is well now" does sound a little different in my oppinion Please tell me otherwise...

it was reported that she made a full recovery and she wants to continue her roles she even has new roles such as: -Downton Abbey -Gnomeo and Juliet -Quartet -The Hunter -Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: part II
after part 1 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows... the last thing she wanted was to make a fuss about it and she even jokes about it. They were able to identify it in the early stages and was able to treat it.
