Thanks to bloody insomnia, here's the last chapter. Small confession, going to the ballet in St. Petersburg is my ideal date. Minerva's a damn lucky woman!
~Chapter 5~
When the ballet had ended, not sure what Albus had in mind and whether he would be whisking her away to some other far away place, Minerva asked if there was time for a stroll around the city before they carried on with his plans. Albus agreed happily for this had in truth been part of his plan for the evening. They left the Marrinsky Theater and strolled arm in arm through the illuminated city, passing beautiful buildings and historical landmarks until they ended up on a bridge over the Griboedov Canal. Stopping to look out over the partly frosted over water, Albus wrapped an arm around Minerva’s waist and pulled her close. The moonlight was bathing her face, making her look if possible even more beautiful than before, now seemed like as good a time as any so he leaned down and whispered in her ear.
“I love you, Minerva.”
She didn’t respond right away, just turned to him and pressed her body close to his, her arms going around his waist, and buried her head in the front of his cloak. She stayed that way for a few moments, drinking in warmth and strength from the embrace, before she finally pulled back far enough to look up into his eyes.
“I love you too, Albus, I’ve loved you for so long.” There were tears in her eyes before she finished.
“We’ve wasted so much time being foolish, my love, but I refuse to waste another second.”
With those words, Albus leaned down and captured her lips in a passionate kiss. When she sighed slightly, he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss and was delighted when Minerva responded eagerly. Breaking the kiss only when they were about to suffocate, Albus pulled back and looked into Minerva’s eyes. As usual, no words were needed for them to communicate and Albus decided to forgo the rest of his plans and take her back home.
Pulling the portkey back out of his pocket, he murmured, “Shall we continue this evening back at the school, love?”
Minerva just nodded and, without leaving his embrace, reached to touch the portkey. They were soon back on the Hogwarts grounds and making their way arm in arm to the castle. Albus lead Minerva back to his rooms where he lit several candles and conjured rose petals to cover the sheets before helping her take off her cloak. Running his hand through her hair, Albus began to trail kisses down Minerva’s neck. She tilted her head to the side and moaned softly, running her hands over his chest and around his neck. They stumbled backwards toward the bed, various articles of clothing hitting the floor as they went. Albus reached down and picked Minerva up, gently lowering her to the bed before looking questioningly into her eyes. Getting an affirmative response, he began to slowly and passionately make love to her.
Several hours later, a very tired but happy Minerva smiled at the man lying next to her. “You really do have that scar on your knee.”
The last sound in the room before they drifted off to sleep was Albus’ laughter.
