I can understand that, it'll be funny to see how long it takes other people to read it... ;D
I would estimate it to around 2 days, take and give a little, but maybe I'll try my best this time to make it laaasst loooonger... =)
For you know, I just get sooo incredible sad when I'm all done with reading the book, though on the other hand you really wanna finish it quickly so your curiosity is satisfied... DILEMMA!
GoF was definitely read too fast...
Heh heh, we'll see... (I can't believe there's only 29 days left... Wauw! OMG... 29!!!!)

I am expecting about 2 days depending how much I sleep. I am just like you, palanfanaiel, I am so sad once I am finished. I went back and reread OotP about 2 weeks after finishing it the first time. I found I really liked it much better the second time. I am plan on doing this same process as HBP.

Less than 24 hours. I don't have much of a choice. I'll leave for a week long hiking in the woods on July 20, there is no way I can take HBP along for that. I plan to read it twice before leaving and am fervently hoping that one of the kids who come along will have a copy with him/her.

I am planning to read it in 1 day. Two at the most, providing the cats leave me alone. Then I plan to read it again, and again, and again.
The first time I read it will be to get all the questions I have answered, then I will go back and read it more slowly and let it all sink in. The third time I read it will be just for enjoyment and to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Can you believe it? I'll be in Oxford when it's released in English here in DK (same day actually) so I won't get it... but my mum promised to pick it up at the bookstore for me!! ^.^
However, the annoying part is that since I just got home then, they want me to tell them ALL about my trip... and they won't give me the book until I've done that!!! *sniffle* it should be forbidden by law!!
So I just hope that I can tell 'em all about the trip real quick and get my book so I have something to do when I have to sit in a car for two days straight!! ^.^

well... i was a "late bloomer" in the HP world... and it only took me just over two weeks to read the first five books... and i will have to start reading the next one over some crazy southern chick's shoulder... (no trying about it) *G*
however, my copy of the book should be here in the dungeon waiting for me when i get home... so a couple days at the most... if that.

I am signed up to get HBP at midnight, and I am taking my nieces with me- we signed up the first week that it was ready for pre order- once we get the book, I have to take them home and then get home myself and go to work at noon, then I am off the following day but will be at my mums, and the next day i have to work, and the day after that I leave for 10 days to north dakota, so unless I want to lug a 3 pound book about, I have to read it asap... cause I can't wait!!!

Well it shouldn't take me too long to read this one. (i read the first four books in less than a week, that included eating and sleeping and a few days of work) so depending on what other stuff is planned. *sigh* my life is not my own!
but you're right you want to read really quickly because you want to know what happens next. but then you finish and you realize you've got another 2+ years before the next one comes out. grr!

Well I would estimate a day or two since my life isn't my own either. I could do it in one day, but I suppose that wouldn't be such a great idea. I mean driving a car about with less than three hours of sleep would be inviting troubles. So I'm gonna take my time.

well, I know when I started HP, I got the first three books in paperback, and I read them all in 4 days, and the next one, because it was in hardback, I borrowed it from the library, liked it so much that I went out and got the hard back version of it, and then when OOP came out, signed up to have it that night... waited until 2 30 am to buy it in line, and then was driving home and was pulled over at a sobrity check point and they asked if I had anything to drink that night, and I said. No, the snack bar was packed and I couldn't get to the counter. and he looked at me funny and said, where were you? and I said, The new Harry Potter book just came out and I was at the release date party at Barns and Noble, and he was like- Nuh Huh! and I waved the book at him and was like and I have been up for 39 hours straight!" and he asked if I had far to go and I said no, I was staying at my mums who lived local, and do you know that I stayed up till 5 am reading it! I got about 3 hrs sleep then worked a 13 hr shift, got home, read some more and then got some sleep then finished it.
I have off the 15th, and the original plan was to get a hotel room with my nieces, and all of us stay up to read it, but I have to be at work at 12 the next day, so I have to get one of them home, and the other take to my mums house and get some sleep. I have a feeling she is going to stay up though...
I have off the following day, but it is my parents aniversary mass early, and then I am going to take my mum to the cemetary to see dad, and then I have to have everything packed because we leave for North Dakota on tuesday. I let my boss know that I would like to have the evening off, if possible- because- well, hey, I have to be up at 4 am to get the 8 am flight-...
I just hope I don't get lost again from the airport...
But, yeah. Book read before I go. Have too. Can't wait ten days.!!!

The only reason why I took more than a week was because not only did I have numerous distractions, but I can't read as fast as my friends do. Which bugs the crap out of me. ~mmadlyinlove~
