Not the best poll i've come up with but here goes... Will Minerva - bless her - keep Hogwarts open?! I would rather like to know what everyone else thinks before I freak out

Absolutely, I refuse to accept that Hogwarts will close. 7 books, 7 years at Hogwarts. She wasn't conviced, but what was said about Albus liking it to remain open will convince her. And perhaps I am in denial, but it's a nice place, come join me

Yes, I think so. Otherwise, it would kinda change the plot up too much for me. I think Minerva knows that Albus would want to keep Hogwarts open as long as possible.

I think that Minerva will try her very best to keep Hogwarts open, as Albus would want her to, however, the ultimate decision to keep it open or close it will lie with the Board of Governors and, I am afraid, the Ministry.
The real question here is, can she convince them that Hogwarts should remain open. I personally hope she can. I think it will come down to the number of students that will be able to return and how much support the parents will give to the school remaining open.
I think many of the older students will convince their parents to let them return; the younger students, such as the upcoming first years, it may be harder for them to, especially if they do not have older siblings to look after them or to convince their parents.
I really think that Slytherin will not have that many returning due to parents who either are Death Eaters or who support them. Hufflepuff may see not many returning, not because of disloyalty, but because they will remember how one of their house, Cedric, was killed and more of their parents may be uneasy about their returning to a place that may not be as safe as they would like it to be.
I think that most of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw would return. Gryffindor has Harry and I think most of them would fight to return and stand behind him. On the other hand, some parents would find being in the same house as Harry too dangerous. So it could go both ways, especially with the younger years. Ravenclaws are smart and would reason it out that Hogwarts is as safe as anywhere else in the wizarding world and that having your family split up could help some of the family survive if the home is attacked by Voldie.
Thats just some of the ideas that have been running through my head about Hogwarts chances of staying open. I really think it will come down to...can the Board of Governors be convinced and will the MoM have too much say in it.

I think the "final showdown" with Voldemort will be at Hogwarts, to be honest, and I certainly can't see the school being shut up, just gathering dust...

Hogwarts will remain open, but I don't actually think that much of the story will be set there. And I don't think that students will return in the same capacity as previous years. Naturally, parents will want to keep their kids safe, but as Hagrid said, I think that if only one student wanted to return, then the school would remain open for that student!
I do agree with ravenhaired though - the final showdown being at Hogwarts would be a great climax to the story! Either that, or at Godrics Hollow. You know, finishing it off where it all began? That would be nice. OK, getting off topic now! Gypsy

I would really hope that Hogwarts would stay open. If nothing else for poor Minerva's sake. Now that Albus is gone, I'm afraid that if she didn't have the school to maintain and run, then she might do something rash. Like go after Snape... or good old Voldie. *shivers* Prodigy.

That would be very interesting to see (well... read, actually), but JK would probably kill her in the process if that happened.

No, I don't think she'd do it because she doesn't focus on Minerva too much.

I am not sure if Hogwarts will stay open, even though I would like it too. I don't think that Hogwarts will stay open for two reasons. 1) Harry isn't returning. 2) Hogwarts isn't safe anymore. it will be interesting to see how Hogwarts is included in the book. I am kind of dissapointed that the Trio isn't returning because Hogwarts is such an amazing place that Rowling created. Personally, I found reading about Hogwarts and life at Hogwarts just as interesting and captivating as some other aspects of the book. - Jess

I agree totally, but just because the trio will probabaly not returning to Hogwarts for schooling doesn't mean that we won't get to see some action there! ;D Sure it won't be on exactly the same level as the previous books, but I'm sure that we will be visiting the castle again I really can't see Jo totally ignoring the school at this point in the series and I'm betting that Hogwarts has something very valuable to offer Harry in his "Hunt for the Horcruxes"! Hmmm...

I say absolutely because Minerva McGonagall is not one to let things get in the way of anything she finds important, especially a child's education. I think she'll keep i open, even if Harry does not attend in his seventh year.... So yeah...
