lol
My best friends in highschool were genuises. I had a 3.9 out of 4.0 and I was 12th in my class, but I was friends with all those ahead of me. Do you guys take the ACT? Anyway, it's out of 36 and my two best friends got a 36 and a 33. 30 doesn't look too great after that! I am constantly surrounded by people who are smarter than me. The avg ACT score for Ohio State University's incoming freshman class is around a 28. These people are flipping brilliant!

I know what you mean. No matter how well I did, they always seemed to do better and get better grades. Especially my friend Jessica. She would always show me up in English, though she tried to act as though I were smarter. Bleh! ~mmadlyinlove~

The ACT is a standardized test that high school students take to assess their readiness to enter college. Some universities will only let people in who score high enough on the test. There is a written portion which is an essay and then a multiple choice section that covers math, english (vocabulary mainly if I remember right), sciene, and reading (comprehension). A perfect score is 36. The average according to this chart www.actstudent.org/scores/norms1.html is around a 20. But as you can see the percentiles jump from there. GPA stands for Grade Point Average. Basically, on a 4 point scale, A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, and E/F=0. There are points in between for A-, etc. They add up your points, divide by the number of classes and there you are. Make sense?

God that's complicated.... We just get a grade for each subject. When I was at school it was A-F. Now there's A* (higher than A). We used to get + or - within each grade but my friends daughter says they don't have that now. To get into university we have to apply to the ones we choose then they offer a place dependant on a number of points (when I was applying it was A=10, B=8 etc, but not sure what happens now with the A*) Thanks for the info hon.. :-)

I graduated HS with a 4.0 and I got a 28 on the ACT the second time I took it. I did okay on the SAT, though my math wasn't so great. But I took the new SAT with the essay and did really well with that. I had high scores compared with a lot of friends at my school, but some of my friends at another school got something like 34 and 35 on the ACT, grrrr...
