Yep thats one of her best. Love the line..."it's Grace here...would you like to come out from under the bed" Love your AV btw osusprinks I love Mirium too. When she said that I screamed "DON'T KILL THEM!!!" lol My boyfriend and our friend Zak were laughing at me. Miriam Margolyes is amazing! I got to see her live when she was touring in The Importance of Being Earnest and she was so wonderful! Since then I have been seeing her in films that I've already watched, but she is so good I never realized it was her!

If it's going to be a while why not try ebay or amazon. You never know your luck.

I can't believe we had Keeping Mum in Columbus but you haven't seen it in California. So odd. It is excellent!

I would try Amazon, but it seems every time I order something from there, something odd happens. One time I ordered a movie and it wasn't the version I wanted, and another time they charged me twice and sent me two movies when I only wanted one. Grr, huh? ~mmadlyinlove~

That's very odd. I order from Amazon all the time and I haven't had that problem yet, thank goodness. I don't think it has come out in region 1 dvd yet anyway.

I'm still very interested in why it would be out in the midwest but not on the west coast of America. Are you guys just to hippy-ish for Brit humor? lol j/k

To be honest I'm suprised it was released at all in the US. I didn't think that Americans would appreciate the black humour. (hope they release it near you soon mmadlyinlove)

I think there are many Americans that have an obsession with British things. At least among my friends and their friends. We all watch BBC America and BBC World News is the only news I watch (when I can watch the news). I love just about all humor as well. I love black humor though! jayejaye, are there other British "black humor" movies you would suggest? Maybe I can get some of them here.

hmmm, As you have BBC America osusprinks i suppose you have seen British sitcoms like Blackadder, Monty Python, Absolutly Fabulous, Little Britain, Fawlty towers(my personal favorite..my friends nicknamed me Basil at school) and One foot in the Grave. As far as films go my absolute favourite is Twin Town...set in a small town in Wales.. while not really black 4 Weddings and a funeral has some dark moments.(and half the cast of keeping Mum) Nuns on the Run is another good one (and it stars Hagrid). Oh What a Lovely War is an older film, and stars Maggie ;-) Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels, Green Street (this might have had a US release as it has Elijah Wood in it), Trainspotting, L4YER CAKE,'thats the spelling' (staring the lovely new Bond and Michael Gambon) while not being comedies are all very dark and perhaps more realistic of the British, at least in the cities( we're not very nice people really). I don't know if they would be on region 1 but Teachers, Black Books, No Angels, Catherine Tate and Green Wing (mmadlyinlove if you like stupid humour you will love this) are all British comedy series that are now on DVD. Oh god I'm rambling now aren't I? Sorry I love Brit TV and film and when I get started.... I'll shut up now. Hope that helped. jayejaye.

Grr... I'm hating ff.net right now cuz I'm not receiving any of my reviews for my stories. I have to go to my stats page to find them... Gr.... Luckily I haven't been getting a whole lot of reveiws lately *or is that unfortunately? I don't know* I'd feel bad for leaving anyone out of review responses because ff.net is being a butt. So I hope anyone who was crazy enough to read or review my stories isn't offended cuz I didn't reply! I love to reply to them! ~mmadlyinlove~

Black Humour sees the funny side of the darker things in life. Like death, war etc. Or just the general absurdity of people and futility of life. It's known in Europe as a particularly Brit trait. Oh and I reviewed when she loved me earlier today hon. (If that makes you feel any better)

It does, believe me. I think I read it and replied, but ff.net is being such a butt that you might not have gotten it. But thank you for reviewing. I don't remember everything I said in that reply, but I did want to thank you for taking time out of your day to read my humble story. ~mmadlyinlove~

jayejaye, what is your ff.net name? Thanks for the list of movies. I will add them to my list of things to see. That list keeps getting longer. I've never seen Fawlty Towers (I don't think so anyway, unless is that about a hotel maybe?). Ab Fab was on Comedy Central all the time. That was one of my favorite shows when I was in high school. I watch Little Britain sometimes with my boyfriend. he and his roommate love it! I tend to watch BBC America during the day so I see As Time Goes By, Are You Being Served?, and Keeping Up Appearances (or something like that I think). I love Benny Hill and Monty Python. I want to see Spamalot so badly. The songs are hilarious. Anyway I am doing my own rambling now! Thank you!

it's jayejaye78 someone had already taken jayejaye Fawlty towers is about a hotel (by John Cleese of Monty Python) I love keeping up appearances. Patricia Routledge (hyacinth) is who I imagined Umbitch to look like when I read OotP.Sadly it's not on over here any more, nor is As time goes by Blackadder is definatly worth watching if you can. there were 4 series each set in different historical periods. But Rowan Atkinson plays the title caracter in each. (I think Miriam is in series 1) in fact there are quite a lot of people who are now famous in it. Sorry rambling again.(oh and Catherine Tate is a sketch show 100 times funnier than little britain imho)
