Yeah, sorry, was inspired by the other Dames Battle and someone suggesting these two candidates. And of course the temptation was way too overwhelming. *ahem* But at least I thought I could be nice and give you option 3. ;D

Well, I think the first one was harder for me only because my top three faves are Maggie Smith, Angela Lansbury, and Julie Andrews. I haven't seen enough of Judi Dench's work to know if I like her or not. I'll have to wait for Ladies in Lavender. Haha. ~mmadlyinlove~

Took me ages to finally realise Judi's genius... actually until I watched Mrs Henderson. That one really made me so curious about her that I just had to go and see her on stage in London last summer. And well... have been addicted to her as well ever since. ;D

And then you showed me Mrs Henderson and I started squeaking . Have a guess at what I voted, young lady . But good poll.

A tougher choice than the last poll but Maggie still has it every time. (much as I love Judi). mmadlyinlove I love Angela Lansbury too.. Bedknobs and broomsticks....yay. We don't see much of her in England really just Murder she Wrote.

I also have to say that the other one was more difficult to decide ... Here it's most definitely Maggie ... ;D I like Judi, too, but I'm not as crazy about her as I am about Maggie or Julie, for that matter ...

Yeah, it is a really tough choice... guess I'd start eating myself if I had to choose between Jools, Mags and Judi. *g*

I had to pick Judi. As I am typing this I am watching As Time Goes By on DVD. I just love her. My friends are sick of the ads for that new James Bond movie because everytime it comes on I say oh I love her! lol
Don't get me wrong, I love Mags as well! Earlier today I watched Keeping Mum and everytime she gave that little smile I marvelled over her acting abilities. She was so nuts and yet still I loved her!
Angela Lansbury has been my favorite actress forever. When I was little I wanted to be her so badly and watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks so many times that I had it memorized at one point. I loved her on MSW and really everything else she has ever been in. She's too good.
Which leaves Julie Andrews, who is goodness and grace. I wish I could carry myself like she does. She is amazing as well.
Really I would do just about anything to have the talent each of these ladies has! I think we are lucky to be able to enjoy the four of them!

I love Angela Lansbury as well. Everyone would get mad at me cuz when I was younger there were certain movies I would watch over and over again and Bedknobs and Broomsticks was one of them. I used to pretend she was my grandma. Hook was another one. Well, any Peter Pan movie I watched a million times, but that was one of them, lol! But yeah, I love Maggie Smith, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews (LOVED her in PD and Mary Poppins. Oh, and Sound of Music... Okay, anything I've seen her in thus far). I also like Eileen Breannan, but not as much as the first three. LOL! ~mmadlyinlove~

I'm so glad that I had an option to vote for in this poll... You evil thing!! I can not and will not choose between my Dames! They both are poetry in motion and awe-inspiring to watch perform.
For anyone who isn't in love with DJD yet may I humbly recommend "Her Majesty Mrs Brown"... incredible! Or if you haven't watched "As Time Goes By" run don't walk to find the DVDs.
And for anyone who still needs to see the true genius of DMS... "The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne" is heartbreaking. Difficult to find but well worth the effort. Or for comic effect... I laughed till I cried watching her in "Curtain Call."

jayejaye, have you ever seen Clue? And Murder, By Death? In Clue she played Mrs. Peacock and in Murder By Death she played Tess Kensington, the one who came with Sam Diamond. She was also in Babes in Toyland (Mother Hubbard) and a few episodes of Will & Grace (Zondra with a Z, hahaha). ~mmadlyinlove~
