I love this story so much!! It was shown to me by Cammie and then I just couldn't leave it, at first I didn't know why, but now I know!! One can never simply leave a story as wonderful as this!! Although the saying is probably worn out by now, I'll say it anyways; I'm hooked!! Can't wait for the next installment!!

I’ll Hold Your Hand
Chapter Four
“Could I dry off first?” Minerva asked, her voice quivering. Not only were her lips trembling, they were turning blue.
“Sorry,” grumbled Albus. He stepped out of the tub. He was pretty cold himself. He didn’t see anything with which to dry off however. Great.
“There are some paper towels in the kitchen,” Minerva ventured, hugging herself.
His shoes made loud sucking noises as he walked to the kitchen. He found a couple of rolls in the closet and headed back to the bathroom.
“Where are your clothes?” He was not going to be able to discuss anything with the sight of her nipples pressed against her wet t-shirt.
“I washed them and they are hanging over the banister.”
Albus stepped out of the bathroom and looked toward the third floor. Sure enough, he could see the outline of clothing hanging off the railing.
“I’m going to start a fire in the fireplace and we can set our clothes in front of it to dry. It shouldn’t take long.” He left the room.
Minerva stayed put for several minutes. She removed the t-shirt and dried herself with the paper towels. Taking a peek out the door, she scuttled to the third floor and pulled her bra off the railing. It was wet but it would cover the necessities at least.
Albus spread his clothes to the left of the fireplace. There was room for Minerva to spread her clothing to the right. He stood dressed in a damp pair of boxers and grimaced. He knew it had been a bad idea to hire her and now he was stuck. She had nowhere to go. He couldn’t even fire her in good conscience.
He looked up when he heard her enter the room. She wore a simple white bra and her pink knickers. Albus groaned silently. She would look good wearing a potato sack but dressed in her underclothing she was incredible.
Minerva was having similar thoughts. His legs were pale but solid. He was muscular in a slight way and there were light auburn hairs sprinkled across his stomach. She didn’t linger at his midsection long because his boxers didn’t hide much from her view.
Minerva spread her clothes beside his and took a seat on the floor near the fireplace. She heard Albus take a seat as far from her as he could while still staying in front of the fire.
“So,” he said, “why did you feel it was necessary to douse me with pepper potion?”
“I didn’t know it was you. I thought it was an intruder.”
“I own this house. You were the intruder.”
“I know and I’m sorry. I thought I could sleep here tonight, clean tomorrow, and then check into an inn for tomorrow night after you pay me.”
Albus sighed audibly. It was just as he thought. “I need to ask you some questions. Did you run away from home?”
Minerva frowned at him. Runaway? She had been evicted from the only home she had known because taxes were owed and she had been unable to pay.
“Sorry, that would have been impossible. I enjoyed my home.”
“I know you are of age, but parents will always worry about their children and even if you are seventeen or eighteen, I don’t feel right letting you stay here without them knowing.”
“I’m twenty-one!” She glared at his raised eyebrows. “I didn’t run away from home. My grandmother died and I couldn’t pay the taxes she owed for the house so it was foreclosed and the bank took it. I came here because I think my father lives here.”
“You think?”
“My mother never married him and he didn’t know I existed. I think he lives here. I hoped to try to meet him. He is all the family I have left and I’ve never met him. My mother died when I was twelve but she gave me up when I was three and I lived with my grandmother.”
Her story came out in a jumble of phrases but Albus caught the gist of it. She was alone in the world with no money, no family, and no home.
“Are you going to fire me?” Minerva hardly dared to meet his eyes but she did.
“And what would you do if I did? Where would you go?”
“I slept on the street last night and I could probably manage again. I hope to find my father soon.” She didn’t say she wasn’t even sure if she had the right man.
Albus cringed when he heard her say she slept outside last night. It had been cold, too cold for someone dressed as she was dressed.
“Look, this won’t work.”
Minerva felt panic rise in her throat again.
“You can’t stay here and I can’t let you sleep on the street. You will have to come home with me. You can stay until you’ve worked long enough to manage something on your own.”
Minerva’s eyes lit up with relief at his words.
“Let’s dress and get out of here. We’ll catch pneumonia or worse if we go out in wet clothes but it should only be an hour or so before our clothes are dry.”
Minerva nodded in agreement. An hour wasn’t long and the chance to sleep in an actual bed was too good to pass up.
Albus started a desultory conversation that didn’t press and Minerva was soon telling him things she never intended. He was intuitive and picked up on her fears of not finding her father, not being able to make money, and not having a home.
He told a few stories of his own and soon had her laughing at some of the antics he and his brother, Aberforth, had pulled during their childhood. He was surprised that he didn’t feel threatened by Minerva. She was barely covered yet he didn’t find himself in a state of arousal.
She periodical turned her clothes over to make sure both sides had time in front of the fire.
“I think they are dry enough to wear home at least.”
Both stood awkwardly. It seemed silly to leave the room to dress after seeing each other in their underwear so they resolved the issue by turning their backs on each other. This would have been the best option if both hadn’t leaned over at the same time so their bums rubbed against each other.
Electricity shot through Albus as each jumped forward to escape contact. Albus rushed into trousers and his shirt. Both quickly finished dressing and while Minerva gathered her things, Albus walked through the house making sure all was secure.
Albus guided her by the elbow as they left the house.
“Albus, what made you come here tonight?”
“I saw a light on and decided to check. I usually check the vacant properties at night to make sure there’s no problem and that the workers locked up.”
Minerva didn’t question why he was checking it so late at night. It was nearly two in the morning and she was sleepy.
Albus gave her the apparation particulars and she disappeared from sight to reappear instantly at his side on the sidewalk in front of an enormous house.
“It’s a castle,” she said in awe.
Albus smiled. Minerva must not have seen too many homes. “Welcome to Dumbledore Manor.” He opened the door and led her inside. The door closed with a snap and Albus was certain prison bars clanged in the same manner

That isn't to say that I don't love the entire chapter because I do... but that sentence... wow....

I’ll Hold Your Hand
Chapter Five
Albus Dumbledore smelled fresh coffee. He rolled over in bed with one eye on the clock. He stretched and scratched his chest, wincing as the tender skin smarter under the scrape of his nails. He would have to take some pain-relieving potion. He sat up as last night’s events came to surface. Then he smelled something cooking and it smelled wonderfully.
His salivary glands began to tingle in anticipation. Bacon. That was definitely bacon he smelled. Despite the fact that he had only a few hours sleep, he was out of bed and in the shower within minutes. Within fifteen minutes he had showered and dressed and was pounding down the stairs to the kitchen.
Minerva stood at the stove poking her wand at something in the frying pan while watching a wooden spoon stir something on the counter. She saw him standing there and flashed him a bright smile.
Her hair was damp and pulled into a loose ponytail. She looked adorable and not a day over seventeen.
“Good morning,” she said. “I hope you don’t mind that I started breakfast. I felt it was the least I could do after last night.”
“How was your room?”
“It was heavenly. I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in days.” She placed a cup of coffee before him and set cream and sugar beside him.
He added a little cream and took a sip. It wasn’t too strong or too weak. He could learn to live with this.
“You didn’t have much in your fridge so I had to make do. I hope you don’t mind omelets?”
“I will eat anything I haven’t cooked. I usually just grab something at the diner from Polly.” He watched her serve up bacon, crumpets, the omelet, and mushrooms. His stomach growled loudly and she smiled as she placed the plate before him.
Minerva watched him attack his food as though he hadn’t eaten in a week. His manners were impeccable but it didn’t take long for him to clean his plate.
She had a much smaller portion on her plate and took her time eating. She wanted to savor every bite.
He began talking over his second cup of coffee. He offered to help find her father or at least to search out the man she was seeking. Minerva wrote down the scanty information she had. Other than a name and his occupation, she didn’t have much.
“Do you think you can find him?” Minerva looked worried. So much was riding on finding her father.
“It shouldn’t take too long. If this man is your father and he’s living around here then I will find him,” assured Albus.
Minerva smiled. This meant everything to her. Albus was going to find the one person left in the world that could possibly care about her, be her family.
It was official. Albus Dumbledore was her hero.
She cleaned the kitchen while he wrote notes and she departed for work after bidding him good day.
It was six o’clock when Albus arrived at his rental property. He hurried up the steps. He was about to make Minerva a very happy woman.
Girl he reminded himself. It was much better thinking of her as a girl. She was too young and he was old enough to know better.
He unlocked the front door and entered.
“Minerva!” He called her name loudly so she would be alerted to his presence. He didn’t want another encounter with pepper potion.
“I’m in the bathroom, cleaning,” she added.
He walked through the house noticing how much progress she had made. The kitchen was spotless. Every room he entered was cleaned and thoroughly. He reached the bathroom and looked inside.
Minerva was kneeling nest to the tub. She was bent over and her skirt was pulled tightly across her bum. She was vigorously scrubbing the drain and he took in how her hips swayed with the effort.
“Everything looks great,” he said looking anywhere but her curvy behind.
Minerva looked over her shoulder and gave him a grin. “Thank you. I’m almost finished.”
He watched her for several more minutes before letting her know he would go inspect the other rooms. Twenty minutes passed and he was paying her for a job well done.
Minerva’s eyes gleamed at the money. Twelve galleons, four sickles, and one knut were quite a sum for someone who had no money. She began spending the money in her head. She had to repay Polly and she wanted to set some aside so she could move. Albus wouldn’t let her live at his house indefinitely.
“If we leave now, we can stop by the store and I can pick up groceries for dinner. It won’t take long to whip up a meal.”
Albus removed a slip of parchment from his pocket. “As lovely as that sounds, I thought we would grab a quick bite and head over to Sorcery Drive.”
Minerva looked at him, her eyes asking him questions.
“I thought we might drop in on one Angus MacWhannell.”
“You’ve found my father?” Minerva closed the distance between them and threw her arms around him.
Denying himself the company of women had been helpful for Albus until Minerva pressed her body against his. He was reminded of her softness and firm skin.
He cleared his throat. “I found a man by that name living here in Hogsmeade. We’ll have to meet him to ask if he’s your father.”
“My goodness! I’m a mess. I can’t meet him looking like this.” Minerva glanced at herself in the mirror and moaned. Her face was pale, her clothes grubby, her hands red despite wearing gloves, and her nose was shiny.
Albus thought she was lovely but wisely refrained from saying so.
“Minerva, we can stop by the house so you can change.” Minerva looked at him uncertainly causing him to ask, “That is if you would like me to accompany you.”
“Oh yes, I would. Could we leave now?”
Albus quickly locked up while Minerva put away the cleaning supplies. A quick bite to eat would have to wait until later. She was far too excited to eat anything anyway. He only hoped Angus would be as happy as Minerva.

I’ll Hold Your Hand
Chapter Six
Albus was correct. Minerva immediately ran to her room once they returned home and didn’t come out again for half an hour. She was in a simple skirt and blouse but her hair gleamed and her eyes shone with excitement and nervousness.
“Do I look alright?”
“Minerva, you look fine. Trust me if he’s your father, he isn’t going to care what you’re wearing.” Albus patted her arm reassuringly and asked if she’d rather eat first.
Minerva shook her head. “I really want to meet him first.”
They apparated to a lovely street that Minerva hadn’t seen before and Minerva admired the tall trees and lovely gardens in front of each home. This was a neighborhood filled with families. They started up the walk and she could swear everything switched into slow motion. Her legs were so shaky she stumbled on the steps leading up to the porch.
Albus hooked an arm through hers and hauled her close to his side. He must have felt her shaking, because he said, “relax, it will be fine.”
He rang the bell. An eternity passed before Minerva heard footsteps inside, and the rattle of the doorknob. She held her breath as the door finally swung open and warm light poured over her face.
“May I help you?”
A woman in her fifties looked out at them. She was richly dressed and smells wafted from the house. Albus’ mouth watered. He nudged Minerva but for the life of her, Minerva couldn’t move.
Finally he stepped forward. “My name is Albus Dumbledore and this is Minerva McGonagall. We’re looking for Angus MacWhannell.”
“Albus Dumbledore, the architect? You have a real estate office in town. Angus is my husband.”
“Could we speak with him? We apologize for coming at supper time.”
Minerva and Albus were invited inside and shown a seat in the front parlor. Minerva sat stiffly, tense in anticipation. Albus was about to speak to her when a man appeared in the doorway.
Angus MacWhannell was nearly sixty but he looked older to Minerva. It may have been because the only picture she had seen of her father had been taken when the man was in his last year at Hogwarts. This man did look similar to the seventeen-year-old boy in the picture she had seen. There was a familiarity about him, something that clicked inside, and she realized she was looking at a face that wasn’t too dissimilar to her own.
Albus must have realized it also because he gave her arm a squeeze.
“What can I do for you?” Angus had a raspy voice and Minerva wondered if he had been ill.
Gathering every bit of courage she could muster, her heart beating so hard it was nearly bursting from her chest, Minerva stepped forward and said, “Hello, I am Minerva and I think I may be your daughter.”
Angus looked shocked. “There must be some mistake. The only daughter I have is named Maggie.”
Minerva wondered if she had a half-sister then. “My mother spent a weekend with a man in Birmingham, twenty years ago. She told my grandmother his name and a few other bits of information. She didn’t contact him when she learned I was coming because she didn’t want to make him feel indebted.”
The man continued to stare at her.
Minerva fished in her pocket for a picture. “This is what she looked like.”
The man took a look at the picture, then at Minerva. She knew he was comparing their features. Minerva’s mother had been fair with blonde hair and blue eyes. Minerva’s raven locks and emerald eyes matched those of the man staring at the picture.
“I’ve never had the opportunity to visit the Birmingham area. I have never traveled much. I am sorry but there’s no way I can be your father.”
A sick, sinking sensation gripped her heart. “But she wrote about you in a journal. She said you spent the weekend together. She said you fell in love with each other.”
Angus MacWhannell shrugged his shoulders. “I’m very sorry. I wish it were true.” *********************************************************************** Albus opened the door to his home and carried in the containers of food. Polly had been more than happy to prepare a meal for two and to pack it up for him. Minerva had declined to eat but he knew there wasn’t food in the house, or at least not much, and she was bound to get hungry.
And he was worried about her.
She looked so crushed when they left the MacWhannell house and she didn’t say a word once they had arrived home. He had left to obtain dinner but he didn’t think she would join him.
Food in hand, he headed up to her room balancing a tray. He knocked softly on her door.
Albus lifted the tray higher when the door opened. “I know you said you weren’t hungry but I got you something anyway.”
“Thank you but it wasn’t necessary,” she said so softly he had to strain to hear her.
“May I bring it in?”
She hesitated only a moment before stepping back and motioning him inside.
He set the tray on her night table and couldn’t help noticing the crumpled tissues in the waste can. Either she had been crying or she developed a sudden cold. He turned and caught her dabbing at her eyes again.
There had to be something he could do or say, something to make her feel better. He had never felt so helpless and at a loss for words before. Well almost never.
Minerva sat on a small sofa near the window with her legs tucked underneath her.
He walked over and sat next to her. “Is there anything I can do?”
She sniffed and shook her head. “I’m never going to have a family.”
Her words tore at his heart and he did the only thing he could, the only thing he wanted to do, which was to hold her.
He slipped an arm around her shoulders and nudged her closer. The next thing he knew, her arms were around him and she was holding on for dear life, sobbing her heart out against his chest.
He didn’t feel so helpless now. Maybe all she needed was to feel less alone. He held the young woman in his arms long after her sobs subsided. He liked holding her. He wasn’t feeling a sexual attraction. He just felt normal. There was no pressure to perform, no fear that he wouldn’t be able to either.
He had never really been this physically close to a woman without having some kind of sexual intentions. In fact, he didn’t really have female friends, only former lovers and hopefully would be lovers.
Feeling like a whole man for the first time in months he rubbed Minerva’s back and gently rocked her.
She lifted her head and looked into his eyes. “What do I do now? I was so sure he was the one. Now I don’t have a home or a family. I don’t have any resources. I thrived on the hope of finding him for years. Now it’s gone. There’s no hope left.”
Her eyes were so full of hurt it broke Albus’ heart.
“You do have a home. You can stay here and work for me as long as you need to do so.”
“I can’t stay here forever. I can’t be a cleaning lady for the rest of my life.”
Albus smiled gently at her. “You can be a cook and open a restaurant.”
She sniffed and smiled slightly. Her eyes were red-rimmed and puffy, and her nose was pink, but he had never seen her more beautiful.
He didn’t make a conscious decision to kiss her. It just happened. He lowered his head just a fraction and their lips were touching. All his thoughts of thinking of her as a girl instead of a woman flew out the window. He was holding a woman in his arms. A soft, pliable woman with breasts crushed against his chest.
He was certain that things would be different now. He was cured. It felt so good to kiss her. His ardor grew and the kiss deepened before a moan of pleasure drifted from her lips.
Her hands in his hair felt wonderful and he felt his arousal grow firmer. He began to feel lightheaded, then dizzy. It was starting again. The pressure he felt, his fears came to surface and suddenly he couldn’t breathe. His head began to spin, if he didn’t get a hold of himself, he would pass out.
“Breathe into this,”
He heard her words from miles away. He felt Minerva shoving a paper bag to his face and he closed his eyes.
“That’s it. Breathe slow and deep.”
He felt the tightness in his chest begin to ease but the worst wasn’t over. He had too much adrenaline in his system and he began to shake. Deep, violent shudders racked his body. He felt Minerva cast a spell and he felt the sofa beneath him change. It felt like a mattress was beneath him. She gently pushed him back until he was lying down.
He kept his eyes closed until the tremors stopped. Humiliation began to creep in. She would certainly think he was weak now. He opened his eyes to see her emerge from the hallway carrying blankets.
“I’m going to put these around you,” she announced from a few feet away. She slowly approached him and tucked the blankets around him snugly.
Another wave of humiliation washed over him. He had never wanted a witness to what happened to him. What would happen now? He closed his eyes. Maybe if he slept, he could dream it all away. Wishing never worked but perhaps if he tried hard his dreams would give him an escape.
