There are people from many different places here. I speak Portuguese, Spanish and a little English, and you? What are the languages you speak?

I speak and read (American :-)) English as my native tongue, can read, write and understand most forms of British English <vbg>, and can read Spanish fairly well, and speak it somewhat--South/Central American varieties more than Castillan, though. I'm fairly fluent when it comes to discussing library policies in Spanish, however! <vbg> "Necesita una tarjeta de biblioteca?" <g>
I tend to be able to read more languages than I can speak. At one time I could read Biblical Hebrew and some New Testament Greek, and basic travelers' Italian. (Whenever I tried to *speak* Italian, though, it usually came out as Spanish!) If I had infinite spare time and independent wealth <g> I'd try learning Welsh just for fun, since that's my family's heritage.

Well, as I'm from Germany I speak German (actually most of the time it's not really German but a dialect, but oh well ... ), but I also speak English, Italian, a little bit of Spanish, I used to speak French (more or less fluently, but I fear that most of it has left me ) and I started to learn Danish ... Oh - and when I was in school I had three years of Latin, but I don't really remember anything there ...

I speak English.
I took French classes in school, but, since my French teacher was more interested in educating us on the subject of Celine Dion (I've never seen someone so obsessed with any celebrity...ever) than teaching us the French language, I'm not very fluent. When people speak French, I can get the gist of the conversation and I can read it on a basic level, but I'm useless at speaking it.
I once tried to learn Russian from my father. Never try to learn Russian, unless you have a lot of patience and time on your hands.

Wow I feel like an underachiever. Hahaha. I can speak English, a little Spanish (that is Mexican Spanish as opposed to the various other forms, i.e. Spanish Spanish, Cuban Spanish, etc), a little bit of American Sign Language, and am fluent in Op-Talk, which isn't exactly a language but something my family speaks. It's great when you don't want anyone to know what you're talking about, and hilarious to see people's faces when you first speak it. Hahaha. And you can speak it no matter what language you speak. ~mmadlyinlove~

I'm, like, 1 and 1/4 lingual. Although, if being able to sing along to most Rammstein songs counts as "knowing a little German," then I could consider myself 1 and 1/2 lingual...

Oh! Latin és una lengua muy bela, ¿no? Tengo voluntad de aprender.

English is my native language, and I've been learning german for six years. I can obviously speak English, but I think German is easier to write. English has a lot of strange spellings :S I learnt french and latin for two years but umm...let's not go there! I think the one latin word I remember is 'circumspectat,' which means to look around or something. So yes, I blates rock at that language. I found French very hard to speak, I never had the patience for the pronunciation. German's a lot easier with the pronunciation, just say everything you see ;P

And don't ever sound too melodic or soft ... In short, as a very good friend of mine puts it "Sound like an SS officer and you'll be fine" ... And she's right ... ;D

I agree, German is quite a harsh language and it sounds so scary when it's yelled But still my favourite language by far When I first read your comment with the SS I thought you were making an anti-german kinda statement and I was kinda like :S ... and then I saw 'location: Germany' I was like and breathe.... LOL

*loooooool* Well, I'm glad that was cleared up ... ;D I have to admit that German is not my favourite language, even if I am German - Italian is, cause it sounds just soooooooooo much nicer and way more beautiful than German ever could - but I would not go so far as to make an anti-German statement ... It is after all my native language ...

Just English. Yes, yes, all grumble about the ignorant English. We're not sorry, we're just set in our ways But seriously, I studied German for 3 years and French for 5 in school and just nothing. I recall a little French and I'm liable to slip certain phrases I know from time to time, just because I like them. I can't speak it on account of the tenses were beyond me when I learned it, so I'd struggle now I've forgotten most of it. And I don't really know any german, just odd words. I would lean, but languages are just not my strong suit.
