A/N: The end of the story, at long last. Thank you so much to everyone who read and reviewed this story - I really appreciate it! Enjoy this final chapter!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A week after Caroline’s birthday, it was James and Jean’s first anniversary. As a surprise for them, Salah and Judith had booked a suite for them for a week at the Winter Palace Hotel in Luxor, where they had married. James and Jean flew down to Luxor and were taken directly to the Winter Palace Hotel.
“This was such a wonderful anniversary surprise from your parents!” Jean exclaimed when they checked in.
“Yes, it is,” James agreed.
As soon as they arrived at their suite, the same one they had had the year before during the first days of their honeymoon. Overcome with the passion that had characterised the first days of their marriage, and in fact still was present even a year and a child later, he dropped their bags on the ground and took his wife in his arms, kissing her passionately. She gave herself up to the moment, pulling him to her, wrapping a leg around his waist, gasping as she felt his erection grow harder against her.
“Oh, James, James,” she moaned. “I love you so, so, much,” she said.
“And I love you, Jean; I love you,” he told her, unzipping her dress as he spoke. He half-carried her over to the bed, lying her down so that he could unfasten his trousers. He did not bother with his shirt, but joined her on the bed as soon as he had kicked off his trousers.
“Oh, God, yes; yes, James, yes!” she cried as he entered her. He moaned as she grasped his back, bringing him even closer to her.
“Oh, I love you, love you,” James said as he began to come.
“James, James!” she called out to him as he collapsed on top of her. She held him to her tightly as they fell asleep.
The week passed quite happily for the two of them; they spent most of their time in bed, making the most of their alone time. After the week had finished, they flew back to Cairo for the remainder of their vacation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The last month of their vacation passed peacefully, and they returned to Scotland two weeks before the start of school. Judith and Salah returned to Edinburgh with them as well – Salah was on a diplomacy mission for a month. A week after they returned, it was Jean’s birthday – they had Caroline and Margaret stay with Judith and Salah while James took her to go see Anna Pavlova.
When James told her that he had gotten tickets to see Anna Pavlova, she squealed and threw her arms around him.
“Oh, James, really?” she cried.
He nodded.
“Oh, James!” she began to shower his face with kisses.
She had bought a new dress for the occasion, a long, deep violet silk dress; and had bought white, elbow-length gloves. James had bought her a new strand of pearls and matching earrings. She modelled her dress for him before they left, and he was very pleased with her appearance.
“You look absolutely ravishing, my darling,” he whispered in her ear. “Simply divine.”
“Thank you, dear,” she said, smiling, giving him a kiss on his lips. She wrapped herself in her shawl, and he led her to their car, opening the door for her and helped her in.
They saw Anna Pavlova perform Swan Lake, one of the most marvellous experiences either of them had ever had. When the performance was finished, they joined the rest of the audience in a standing ovation. After the performance, James led her backstage, where he had arranged for Jean to meet Anna Pavlova.
“I am a great admirer of yours, Madame Pavlova,” Jean said. Anna extended her hand for Jean to shake.
“Thank you,” Anna Pavlova replied graciously.
After meeting Madame Pavlova, Jean and James drove home. She was so thrilled that she had finally met the great Anna Pavlova, and she was so grateful to James for making that possible. As soon as they made it in to the house, up to their bedroom, Jean began to undress, James following her lead. He shed his clothes first, and helped her shrug out of her dress as she removed her jewellery.
Once they were both completely nude, he pulled her towards him, holding her to him.
“I love you, Jean,” James said. “Happy birthday.”
“And it has been the best one I have ever had,” she said, kissing him. “Even better than last year’s – and I did not think that it could be possible to have a better birthday than last year, but this has been the best birthday ever!” she exclaimed, once more showering his face with kisses. He laughed and pulled her towards the bed; she pushed him down and straddled him.
“Oh, Jean, I want you,” he said, looking up at her, placing his hands on her hips.
“Really?” she asked him coyly.
“Yes, darling, yes; with all my heart,” he replied.
She smiled down at him, placing one hand on his chest and used the other to guide him into her. She began to rise and fall on top of him, and he gripped her hips harder, pulling her down onto him.
“Darling!” she cried out as he pulled her down on him one more time.
“Jean!” he moaned as he began to come.
She leaned her head against his chest, smiling as he began to play with a lock of her hair, twining the golden lock around his finger. Her hair had grown down to her shoulders since they had been married, and he loved to feel her silky locks against his skin, loved to brush her hair for her, loved to wrap her hair around his finger. He loved the bright golden colour of her hair, loved how it curled around her shoulders, loved how it lit up in the sun, loved how it accented her skin, her eyes, her smile.
She stroked his chest, feeling the firm muscle beneath his skin. She loved him so much, loved the way he loved her, protected her, comforted her, cared for her. He was so marvellous to her, so wonderful, so perfect for her. She was still so in love with him, even after a year – she knew she would be in love with him for the rest of her life. He was her soul mate, and she was so happy that he had come into her life – her life was incomplete without him. He had given her so much – a life outside of her girls, love, and most importantly, a daughter, and a family.
They were so lucky to have found each other – so lucky – and they would love each other for the rest of their lives.
