Heyy, just wondering how 936 of us (or is it more) fell in love with the same Harry Potter pairing ... So how did you guys start sailing the MMAD ship? My own story is a bit wierd, I'll post it later, got a dentist appointment (groans)...

I discovered loads of ADMM fics on ff.net, which introduced me to the ship, then i got bored and returned to SSMM or RLMM or whatever i was reading at the time. Then I found out JKR tried to sink our ship (this was the first time) and because I was stubborn I became a shipper again. Then I googled ADMM and found this site! And then I persuaded most of my friends it was true. Even though most of then were already kind of subconciously beliveing MM and AD had something going on. It just took me to point it out

Hi, I'm back from the EVIL dentist and thankfully, he didn't find any of my teeth to extract for his rotten teeth collection ... ;D Anyway, basically I'm a new Harry Potter fan ... I only read the first book last August, after DH was released, OUT OF SHEER BOREDOM and well, some curiousity. I was staying at my friend's place and she had PS, GoF and HBP, and I devoured all three of them in one sleepless day. Before that I was ... ah, a Harry Potter 'hater' (don't stone me, I said was) but admittedly had seen all the movies because my brother insisted. (I even saw CoS in the theatre, I think I was 9 then, I was screaming and crying when Harry got bitten, lol). Anyway, I finished all the seven and suddenly, I got a dozen questions exploding in my head, why, when, how, who ... then, I discovered ff.net. Got and id and began searching for fics on my favourite characters. Um, Dumbledore and McGongall were my favourite characters from the start, so I put them in character 1 and character 2 slots -and POOF, all of a sudden I have gazillion MMAD fics thrown on my face ... I cannot describe how I felt then, swear, I was completly grossed out, disgusted, freaked, yada, yada, yada ... somehow I never imagined them to be more than very, very, very good friends. I wanted to flame all the authors and say, 'What the heck, he taught her, she is 80 yrs younger than him, HOW CAN YOU WRITE ROMANCE BETWEEN THEM....' But good for me, I held my tongue. Then, as I read more and more, (well, couldn't help it, I have a habit of finding out more about things I hate) I suddenly realised that the pairing was just so ... there, very inevitable and very ... well, cute. And then, I became and MMAD shipper. Well, hope no one has fallen asleep on the keyboard yet. Cheers!

I thought they were together from the first scene of the first book and was never discouraged afterwords. Plus, she's my favorite character.

Well ... this is also under my introductions post but I read a lemony fic about three years ago and wrote a few one-shots on them. Then I began another after HBP came out (or maybe before and I was just knew how AD died..). Then I began writing other stuff ... and then about two months ago I found one of my old stories on HPFF and this site. So now I'm back aboard the ship!

You know, I've tried to pinpoint when exactly it was that I fell in love with MMAD, but I can't seem to remember. Professor McGongall was my favourite character from the start, so naturally I would focus more on her scenes and read between the lines. I think thats when I noticed all of the little hints of MMAD in the books and I thought the idea of them together would be so sweet! Of course, when I tried to talk about it with my friends I immediately got "eww!" and "No way!" So I was disheartened. That is until a friend mentioned fanfiction in passing and I discovered I wasn't the only MMAD freak out there! Needless to say I was overjoyed and have been shipping ever since!

Hehe, lol, McG has always been my favourite character too, I used to read her scenes over and over again! I haven't told anyone about shipping yet, but I'm sure the reaction wont be gr8! Cheers!

I've been in love with MMAD since the beginning. I saw the first three Harry Potter movies before I even considered reading the books. I wasn't very interested in them. But when I did watch the movies, I always thought Dumbledore and McGonagall looked cute together.
My friend has been really obsessed with Harry Potter since it was available in braille (she's blind) and she was always talking about it. Since there was such a big deal about it, I tried them and fell in love with the series.
I was actually a little surprised when I heard that MMAD wasn't a canon couple and even more shocked when my fellow HP friends thought the couple was gross. I still don't really understand why it's so disgusting. Whatever. I suppose everyone is too caught up in their own HP world where their favorite ship is the best to think about other possible ships.

Lol, Gifted, I agree with greyeyedgirl, people are really narrowminded ... yeah, sometimes it surprises me as well that it isn't canon, cause it is like so obvious in the books. Cheers!

yeah, sometimes it surprises me as well that it isn't canon, cause it is like so obvious in the books. Cheers! I totally agree! JKR puts all of these hints in and then, not only makes Dumbledore gay and killing any hope of them being a couple, says that Minerva wasn't even in love with him at all! It really makes no sense, and is quite depressing...

But that wasn't the REAL J.K.R! That was the fake android version, that she had now destroyed for making stupid comments, e.g "dumbledore is gay" (excuse my conspiracy theories I'm in a bad mood because my PE teacher is making me go to the HKSSF swimming gala, and swimming is NOT my best sport)

The poor, poor, depressed MMAD shippers ! Lol, no problem, sparrabether, lol about the android, actually this isn't the wildest theory I've read ... there was one where, Dumbledore tells Harry that Rita Skeeter probably slipped her horrible quill to JKR, which is why the last books were so against her ships .... ;D Actaully, your theories make more sense that Jo does ... Oh, best of luck, if you are going for swimming ... I happen to love it, but I wouldn't have gone if someone tried to force me and I didn't like it ... Cheers!

Ah, my compass predicts that MMAD will have the most "hints" in the books. I was sceptical at first, but when I stumbled upon this nice site (and theories), it melted away! Been a shipper since third year high school, also the time I argued with my classmates about the viability of this excellent pairing. (Although I got turned off by Dumbledore's gayness, he and Minerva could be perfect for each other, if it wasn't for his sexual orientation.) ;D

Yipee! My best friend thinks MMAD is cute! I can't belive she actually thinks that!?!? I didn't tell her because the first time I told her about MMAD, when I hated the pair she agreed it was stupid.
Now we both love it. Yay!

I love it when things like that happen! One of my good friends is in the school play with me and plays my husband (it's rather funny) and he is gay, so I asked him if he ever got that vibe from Dumbledore and he said no, he always thought he fancied McGonagall! I practically had a spaz attack!

Okay, I probably win on the weirdest way of becoming an ADMM shipper.
*****Slight spoiler for the last book (just in case no one's read it)*******
When Hagrid is carrying the supposedly dead Harry out of the forbidden forest and Minerva yells 'No'.
********End slight spoiler***********
I don't know how, but I suddenly thought of ADMM and looked it up on the internet, saw loads of people shipped it, and have been an avid fan since...I mean that must be the weirdest way to start shipping ever! lol

I'm just glad I'm not alone anymore. I convinced my cousin and one of my friends without really trying. And my other cousin already loved the couple. It was such a coincidence!

My mum read me the books when I was seven, and even from that early age I KNEW that they were a couple. I even drew a picture of them with little baby Harry. I do not lie, friends. They're so obviously together that a seven year old could see it. ;D

I've found os many of my favorite ships though other ships. I was looking for Grams/The Necormancer fics on ff.net((was and still am a HUGE Charmed Fan I love Grams)) and I found a Charmed/HP crossover and it had ADMM in it. But really I was a subconcious ADMM shipper before that. I was like 8 when I read the first book and thought Min and Alby were married for the first few chapters. They were just SO cute. It's weird though how all my ships can connect even Sam/Donna from Mamma Mia... and Stephen/Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada lol don't ask me how those connect to HP but they do lol

I became a MMAD shipper after becoming obsessed with Minerva McGonagall. I have two confessions to make...don't hate me...I have only read one of the Harry Potter books...and have not seen any of the movies. However, I adore Minerva and therefore began reading fanfiction on her at fanfiction.net. I soon discovered that she was a grossly overlooked character and that she and Albus were made for each other. How you might ask... Severus was too young...Filius was too short...Lockhart was too full of himself and Albus was so very nice...I really thought I came up with the pairing on my own...since I didn't know about the character filters (I had to sift through all the HG/HP, SS/HG and other pairings) ...anyway that is how I became a MMAD shipper. I started writing MMAD when I ran out of stories to read (sounds hard to believe I know) and due to this confession am sure that no one will ever read my ignorant stories again...oh well!

I was 12 when I first ‘tried’ to read HP, my friend made me do this saying “it’s brilliant, fantastic etc.” But I didn’t like it. I thought it was quite boring and nonsense. Than about half year later the first HP movie came out and I got free tickets for the premier so I had to go (didn’t I? ). And I loved it. I fell into HP world immediately reading one book after the other impatiently waiting for the next part. The thought of MMAD occurred when I was reading the second book (I’m just very romantic person ), but as I haven’t spoken good English yet I couldn’t do much about it. Few years later I found ff.net and after looking on someone’s profile I found our board!! I joined and…here I am!!

I became a Harry Potter fan through my little brother. My mother would read a chapter aloud to him each night, and slowly I started to listen too. Then I went back and read everything to fill in the gaps and was hooked. Several years later, a friend introduced me to mugglenet.com where I curiously clicked on a little link labled 'fanfiction'. I quickly discovered that I was bored by the constant shipping of the Trio and other students, so I began to look for stories about the adults, starting with my favorite adult HP character, Minerva McGonagall. Then I read two stories- "Traditional Socks" and "The Professors' New Clothes" by Angharad. And my fandom of Harry Potter was never the same...

You guys, I don't even know. I was like, eight years old, an a friend an I were sitting at the table in the lunchroom pairing everyone from Harry Potter up into nice, heteronormative packages, and it just...
Made sense or something? I don't know. I o remember that we gave it a 98% on the perfectness scale, whatever that means.
I was a weird child, I suppose.
