He brushed his soft, wrinkled hand against hers. Minerva McGonagall had never gotten butterflies, and never would, silly things. But if she had gotten butterflies, she would have gotten them right then.
He called her up to his office for a quick meeting about disciplinary actions. His eyes twinkled over to her. Minerva McGonagall never blushed, for it was a pointless thing to do. But if she ever did blush, she would have blushed right then.
He complemented her eyes. He told her they were beautiful. Minerva McGonagall never got carried away with things, it brought your hopes up too far. If she had gotten carried away with things, she would have done it right then.
He pulled her aside to speak to her on the anniversary of Gridelwald's defeat. He told her that he was hopelessly in love, and that the person could never know. Minerva McGonagall never got the jitters, because it was annoying to have your arms shaking and your legs bouncing. But if she ever did get the jitters, it would have been then.
He looked at her, the bright blue intelligent eyes that she knew so well bore into hers. Minerva McGonagall would never fall in love, she didn't have the time or the emotional energy. But if she had ever fallen in love, it would have been right then.
He told her that he was in love with Gridelwald. He told her that he would never stop hurting for what he did to Gridelwald. He told her everything. And if Minerva McGonagall's heart would have ever broken, it would have been then.
