I love it how she can look stern yet vulnerable at the same time!
I can only do the "kind but strict" look as the year nine's call it and they're only two years younger than I am! MENTAL!

Same! Maggie's great with looks and emotions, and that is what makes her a wonderful actress.

Today's pic is too large to post directly: i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk58/MinervasEule/Maggie/DowntonAbbey7.jpgFellowes: 'I write for Maggie Smith'Digital Spy, Tuesday, August 24 2010, by Catriona Wightman Julian Fellowes has revealed that he writes roles specifically for Maggie Smith. Smith is starring in Fellowes' latest drama Downton Abbey, which will air on ITV next month. Speaking to the Radio Times, Fellowes explained: "Maggie plays the Dowager Countess of Grantham, the indomitable Violet, who sees it as her duty to protect her family from their own misjudgments." Fellowes, who previously worked with Smith on Gosford Park, explained that he loves the way Smith portrays characters. "By this stage, I would be lying if I were not to admit that I write for Maggie," he said. "I cannot think of another actress who can play every inch of a character's iron desire for control without ever making them unsympathetic." He added: "She has that simple gift of making us want her to return to the screen the moment she leaves it."

I agree, with you Rosemary! ~ "By this stage, I would be lying if I were not to admit that I write for Maggie," he said. "I cannot think of another actress who can play every inch of a character's iron desire for control without ever making them unsympathetic."
He added: "She has that simple gift of making us want her to return to the screen the moment she leaves it." ~ Julian Fellowes is totally correct! The minute she leaves the stage, no make that a second, I want her back! And I mean immediately, but I want her to be well and happy so she needs to get a break. She deserves one to, she lived through a lot and I want her to keep living, happily too!
