A/N: I needed fluff after a horrific nightmare which depicted our two favorite people in love with other people.
Minerva McGonagall rapped three times against the Headmaster’s door, before it swung open to admit her.
“Well Albus Ms. Granger has returned her time turner. I daresay she was excessively glad to be rid of it if the rate at which she shoved it in my hand was any indication,” Minerva commented walking across Albus’ office stopping to lean against his desk.
For Albus’ part he had moved from behind his desk to greet her. “You look tired, Minerva,” Albus observed his Deputy with concern.
“No more so than anyone else. Ms Granger looked particularly exhausted. Perhaps it was not wise to give her the time turner.”
“It saved two innocent lives, and I believe she learned a valuable lesson.” Albus resisted the urge to direct Minerva’s head to his shoulder, and then lift one hand to massage it. Over the past three years Albus had begun to develop feelings for his Deputy that went well beyond the borders of friendship.
Approximately half way through the newly ended school term Albus had taken to flirting with Minerva more, increasing their time together, and the amount of times he touched her. All seemed welcomed by Minerva, and Albus had every intention of making the most out of their summer. Looking over at Minerva he found she had her eyes closed, but as he reached for the time turner she spoke.
“Will next year be better?” she asked softly seeking reassurance from the only person she could receive it.
Albus’ hand was stilled in mid-air but as he answered he gently took the time turner from Minerva’s hand: “One cannot say, my dear.”
“You were not the beacon the optimism I was searching for.” Carefully Albus lifted the turner from its wooden case, and moved closer to Minerva in order to slip the chain around her neck.
“Does that mean you will leave me to continue your search?”
Minerva opened her eyes to find Albus close, very close. Her breath hitched in her throat and every fantasy Minerva had about those lips on hers came back in full clarity, making her blush. “No,” she breathed out in answer to his question.
“Good,” Albus replied turning the gadget to his desired time and closing the gap between his lips and hers.
The kiss was entirely too short and faint for Minerva, so consequently she felt disappointed when Albus pulled away. However the speed at which her environs moved stirred her mind to other things.
“Albus we each have work to do,” Minerva chided sternly.
“And it can wait; besides we will arrive back at the same moment we left. I made a few discoveries this morning I wish you to see, and the sunrise was beautiful. Let’s go or we’ll miss it.” Albus grabbed Minerva’s hand, and set off but didn’t get far before he was jerked backward.
“You know perhaps this is an idea,” Minerva said indicating the chain,” then I could find you whenever I needed you.”
“And just how often do you need me?” Albus asked removing the chain from his neck.
“A lady never divulges such information, especially when only the briefest of embraces has been shared.”
Smiling at Albus Minerva moved toward his office door, “Where were you at this time, so as you may not see yourself?”
“By the lake.” Quickly they made their way through the darkened castle, and Albus took hold of Minerva’s hand. The sky was already lighter, and Albus hurried Minerva along. Minerva almost tripped when Albus started to run, and had to take very long strides to keep up. Finally he stopped, and out of breath Minerva leaned over to catch it.
Albus moved behind Minerva and slowly drew up against his chest, his arms wrapping around her waist. Still breathing heavily Minerva barely noticed when Albus muttered the spell to release her long tresses of their confines.
Brilliant shades of red and orange danced across the sky, overtaking the night in splendid vibrancy as the sun peeked over the horizon, awakening this side of the world. Minerva moved her hands to rest on top of Albus’ and sighed with contentment. “It’s beautiful.”
“I thought of you this morning when I witnessed it for the first time, but we’d best move along. I’ll be coming to this spot soon.
“Must we run?” Minerva inquired stepping from his grasp.
“It would be best. Lest I see myself and go mad.”
“I thought we determined sometime ago that you already had,” Minerva teased.
“Had we? Oh yes, hmm…well it would only be worse then I would have to be locked away.”
“Whatever would we do?”
Running again Albus’ sentence was broken up as his breathing labored. “Yes the world…the world would…collapse.”
“Forget the world I was more concerned about what I would do.”
Turning Albus gave Minerva a smiled before grabbing her hand, and pulling her toward the opposite end of the lake. Not long after, they arrived at a small clearing, and Minerva immediately sat down on the only stump in sight.
“I feel like a student running from a professor. So what is out here?”
Albus did not immediately answer, but was looking on the edges of the clearing. Spotting what he desired he beckoned Minerva to him.
“Al-“ but his name died on her lips when she eyed the spot his finger indicated. “What are they,” she whispered crouching lower to the ground.
“I’m not sure.” Four tiny animals were circled up together, their white fur making it difficult to distinguish one from the other.
“Levitate one so we can get a better look,” Minerva suggested excited over the discovery. Doing as told Albus had one small creature suspended in one fluid motion.
“It almost looks feline, but here is something about its face that contradicts that,” Albus mused aloud for Minerva’s benefit.
“Albus look at the bump between its eyes, above the nose; do all of them have it?” It was deduced in fact that each did upon inspection.
Before they could discuss it further the sound of someone approaching made Minerva jump, “When did you come by here?”
“Apparently now.” Minerva grabbed Albus’ hand, and took off for the woods. “What about the creatures?”
“I’ll send Hagrid when we return to my office,” Albus replied.
Minerva quickly looked back, and spun around to pin Albus behind a tree.
“So aggressive…”
Minerva glared and covered Albus’ hand with her mouth only to have tiny kisses placed against her palm. Peaking out again Minerva didn’t discern the other Albus amongst their patch of trees so she stole her hand away, and moved back. Albus had other ideas, and tightened his grip on Minerva’s waist bringing her back to him.
Slowly he lowered his head and engaged the Scottish lady in a much more intense show of affection, so as to vanquish any notion of disappointment from her mind. Minerva returned the kiss with vigor, and gladly accepted his probing tongue. It was several moments before they broke apart, and reluctantly Albus led them away.
“How long till we must return,” Minerva inquired running her hands through her hair to make sure Albus had not caused tangles.
“Only an hour before we need to be back in my office, but I imagine we’re behind me now so we’ll have to be careful on our last stop.”
“Which is…”
Albus’ only reply was a kiss to her hand. A quarter of an hour later Albus crept behind some tress, and motioned Minerva to join him. There she watched as the other Albus stood on the side of a small brook. He seemed deep in thought, and Minerva made a mental note to ask Albus what he was concerned about.
Minerva vaguely wondered how long Albus was going to remain there, but at that exact moment the other Albus turned around and gave her a smile. Then with the snap of his fingers he was gone.
“How, did that, what, how could that happen?” Minerva finally sputtered out turning to face Albus.
“Well they do say I’m the greatest wizard of the age. I was developing this scheme to lure you into the woods, snog you senseless and such while I was at the brook.”
“You mean you had every moment planned?” Still incredulous Minerva let herself be pulled into Albus’ waiting arms.
“Indeed. I knew the time you were arriving, so it was easy. We don’t have much longer till we return,” Albus muttered before kissing Minerva again.
The couple barely made it back in time, but succeed they did. “Well Headmaster I have a few items to attend to. Can I expect you for dinner in my quarters?”
“Madam you could not keep me away.
