The lake shimmered against the sunlight that sunny afternoon. The clouds above looked down upon them, pure white and fluffy. There was no breeze that day, and as Albus leaned back further into the old wooden swing hanging from the willow tree beside the lake, he decided that he was enjoying this hot summer day. The shade cast over him cooled him a little, and he smiled at the ripples in the water, or rather the person who was making them.
Her shoulder-length, black hair was in curls, bouncing as she ran into the water unsteadily, giggling. She jumped and, with a splash, she landed into the water. Albus’ smile widened, as she resurfaced, and shook the lake water from her curls. She smiled brightly at him, and waved, in which he returned fondly. She half turned, as if about to run further into the water, her flowered pattern bathing suit drying in the hot sun’s rays. She must have thought better of it, because she turned to face Albus again, and started towards him, again at an unsteady run.
Her small feet were plastered with sand when they hit the green grass. Her wet curls hung almost limply, having lost their bouncy volume with the water, on her shoulders, some of the curls plastered to her neck and cheeks. She finally reached him, and he smiled at her, when she gave him a cheeky grin. She flung herself on his lap, only dampening his robes with her hair and swimsuit. She hugged him tightly, as he hugged her back. She pulled away, her emerald eyes sparkling, as she said brightly,
“Daddy, I love you.”
