I was wondering if anyone could help me come up with some names for this novel I am writting. I can't come up with any... so Help Please?
They need to be very, well odd names to say the least. Older ones are good aslo.
Thanks, Jenn

Hmmm...you may not like these, but here they are. Olive, Leola, Ava, Grey, Lucretia. Those are all names of someone in my family or someone I know (a newborn named Ava Greyson, isn't that sweet?) and they're all girl names. They may not be odd enough but it's all I could come up with.

I know a girl called Winsome, and one called Shylabeth. Madeline is an old name. That's all I can come up with right now, I'm terrible with names.

Some old names in my family are: Garnet, Lessie, Jessie, Thelma, Maude, Beulah, and Thula. Clara, Margaret, Miriam, Hephzibah, Helen, Bess, Eleanor, Irene, Eugenie, Ada, Ida, Ima, Jane, Kitty, Portia, and Christine could be good too. I had a teacher once, whose name was Hattie Kathryn.
Don't know if you need any guys names or not, but there's always: Lloyd, Milton, Stanley, Earl, Edmund, Bert, Ebenezer, Zachariah, Jedediah, Eugene, Triston, Oliver, Gulliver, and Jacob. Adam (Eve, too) is about as old as you can get in a name. I had a little boy in my class once years ago whose first name was Tolliver; fortunately he went by his middle name.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
Kay

Hi Jenn! I hope some these help you. I am quite a name nerd. These are names from my family, most are French, Irish or Polish
Men's names: Adlore, Harold, Cyran, Aloysius, Charles, Harold, Dominic, Isaac, Willard, Arthur, Conrad, Theodore, Jerome, Jennings, Arnold, Elnio, Raymond, Blaise, Elmer, Terrence, Lawrence, Franklin, Gunther, Kent, Jean-Baptiste, Pierre, Zacharie, Claude, Guillaume, Jacque
Women's names: Marie, Philomena, Marguerite, Gladys, Cora, Josephine, Klara, Eleanor, Amelia, Emilia, Beatrice, Evelyn, Judith, June, Starlene, Elaine, Edith, Theresa, Jacqueline, Ardell, Victoria, Lois, Mae, Avis, Mabel, Praxzide, Eva, Octavia, Delia, Agnes, Madeleine, Elumina, Genevieve, Xainte, Francoise, Guillemette, Antoinette, Florence, Leona, Pearl, Gertrude, Myrna, Virginia, Lucille, Laticia
I hope these help somewhat. You can also google names ar something like that and it should bring up name search engines. Some even allow you to search for odd names.
Oh JKMcGonagall, all the names you listed were ones I immediately thought of, but it would a bit redundant to type them out again, now wouldn't it?
<Madeline is an old name.> That's my middle name. I never liked it because I was always called Maddie, but Madeleine is very sophisticated.

I think I always liked the names Christine or Susan Elizabeth for a girl and I liked the name Joshua David for a boy.

Oh, I love looking up names and their meaning! I can think of these; Boy: Elijah, Behiah (Ben-eye-a), Immanuel, Demetrius, Lysander, Alistar Girl: Zara, Vala, Melia, Emilia, Ophelia, Lahoma, Andora, Isadora, Tallalah, Blythe They're pretty out there but, when I started writing novels I bought a baby name book at barnes and Nobles and said it was a gift for my aunt so I didn't get weird looks. Hope this helps some. *Kristina

Why not make a play on some older names or switch around a few letters of the names. I like names from mythology, for example... Athena --> Anthea

Ack, I need help thinking of names for my story. It's not a fanfiction, but an assignment for my class. We had to write a sci-fi story and I need names suitable for a cow (a cow that's been remade with human DNA and now looks almost completely human with the exception of cow ears and how his joints look). I've thought of the name Kye being cow in Scottish. I just need a name, but nothing that you would really name a person.
