The Case of the Missing Ring
A/N: All Ginger Newts' fault! Her plot bunny bit me! Albus' last line was stolen from Sensiblyquirky.
Albus entered Minerva's rooms one day to find them in complete disarray, looking ransacked. As he was puzzling the cause, she appeared, looking completely disheveled: her bun was completely undone, her robes wrinkled, and her square spectacles askew on the bridge of her nose. "Minerva, what happened?"
"Oh, Albus, I lost my wedding ring!" she exclaimed, looking at him with a hopeless expression on her face.
Albus frowned, a little puzzled. "How can you be sure, my dear, it's invisible?"
"I can't feel it on my finger." She took his hand and wrapped it around her left hand.
She was right, he couldn't feel the reassuring presence of her invisible wedding ring. "When did you first notice it wasn't there?"
"This afternoon," she explained, beginning to calm down as he moved behind her and began to knead her shoulders with his strong hands. "I was thinking of you and naturally moved to touch my ring, because I always feel closer to you when I do that."
He moved her hair over one shoulder and kissed the nape of her now-exposed neck. She shivered. "And I feel closer to you whenever I touch my wedding ring."
"Exactly." She nodded, and then moaned when his tongue flickered against the skin of her neck. "Anyway, I rushed back here right after my last class of day and began looking for it."
Now that he'd calmed her down, Albus murmured, "Accio Minerva's wedding and engagement rings." A tinkling sound caught his ear and he turned in time to catch two invisible projecticles coming at him from the bathroom. "Here you are, my dear."
Taking her hand, he slid the rings on her finger. A brilliant smile lit Minerva's face. "Oh, Albus! How did you find them?"
"A simple Summoning spell, my love," he told her with a twinkle in his eye.
She groaned and covered her face with her hands. "Why didn't I think of that?" She dropped her hands and looked up at him. "Where did they come from?"
"The bathroom, I believe." He watched, bemused, as she covered her face once again.
Dropping her hands, again, she looked decidedly sheepish. "I must have forgotten to take the invisibility spell off them when I took my bath last night." She smiled and reached up to stroke his cheek and beard. "Thank you, Albus."
"Thanks aren't necessary, my dear," he answered with a warm smile. "Although I'm willing to accept any kisses you're willing to give out."
Smiling, Minerva's lips met his in a warm kiss that quickly deepened into something more. Scooping her into his arms, Albus carried her off to the bedroom.
