A/N: This comes from an IM session with Jestana...dunno if this is exactly humor but it isn't anything else on this board (yet) so I will put it here. Oh, yes. The mention of "Stew" is to Stewart Pomfrey, an OC (Poppy's big brother) belonging to Jestana and apparently in love with Rolanda Hooch at one time. In one of her stories Stewart has been missing in action since he went on a mission. Here, he is still missing, and Rolanda is involved with Snape now.
Minerva McGonagall sat at her desk, combing through her long ebony hair. She'd fallen asleep there last night, and had only just remembered...today was her birthday. She wondered if Albus knew.
After twisting her hair into its usual bun, she set off for her quarters and changed into clean robes. When she opened the door to leave, it was blocked by something, and she heard a muffled curse and a yelp from the other side...
"Damn it! She's leaving already!" someone whispered. "This was your idea, it's your fault you got in the way of the door!" came a second voice. "Shut it, you two, she'll hear us!" A third voice sounded disapproving.
Minerva smiled, amused. She stepped back from the door, and Rolanda Hooch, Poppy Pomfrey, and Sylvia Sprout threw open the door. "SURPRISE, MIN! Happy Birthday!" "Well, I'm glad you three remembered," was Minerva's only comment, but she smiled nonetheless. The person who she had really wanted to remember was conspicuously absent, however.
"Well, someone is missing from this party, Ro," said Poppy, looking thoughtful. "Who? Sev-kins? Or Stew?" Rolanda said, hitting a nerve with Poppy. "Yes, Stew is missing. Severus does not need to be here! But I meant someone else..." "Alastor? Filius?" Poppy and Sylvia turned red. "NO!"
At that moment, Professor Sinistra walked in, levitating a very large box in front of her. "Well, this is interesting...this seems to be Min's gift from the Headmaster." She shrugged. "I have no idea what it is, so don't ask me."
Ro smirked. She had thought of this gift ages ago, and Professor Dumbledore had agreed. Min ought to love this...
Minerva looked sideways at the flying instructor before beginning to unwrap the red-and-gold paper, noticing that Ro had an eager look on her face. Suddenly she wasn't sure she wanted to open it. "Ro, I'd rather have Albus here when I open his present!" She groaned when Ro said, "Afraid he can't be here to see it...he was unavoidably detained..." Ro winked.
Minerva cautiously lifted off the top of the box. Instantly, the box disappeared, leaving Albus Dumbledore standing there. He held out a birthday cake. "I baked it myself, Minerva."
Albus lit the candles with his wand. "Make a wish, my dear." "What?" "It's a Muggle custom. If you make a wish and blow out all the candles at once, it will come true...but only if you don't tell anyone what it is."
So Minerva took a deep breath, making a wish that Albus really did love her as much as she loved him. She blew out the candles, and not one stayed lit. "Yay, Min! You did it!" cheered Rolanda.
Minerva sliced up the cake, and Albus told her to take the first bite, or no one else could have any. "Another Muggle custom, Albus?" she queried. He nodded, smiling. So she took a bite, and wasn't surprised at all when she found that it tasted like sherbet lemons under all the chocolate frosting.
