I was reading 'Diary of Albus Dumbledore' and I had a little plot idea jump up and bash me upside the head! There will be a couple of Albus dairy entries, too.

Mon. Sept 14 5:00, AM- Rooms
Have just woken up. Feel like staying in bed, room is rather blurry. Bah. I have classes to teach!! All right, time to dress and go down to breakfast. Blah.

Mon. Sept 14 7:00, AM- Great Hall
Do not feel well at all. Room is spinning and stomach is upset. Must go on. Albus is v. v. cheerful today. Is somewhat heartening. His smile always makes me feel happy and warm inside. I don't think it will help me with eating, however. Curses, Albus is loading up plate for me...he must think I have an eating disorder or something. Foolish man. Oh, dear...I really don't feel well at al-

Tues. Sept 15, 12:00 Noon- Hospital Wing
I have gotten the flu. From what Poppy told me, I fainted right there at the breakfast table. She also told me that Albus personally carried me here and refused to leave until he was sure I was all right. I love him...I truly, truly do. If ever there was a White Knight, Albus would fill the position, no questions asked. Ooh. Poppy says that I have a visitor!!

Tues. Sept 15, 1:30 PM- Hospital Wing
Oh. I REALLY don't think that could have gone worse.
Albus was my visitor. Not that I mind or anything. He was so sweet, he brought me some Ginger Newts as a Get Well gift. I am getting off track. Well everything went along fine for a while, but then I felt ill again. There was no basin near by. But Albus took it all in stride and even held my hair back until I finished vomiting all over his robes. He wasn't disgusted, but I was so embarrassed. He must think of me as a weak stomached ninny. I wish I could hide in a dark place for the rest of my life.

Tues. Sept 15, 1:55 PM- My Office
Am v. worried about Minerva. Would you believe that the poor thing fainted at the breakfast table yesterday?? It scared the living daylights out of me, I thought she was having a heart attack! Thankfully, that was not the case. After I had carried Minerva to the Hospital Wing, Madam Pomphrey told me that Minerva had a mild case of the flu. Am STILL concerned for Minerva's health. What if Poppy's WRONG??! What if Minerva develops an incurable illness?! Never mind, I'm being foolish. Minerva shall be fine, given that she's in Poppy's care. Although I DO have reason to worry. When I visited her today, she got sick right in front of me. I broke my heart to see her so uncomfortable. Perhaps I should pull out my old Herbal Cures book and reread it just to be on the safe side....
No, I really must go. I'm going to teach Minerva's classes for her, I don't like the substitute from yesterday...I'm not sure why, but I did not like seeing another woman up front trying to take Minerva's place, no matter how temporarily.

Fri. Sept. 18, 12:00 AM- My Office
Oh, Merlin. Minerva's condition has worsened! It turns out that the'little bout of flu' was actually the first stage of DRAGON POX!!! Poppy won't let me in to see her and is advising sending an owl to St. Mungo's requesting vaccinations for the students. I can't sleep. I can't work. I can't even enjoy Lemon Drops. Minerva could die from this. Aberforth had it in out third year and Mother and Father had had a casket made for him when they heard what he had gotten. Of course, that had happened over 100 years ago and medicine NOW is better. Really, I have NO reason to worry. No, NONE at all. I should go out and stop my needless apprehension. Mmmhmmm. Yes indeed, no reason to worry. No reason to worry at all...EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THE WOMAN I LOVE COULD QUITE POSSIBLY FACE HER UNTIMELY DEMISE BEFORE I PLUCK UP THE COURAGE TO INVITE HER TO DINNER!!
I MUST get in to see her!! Exuse me while I go off to plot on breaking into the Hospital Wing...

Fri. Sept. 18, 3:30 AM- Inside storage cubboard in the Hospital Wing.
I have successfully infiltrated the Hospital Wing. Who knew Poppy had set up wards. And had taught the doors to remember my face and voice. Really, she's probably going to get attack crups next. Thank goodness she didn't think of me using the Tunneling Charm to dig my way in here! Although there ARE going to be a lot of akward questions about the large hole in the hallway...no matter. Time to check on Minerva.

Fri. Sept 18, 3:35 AM- Still in cubboard.

Fri Sept. 18, 3:40 AM- By Minerva's side.
I've FINALLY gotten out of the cubboard and am where I belong: with Minerva. I am holding her hand as I write, and it's v., v. cold, despite her high fever. Oh, Minerva! I wish I could help you! She's so pale, and she sweating. Did I neglect to mention that her skin has turned red, like a dragon burn? I suppose this is how the illness got it's name...still doesn't make me worry less. But even deathly ill, she's still beautiful. This is one of the few times I've seen her with her hair down, and I've forgotten how much I like it like that. Oh, she's opening her eyes!! I'll write more later!!
- Albus.

Albus closed his journal and leaned closer to Minerva. Minerva woozily stared at him, her eyes unfocused.
"Albus? Is that you??" she asked weakly. Albus squeezed her hand.
"Yes, I'm here. How are you??"
Minerva gave a half smile.
"Not so well. I've got Dragon Pox and-" she froze, and her green eyes widened as she sat up.
the witch snatched up her covers and covered her mouth and nose.
"Leave now!! I don't want you getting sick because of me!!" she said. Albus tightened his hold on her hand.
"But Minerva, I-"
Minerva pulled her hand from his and leaned away from him.
"No! Get out NOW before I summon Poppy to come and THROW you out!!" she barked, some of her old zeal coming back. Albus looked at his friend with pleading eyes, then sighed.
"Alright, I'll go. But only becuse you insist. Rest assured, I'll be here the MOMENT Poppy lets in visitors!" he declared. Minerva smiled from behind her blanket.
"I look forward to it, Professer Dumbledore." She said, slowly leaning back into her pillows.
"I shall be back soon, my dear." Albus said, dropping a kiss onto her hand before marching back into the closet he came from. Minerva smiled fondly after him, falling asleep before realizing that he'd said one more thing before leaving:
"Get well soon, my love."

Fri. Sept. 18, 4:09 AM- My Bedroom.
Well, I got back safe and sound, and I have only one thing to say. I think Minerva loves me.
No, she couldn't. She would want someone more serious, someone younger. And yet... and yet an old fool's hope lives on. But I can't help remembering the look she gave me while telling me to get out...I think I just might have a chance. Will look into this later. Right now, I must sleep. good night.

Minerva could die. She could die from this. Please, dear God, don't let that be true. Without Minerva, I am nothing. I'd have no reason to live if she were gone. Everything means three times as much when she's around. She has the power to make me happy or unhappy. she is what keeps me...me. Without Minerva McGonagall, there would be no Albus Dumbledore.
I want to tell her that I love her, that my happiest times are made when I'm by her side, but I am afraid that my Gryffindor courage desertes me. I want to be with her for the rest of my life because...there is no life without Minerva.

Well, I'm back on my feet and Poppy says I'll make a full recovery. She also tells me that Albus has been demanding to be let in every day. Poppy figured out how to prevent Albus from tunneling in; attack crups. He tried to sneak in last night and Poppy set them loose on him. It was v. funny. I've been getting visitors on and off all day. Hermione Granger even managed to drag Ronald Weasley and Harry Potter in here to say hello. Such a sweet girl...
Albus has been in here several times. 16, if my memory serves correctly. Most of the time he just talks with me and tries to make me laugh, and he always seems so happy when I do.
Again and again, I wonder if he loves me, and again and again I shoot my own hopes down. It
is sad, really. Here I am, nearing my 60's, and I have illusions that a wonderful man like Albus would fall for a spinster such as myself. He's not exactly a spring chicken himself, but really; women are still attracted to him because of his defeat over Grindelwald. Oh, well. It's hopeless to dream, I'm being a fool. Albus will forever think of me as his friend, or worse; his little sister. He's said time and again that I'm the intelligent younger sibling he never had.
With that happy note sounded, I bid you good night.

YES!! Minerva is well again!!! Poppy started admitting visitors a few days ago. Aberforth says that now is the time to tell her about my feelings. When I asked him why he said: 'That's how they do it in Muggle films.' Memo to me: Never tell Aberforth about Blockbuster again.
But perhaps my brother has a point. Perhaps NOW is the time to tell Minerva about how I loved her since she was sixteen. The worst thing that could happen is that she could break my nose again, but she might still be weak from her illness...so THAT'S why the Muggles in the films do it that way...to avoid personal injury. Hmmm. I'm going to have to plot this out...
Well, good-bye for now, I'm off to run my plan by Fawkes.
