Title: Very Prim and Proper
Summary: An amazing thing has happened at Hogwarts- Minerva has let her hair down. And her day goes rather oddly after that...
Rating: hmmm.... I'd say 8+, for this chapter anyway... *hint hint*
Chapter 1
Minerva McGonagall was a very prim and proper lady, and you could tell that just by looking at her. And the one thing that made you absolutely sure she was a very prim and proper lady was the fact that her hair was always in a tight bun in the back of her head.
Every generation of students that studied at Hogwarts had tried to get her hair down from that bun. The Marauders were particularly famous for their attempt, which involved a fwooper, the golden snitch, and a very long string. But it seemed that there was not a force on this Earth that could remove those pins from that hair.
That is, until now.
You see, a very unusual thing happened on this day that made history, other than Professor McGonagall's hair coming down:
Professor McGonagall overslept.
It was known to most that Minerva suffered from terrible bouts of insomnia, and had trouble getting to sleep some nights. But the night before, she had not gotten to sleep until around five o' clock in the morning, and since breakfast was a seven-thirty, she was over a half an hour late. As she rushed into the Great Hall, you could have heard the sound of a thousand jaws dropping to the floor all over Britain. And that was because there stood that very prim and proper lady, with her hair down to the small of her back, in a summer dress.
And you see, she was in a summer dress because all of her robes were dirty, as she normally left them in the laundry room for the house elves to wash. But, in her fatigue, she had forgotten to transfer all of her robes to the laundry room, and was without anything to wear but her summer dress, and as it happened the day was sweltering hot, so she was not at all inconvenienced. Though thick robes did not show it, her figure was a very lovely one, and the summer dress pronounced it even more.
Her hair was another matter entirely, because it was the most magnificent head of hair ever to enter into Hogwarts since Rowena Ravenclaw herself, but that is another story.
Minerva's hair was ebony black, without a strand of silver. It was very thick, and fell almost to her waist. It also curled wildly at the ends, making the rest beautifully wavy. Of course, you can imagine in her rush, she hadn't the time to pin it all up, as that itself took at least a half an hour.
And as the students gaped at this prim and proper lady not looking very prim and proper at all, she strode to the staff table and seated herself beside the Headmaster, who, of everyone, seemed to stare the most at her.
