Chapter 6
Albus lay silently in Minerva’s guest bed; his mind was riddled with guilt. Every time he closed his eyes all could see what that bastard man smiling and the awful way Minerva had looked at him when he had attacked her. Rising from his bed knowing full well that sleep would not return to him tonight he slunk around the apartment silently, lost deeply in his own tormented mind. ‘How could I have done such a thing? The old me would never allow himself to be controlled by memories and fears, the old me would never do something so despicable to Minerva.’ Albus thought to himself.
‘But you’re not the old Albus are you!’ He heard a cackling voice answer him inside his mind. ‘Your tainted Dumbledore. Admit it you enjoyed the things Christian Writh did to you!’ The voice taunted. ‘No, no I didn’t!’ Albus argued. ‘And you enjoyed treating dearest Minerva the way you did, you adored the fear in her eyes didn’t you?’ “NO!” Albus spoke out loud. ‘Stop it, I didn’t! Please stop.” “You only wish you could have gone further you only wish you where strong enough to touch her just like Christian did to you.’ “NO!” Albus screamed collapsing onto the sofa, burying his head in his hands. “Get out of my head, just leave me alone.” His desperate sobs where only answered by a loud cackling that slowly vanished into the back of his mind. “You’re wrong, I’m not like that.” Albus whispered to himself. Hours later Albus moved from his position and made his way to Minerva’s bedroom. She looked beautiful and so peaceful in her sleep. He smiled at the sight of her, her flawless skin almost the same colour as the pristine nightgown she wore, her dark hair like water running across the silver pillow her sweet face was nestled against.
He made his way to the opposite side of the bed, carefully slipping under the duvet careful not to awaken her. He stayed as close to the edge of the bed as he could taking comfort in the warmth radiating from her body but he was too frightened to get any closer. How could he possibly touch after all that had gone to pass? How could he allow himself to taint her presence with his own? He could never touch her; he could never allow his contaminated skin to infect her. He could never allow the presence of that bastard Christian to pass from his body onto hers. He couldn’t torture her anymore with his own growing insanity yet how could he leave? Minerva seemed to be the only person capable of keeping him at least slightly grounded. He froze when he felt Minerva roll closer to him, her arms capturing him tightly his head resting against her warm bosom as he sobbed uncontrollably. “I’m here,” She whispered stroking his hair as he cried. “I’ll always be here.” She soothed rocking him gently until he at last fell into a fit full sleep.

(I know this fic hasn't seen the light of day for several months now and i'm so sorry i've just been rushed off my feet and my muse died horribly. I am really sorry to anyone who was actually reading this but well here's an update after all these months and more to come if anyones still interested)
Minerva McGonagall awoke the next day, her eyes flickering open to the orange bathed room and another hard day. Since Albus had come to her that night many days ago they had been making slow yet steady progress, each night he came to her bed allowing himself to be held and soothed by her arms and words and each day he slowly began to open up the tight restraints around his mind to her allowing her to see the trauma and horror bubbling behind his strong walls.
The man in question stood silently in the bright, bland, yet numbing white bathroom starring silently into the mirror before him, the face starring back at him one he didn’t recognise at all. Gone was the Albus he had known with his twinkling blue eyes and auburn hair to be replaced by a man of sunken eyes his skin pale, wrinkled and aged, his hair deserted by its usual sheen and slowly turning a hue of sickly grey. Everything of his appearance was grey and sunken, an obvious sign that Albus was no longer himself and had retreated into the far corners of his mind in the hope of some solace that seemed to never come. Sighing, Albus hung his head shamefully, unable to stand the face starring back at him; silvery tears trailed down his rough paper like skin as he wept for the Albus who had died in that camp, for the Albus who had deserted his cause and love for the Albus that stood before him now broken and unable to love the woman he needed so desperately to keep him grounded.
Several hundreds of miles away on the borders of Germany stood a large well-painted manor believed by the locals to be home to a rich an eccentric noble who spent all his days alone in the manor, how very wrong they had been. Elizabeth Grindle swept down the corridors of the manor her long elaborate skirts rustling as she made her way to her husband’s side. Elizabeth had married E’wald Grindle a strange, handsome man, fun loving and ever so nervous many years before after having captured his heart. No one could say that Elizabeth was not deeply in love with her husband but no body could agree on her intentions for being with him. E’wald Grindle was a very attractive man; he reeked of power, sophistication and wealth. All who did not know the nervous and shy nature of the man were quite intimidated by his appearance. E’wald had been brought easily to Elizabeth’s cause after a few gentle words of persuasion for, after all, who would look to her a slim frail looking woman with long brunette hair tumbling down her back and ample curves easily shown by her taste in long extravagant dresses. Indeed who would look at her and fear what she was capable of as they did her weak husband. No one could quite understand that this simple woman was the voice in Lord Grindlewald’s ear, the delicate hand that steered his commands to her cause, to her believes, to her twisted plans to use Hitler and have him crush the Muggle world so, she, through her husband, of course, could bring the justice and control so desperately needed for both the wizard and Muggle world.
Throwing back the doors, Elizabeth entered the large chambers she and E’wald shared as husband and wife to find his handsome form in the centre of the room, his hands wringing together nervously as he swept towards her placing a heated kiss to her lips, an obvious sign it was very bad news he wished to share indeed. “My love we just received news from Christian Writh the Balzac camp has been ransacked by Aurors. Albus Dumbledore has been freed.” Indeed, it was very bad news for the empire of the Grindles.

I'm glad your muse returned and you were able to give us another update. I can honestly say I've never thought about Grindelwald being a front man for anyone, least of all his wife. It adds an interesting twist to the story.

I was excited to see an update, however I just have one question.
Is Grindlewald just now finding out Dumbledore was freed, even though he had been for quite some time? Or did you go back a bit?
Hurry, update soon!
