A/N:: *peeks out into the Drama section* Wow, I've never really been here before.. Honestly, I'm not quite sure if this will make sense in writing as it does in my head, but my muse hasn't left me alone about it, and it's not something my mind likes to dwell on.
FanFic 100 Challenge #:: 018- Black
Languished emerald eyes bore into bitter coal ones with unmistakable hatred. Severus knew better than to speak to or approach the woman in front of him. Everything about Minerva had changed since his last encounter with her, and he knew he was the one responsible for this. The lines on her face had deepened, her skin was sickly pale, and even her once neat and tidy appearance had changed, her unkept hair now blowing madly around her face. There was no denying the pain in her eyes. Severus had, in an instant, taken away everything Minerva loved and lived for in her life.
"Severus, how could you?" she asked, her voice quavering violently in a tone he had never before heard from her.
"It wasn't my fault," he said simply. "The Unbreakable Vow-"
"Albus cared for you deeply. He trusted you... and I never understood why," Minerva said, adding her last words carefully as if saying them more to herself than to Severus.
"Minerva.." he began, but no words would come. There was nothing he could say, nothing he could do to improve either of their situations.
"Kill me," she said flatly.
"What?"
"You heard me, Severus," she urged, taking a bold step towards him. "Kill me like you killed my husband."
Severus tore his eyes away from Minerva's face. He could not bear to look at her as she pleaded with him to give her death over leaving her alone in the world without Albus.
"Coward," she spat.
Looking back to her, he could now see tears welling up in Minerva's darkened eyes. They were not tears of sadness or fear, he knew, but were tears of anger and frustration instead.
"I loved him," Minerva said, but her words were unnecessary, as this fact was obvious even to Severus. "I always feared a day such as that would come. I often had nightmares that someone had murdered him, but then I would wake up and he would hold me and tell me he loved me and that everything was okay... And it turned out that it wasn't.. But I never would have suspected you."
She sneered wildly at him again as if she was looking at a disgusting pile of filth. Reaching into her robes, she took out her wand as if unsheathing a battle sword. Slowly, painstakingly, it seemed, Minerva raised her wand to Severus's chest where she knew his black heart lay.
"Goodbye, Severus."
She tilted her head upwards as a sign of dignity and spoke clearly with what seemed to be an air of nonchalance.
"Avada Kedavra!"
THE END
A/N:: Does it seem Minerva's almost bordering on insanity??
