While I was riding home on the bus today after taking a rather tedious five-hour mock exam my mind began to drift and I came up with a plot which I am releasing as a bunny since I lack the talent to fill the gaps in myself:
1. Minerva is about 39 years old and married to none other than the minister of magic (this could be Cornelius Fudge). Minerva has put her own career on hold to fully support her husbands political one, even resigning herself to the fact that she will never have children.
2. Over the years they have become somewhat estranged, but they keep up appearances due to their position as the "first couple" of the wizarding world.
3. But when Minerva walks in on her husband enjoying himself with another woman she's had enough and calls it quits. They announce their separation citing irreconcilable differences and leaving the wizarding world guessing what might have caused the break up.
4. In desperate need of a life change and getting away from London Minerva applies for the position of Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts.
5. This is where she first meets Albus Dumbledore, the Defence against the Dark Arts teacher. Although Albus has been teaching there for a long time they haven't met before since she herself went to school in Beauxbatons.
6. Albus is intrigued by his beautiful but obviously deeply saddened and withdrawn colleague. He feels more and more drawn to her and slowly discovers why she is so uptight and insecure.
7. Minerva slowly learns to trust again and in the end Albus and her fall in love and become a couple (albeit slowly).
8. Minerva discovers that it isn't even too late to start a family of her own. But before they arrive at the point of happily ever after there is one last thing to do - ask her estranged husband for the long overdue divorce. And he won't let her get off that easily - but she has one more ace up her sleeve: her husbands political career would be over if word of the reason for their split up got around.
9. This could be told in retrospect by Albus and Minerva to their grandchildren.
10. Multiple chapters are called for as is fluff and possibly a lemon or two.
I hope somebody takes my bunny and turns it into a magical fluffy pink rabbit with wings to fly...
