Music: A Magic Beyond All We Do Here
It was the first day of the summer holidays, the train had carried the students away that morning, and true to tradition the staff of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was gathered in the Great Hall for their end of year party. This year, Albus had procured a magical version of what Muggles call a karaoke machine. All one had to do was slip a piece of parchment into the machine bearing the title of a song and the melody would fill the room while the words appeared line by line in flowing golden letters. Everyone had been a bit hesitant to try it at first, but after a few butterbeers and some firewhiskey punch they loosened up and gave it a try.
Minerva knew she had had too much to drink when she allowed Rolanda and Poppy to pull her onto the makeshift stage for a rousing rendition of The Supreme’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” Laughing, she stumbled off the stage and back toward her seat, but didn’t quite make it. Instead, she tripped over Albus’ foot and landed in his lap.
“Oops, sorry,” she giggled when he caught her.
“Quite alright, I think I rather like it,” he grinned.
“You’re drunk, Albus Dumbledore,” she said trying to sound stern as she poked a wobbly finger into his chest.
He leaned in close to her ear and whispered, “So are you, my dear. Your hair is coming loose.”
And indeed, it was. Many strands of Minerva’s long dark hair had found their way out of the usually tight confines of her bun. Minerva, however, couldn’t bring herself to care. She was too busy thinking about the way Albus’ breath on her skin had sent shivers down her spine.
The two just sat there, looking at each other, Albus’ arms locked firmly around Minerva’s slim waist preventing her escape. Neither had noticed Hagrid step up to the stage. Rough burly looking man that he was with a heart like a marshmallow, he was drunkenly singing a love song (dedicated to Norbert, the dragon he had lost earlier in the year). Eventually, the words of his song permeated the professors’ whiskey fogged brains.
When I first saw you I already knew
There was something inside of you
Something I thought I'd never find
Angel of mine
I look at you (looking at you) looking at me
Now I know why they say the best things are free
Gonna love you 'til the end of time
Angel of mine
What you mean to me you'll never knowDeep inside I need to show
You came into my life sent from above
Better than a dream, such a perfect love
And I'll adore you 'til the end of time
Angel of mine
Woah waoh, angel, yeah, oh
Nothing means more to me than what we share
No one in this whole world can ever compare
Last night the way you moved is still on my mind
Angel, angel, of mine
What you mean to me you'll never know
Deep inside I need to show
You came into my life (my life) sent from above
Better than a dream, such a perfect love, perfect love
And I'll adore you 'til the end of time
Angel, angel, of mine, of mine
Angel, oh angel, angel
I never knew I could feel each moment
As if it were new
Every breath I take or vow that I make
I want to share it with you, share it with you
When I first saw you I already knew
There was something inside of you
Something I thought I'd never find
Angel of mine
You came into my life, sent from above, up above baby
Better than a dream, such a perfect love
You're such a perfect love
And I'll adore you 'til the end of time
Angel of mine
What you mean to me you'll never know
Deep inside I need to show
I look at you, looking at me
Now I know why they say the best things are free
Gonna love you 'til the end of time
Angel of mine
Albus and Minerva continued gazing deep into each other’s eyes, not realizing that they had become the center of attention. As the song ended, Albus gently brushed a strand of hair behind Minerva’s ear, letting his fingers linger on her sensitive skin for longer than was necessary. He leaned in until their noses were almost touching and whispered, “You’re beautiful, angel of mine.”
Any response Minerva may have come up with was cut off when his lips covered her own. She recovered from the shock after a quick moment and responded to the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck. Fire shot through both their bodies and he deepened the kiss with something like a growl. She moaned and pressed her body closer to his. When thy finally broke apart, breathing raggedly, they were greeted by an uproar of cheers, whistles, and clapping from the rest of the staff that rivaled the noise at the Gryffindor table when they won the House Cup the previous evening. Rolanda gave a particularly loud whoop and even Severus scowled a bit less than usual when he said, “It’s about bloody time!”
Minerva blushed and Albus chuckled and then said, “I love you, Minerva.”
“I love you too,” she breathed. “Maybe we could finish this conversation somewhere a little more private?” Minerva looked pointedly at their eager audience.
“As you wish, my dear.” Albus scooped her up in his arms and started to carry Minerva out of the hall.
The last thing the rest of the staff heard as they exited was Minerva shrieking “Albus, put me down” and his answering laugh. This would go down in history as the night the Gamekeeper inadvertently played matchmaker for the Headmaster and Deputy Headmistress.

That's it, not my best fic, I'll admit. I was inspired by both the challenge and the "Drunk Minerva" fan art posted to the list the other day. I hope you like it, perhaps I could be persuaded to write the lemon that comes after.
