“Albus, time to wake up!” Minerva called shaking her husband’s shoulder, and attempting to get out of bed. The only reply was a grumbled no, and Albus’ arms tightening around Minerva’s waist bringing her back to the bed, and in his arms. Minerva struggled as Albus threw a leg over her, “Albus Dumbledore! We have a lot of shopping to do today, now get a move on. Out of this bed!”
“Minerva,” Albus whined.
“Don’t you Minerva me,” she replied in mock anger. “Up Mister!” A quick kiss to his forehead, and Minerva made her way to the bathroom for her shower.
Albus looked at the clock, ‘6:00.’ Groaning he lay back in bed, and vaguely wondered why he married such a morning person. Just then a beautiful Scottish tune invaded his thoughts from the direction of the shower, making Albus smile. ‘That’s why,’ he thought to himself as he rose out of bed, and used his wand to make it up.
An hour later the couple was making their way down the steps of Hogwarts, “My dear, should we apparate from the gates?”
“No, it is beautiful today, Albus, and look at all this snow. Let’s walk.” Agreeing they set off in the direction of Hogsmeade.
“Minerva, who do we have to shop for today?”
Pulling out a rather long list in Albus’ opinion Minerva rattled off, “your brother, great uncle, Aunt Eleanor, my ten nieces and nephews, Diana and her husband, Maxim and his wife, Amelia and her husband,-”
“-never liked him,” Albus interjected. Minerva shared a knowing smile with her husband and continued, “the staff, our neighbors in Aberdeen, members of the Order, and Harry.”
“Do we have enough money?” Albus blanched trying not to count up the number of people Minerva had just mentioned.
“Of course we do, you old coot, and if one must indulge it should be at Christmas for those you love.
Leaning down to Minerva’s ear Albus whispered, “You are a softy deep down. I’m not fooled.” Minerva turned her head to whisper in turn, “If you tell, I’ll hurt you. Can’t have my weakness get out, now can we?”
“You used the singular, my dear.”
“Are you implying I have many?” Minerva asked raising an eyebrow.
“Never, you are perfect.”
“And you are a charmer.”
Wiggling his eyebrows at Minerva Albus slipped his arm around her waist for the remainder of the walk. Upon entering Hogsmeade Minerva said, “Alright, let’s split up. You take your family, neighbors, and the male staff and Order members, except the Weasleys. I’ll meet you at noon at the Three Broomsticks for lunch, and then we can finish together.”
An exchange of a kiss, and “I love you,” Minerva and Albus set off in their different directions. While separated it had started to know, and Minerva wished she had Albus near her for extra warmth. Walking into the Three Broomsticks right at noon Minerva shivered.
“Professor McGonagall,” greeted Rosemerta, “Professor Dumbledore is awaiting you upstairs, so you may eat in peace.”
Expressing her thanks Minerva followed Rosemerta. Once alone with Albus, Minerva crossed to where he was sitting in front of a large fire. As soon as she sat down Albus removed her cloak, wrapped her in a blanket, and drew her close.
Minerva sighed happily as she settled into Albus’ embrace, a hand resting on his stomach, “Did you finish, Albus?”
“All but Severus, did you love?”
“Not quite, so we still have Severus, Harry, Poppy, and the Weasleys. Not too bad.” Minerva mused as she played with a button on Albus’ robe.
“Are you warm yet, sweetheart,” Albus asked concerned. Not a heavy woman Minerva could become chilled quite quickly, and it was very cold outside.
“Not quite.”
“Maybe I can help,” Albus whispered as he leaned down, and softly brushed his lips against hers. He withdrew and pressed small kisses to each corner of her mouth, before kissing her lips again. The kisses became increasingly harder, and Albus gently pushed her mouth open. His hands massaging her back, and his tongue working miracles on her own Minerva couldn’t stifle a moan.
She was warm now and rather weak in the knees as well, but just as Minerva was about to suck Albus’ tongue Rosemerta appeared with their lunch, “You two are worse than your hormonal students. How long have you been married?” she teased.
“Forty glorious years,” Albus replied.
“I’ve got him trained well; why just last year I made him add the glorious,” Minerva joked as she winked to Rosemerta.
Albus and Minerva enjoyed their meal, and set out to brave the weather again so they could finish their shopping. Having only one day to do it, everyone needed to be bought for if they could manage it. Two hours later, frozen, they were just finishing up with Harry’s.
“I want to get him a pensieve, Minerva. We can send it anonymously, and with instructions.” Minerva agreed, and she bought him a new sweater as well.
Walking back to the castle was not as enjoyable for the couple; with students out they couldn’t act like the married couple they were. Albus kept looking at Minerva, and she him.
“You look cold,” he whispered.
“I am. It must have snowed another two or three inches today. I’m wet, too.” Minerva complained.
“Well now we don’t’ want you to get sick, so I suggest a hot bath, some hot chocolate, and a loving husband.”
Minerva smiled adoringly at Albus and very softly whispered, “I love you.”
Once in their rooms, all gifts lying neatly in a corner of the sitting room, Albus made to draw the hot bath. Albus and Minerva sipped their hot chocolate, and Minerva relaxed against Albus’ chest. Albus was tracing patterns on Minerva’s thigh thinking of a way he’d like to spend the rest of the afternoon when he wondered why his lovely wife wasn’t responding. Looking down and turning her Albus discovered Minerva had fallen asleep.
“Sweetheart, wake up.”
Albus did manage to get Minerva to stand on her own as he dried her off, and dressed her in one of his nightshirts. Carrying her to the bed Albus fell asleep along side his wife, his head buried in her hair, a leg thrown over hers, and snuggled under the covers to protect them from the cold winter day.
“Minerva,” Albus whined.
