Rating: 13+ (Everyone on here, basically)
"Oh, what's that one?" asked Albus, pointing to a large colorful building with several odd spires coming out of it. As they approached, a large round smiley face moved side to side counting each second. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
Minerva took out a map and moved her finger across the colorful page. "That one is called It's a Small World."
Albus smiled widely. "Ah, yes! I seem to recall reading about it in Disneyland for the Magically Inclined. I believe that it should be announcing the time in...right about now." He paused and the doors beneath the face opened up to show the time, as a parade of dolls came dancing out. "How splendid! Let's go on it."
"It's not like the last ride, is it? That's a dirty trick, if you ask me, keeping a ride hidden inside a building and then the bloody thing was in the dark!" She gave Albus a sidelong glance.
"No, no, this one is a slow-moving boat ride. Besides, you enjoyed Space Mountain," he teased.
Minerva looked incredulous as she folded the map back up. "I did not!"
They joined the long line for the ride and Albus laughed at his friend. "Then why did you insist that we ride it again."
She joined in his laughter. "Okay, I admit, it was fun."
They stood in line for nearly twenty minutes before boarding a small boat with a group of other people. They were at the back and it was a rather tight fit. Minerva was pushed into Albus' side and he put his arm around her shoulders in order to get more comfortable. This action made them appear to be cuddling. Minerva inhaled his lemony scent and smiled. She had secretly hoped that something would happen between them when she agreed to go on this vacation to California with him. They had been getting closer these last few months ever since the downfall of Voldemort and she had been waiting for some indication that he felt the same way about her as she did of him.
Albus glanced down at her. "Are you comfortable, Minerva?"
She moved her head and their faces were inches apart. "Quite," she said with a smile.
The boat began to move and they entered a tunnel, taking them into the building. There were dancing and singing dolls representing countries from all over the world. Minerva smiled proudly when she saw the little boy playing the bagpipes. The same song was sung throughout the whole ride, sometimes in a different language.
It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all
There is just one moon
And one golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to everyone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world.
The ride lasted about fifteen minutes, ending with a finale of all the countries together in one scene. Albus held out his hand to help Minerva out of the boat and for some reason, didn't let it go. They went on several more rides that afternoon. Minerva, however, refused to ride in the giant tea cups. Albus enthusiastically joined four giggling Japanese school girls in their cup and Minerva watched as they spun around and around. She nearly got sick just watching them.
"Why don't we have dinner at the hotel," suggested Albus, sometime later.
"That would be wonderful." They boarded the Monorail and found a quiet spot on the train. There weren't very many people on board. After the engineer came on the speaker to announce that they would be heading out to Disneyland Hotel, Albus began to hum. Minerva recognized it as that song from It's a Small World.
"Albus, stop humming that song. I think I've heard enough of it for one day."
"Oh, sorry, I didn't even realize it." Not even ten seconds later, he started humming again.
"You're doing it again."
"I can't help it! The song is stuck in my head." He stopped, but not for long.
Minerva, thinking that there was no other way, did the only thing she thought would shut him up - she kissed him. Albus was stunned, but it didn't take long before he was returning her kiss. They broke apart and he looked at her in surprise. "What was that for?"
"It got you to stop humming, didn't it? I've also wanted to do that for a long time," she admitted.
"So have I," he said. "Well, if humming that song gets you to kiss me, then perhaps I shall hum it all the time. What would you do if I actually sang the words?"
"I may have to hex you at that point."
A/N: I'm sure that everyone who's been on that ride now as the song stuck in their head. I know I do. Yet, every time I go there, I ride it. :-)
