Black Cats Bad Luck
“You know Albus, it isn’t a good day to be trying that out”
“Minerva, it’s a perfect day to try out fishing and it’s also the only day I have free,” He said, wondering why she was feeling this way towards him, she had been trying to convince him not to try out fishing but he wondered why,
“Albus do you know what day it is?”
“Day for fishing?” He said smiling to her
“No!”
“Then what day my dear”
“Friday the 13th”
“…So…”
“Well for starts it’s a bad luck day and…”
“Yes only if you have seen a black cat as well…is it not my dear”
“Yes that’s what and ‘why’ I’m saying it…there’s a black cat behind you, on the rock and I also saw one this morning…”
“My dear, I haven’t sent he cat behind me…yet, and as for this morning you had seen the cat, so the bad luck isn’t upon me.” He said smiling and going back to tie his fishing rod.
“Well if something terrible goes wrong don’t blame me…”
Just then Hagrid had come running down to them, declaring to Albus an emergency had happened at the school.
“Told you,” She said with a disappointing look,
“Oh,” Getting agitated by her assurance of bad luck,” I’ll be right back Minerva, watch my rod for me please”
“Do you trust me with such a responsibility on this day, considering that I’ve seen a black cat?” she asked
“Yes” Annoyed, that of a person of her age, she would believe in such superstition,
After several minuets later, Albus returned to the lake.
“Minerva?”
“I’m here!” She said at last “I…what on earth happened to you Albus?”
Albus’ robes had been covered in muck and dirt and he now looked extremely tired and exhausted.
“Well, Hagrid needed help with his brother, and well, it seemed he got out of had and managed to get a hold me while I was trying to calm him down and…well “He waved his arms about, over his appearance “ guess you know why I look like this now.”
“Told you it was bad luck,” she said laughing
Albus rolled his eyes,
“Well my dear, I’m here now…safe and in on piece, so care to learn how to fish?”
“Yes”
After setting up the fishing rods and being all set, something struck Albus,
“My dear?”
“Yes?”
“You said you had seen a black cat this morning, on this ’superstitious’ day. Why I haven’t you received bad luck…yet?”
“Well I did earlier…”Blushing ”But rather not talk about it”
“Come on my dear, can’t be as bad as what happened to me”
“You saying your beginning to believe this ‘Superstitious nonsense’ as you call it?”
“No, was just curious. Now what happened?”
Debating whether to tell Albus, she gave in and began to tell him.
“Well…oh!”
A tug pulled on Minerva’s line, pulled her out of her explanation.
“Hold on tight my dear, you seemed to have a good catch!”
Albus said smiling and jumping about like a giddy schoolboy.
“Albus…”Trying to tug the line hard, but couldn’t. So Albus made his way behind her and helped her grip her rod” Now what do I ….dooo!!!”
Before she could do anything, or could Albus. Minerva had gone head first into the lake, with Albus following behind her.
SPLASH!
Gasping for breath Minerva responded,
“That’s what happened!”
“Pardon my dear?” Said Albus fixing his ascue glasses on his nose
“I was walking round the lake this morning, when I saw the cat, I thought nothing off it until I slipped and fell in”
“Ahhh…that’s why you were late for breakfast”
“Yes, I had to change”
Coming out of the lake drenched, Albus stated
“Oh well…guess I’ll never try fishing again.” He said with a charming smile to Minerva,” especially on Friday the 13th with black cats about” A shiver run up Minerva’s back
“You cold my dear?”
A death glare was sent his way by Minerva,” May I remind you I just fell into a freezing cold lake…for the second time this morning!”
“Oh yes. Sorry” He said, walking up to her and placing his arms around her, “ except you have me this time to warm you up” He smiled.
“You know what…” She said, snuggling into his embrace” I have a better idea…well a ‘game’ we can play” She said lifting her head to look at him.
“Oh” He said smiling at her “ And what would that be?” Leaning his head closer
“Well…” She said kissing him lightly on the lips “ Chess!”
“Ok!” He said, placing his arm around her waist and both, making their way to his rooms, “ but no cheating…”
“I never cheat,” She said disapprovingly
“You ‘tease’ me too often during the game Professor McGonagall...especially under the table “ He said grinning
“Yes, but… I’ll probably won’t succeed this time…due to bad luck and all” She said grinning.
“Oh goody!” Albus stated merrily,” that will let me show you sorry, ‘tease’ you with some of my moves” He said grinning this time
“Albus!” she slapped him on the arm.
“I was referring to chess my dear”
“Of course you were Albus!”
“Well, it is ‘bad’ luck day my dear and you know I’ll never get away with it…unless we didn’t ‘tease’ I think I just might”
“Well, prepare to ‘show’ me.” Minerva said huskily
A twinkle appeared in Albus eyes and the pair walked faster than before to his rooms, to proceed with, hopefully their ‘game’ with out any ‘bad’ luck…unless Albus cheated.
