~by the way I'm the worse gift wrapper in the world.~
Misconceptions
Pomona Sprout looked around Twilight Threads, trying to find the perfect gift for her wife’s birthday. Minerva sighed impatiently.
“Com’n just pick something. You know it will be on the floor five minutes later. I don’t know why you bother. I definitely don’t know why I had to come along.”
Pommie was flipping through racks of nightgowns. “You and Poppy are the same size give or take a few inches. Besides this way I have a cover story. You were in desperate need of hair pins and catnip.”
“Oh for Merlin’s sake, here. Black goes with everything. It’s one of your favorite colors” Minerva shove the nightgown at Pommie, who examined it in great detail.
“It could work.” Pommie nodded. “Let’s try it on. Oh, look, lotions…“
The day couldn’t end fast enough for Minerva who had to accompy Pommie on a various stops, including a stop at the Apparate Sweet shop, Delightful Dungeon (where Pommie used Xiomara’s name for the 15% discount on a nice set of handcuffs. Minerva once again didn’t want to know about her friends’ sex lives.), and finally the pet store for catnip (Pommie’s thanks for Minerva).
As soon as she got back to her chambers, Minerva spread everything out on her and went to search for bronze wrapping paper. Pommie had begged Minerva to wrap the gift since she was an awful gift wrapper. Minerva had the rather titillating note from the Herbology professor by the nightgown. A knock interrupted her wrapping.
“Who is it?” Minerva called from the depths of the closet.
“Albus. May I come in?”
“Yes. You know w the password.”
“I just wanted to know if we were still on for chess after
dinner.” Albus spied the nightgown and note. His eyebrow rose as he read the note and his heart sank. Apparently his best friend was in love but not with him. He never picture Minerva and Pommie tonight but the note had made it quite clear the two were an item.
“On second thought, I have some owls to catch up on.” Albus rushed out. He couldn’t believe he lost Minerva to Pomona Sprout of all people.
“Wait. I just needed to finish something.” Minerva put finished touches on the present.
“How was your day, Albus?” Minerva asked cheerfully.
Albus smiled sadly. “I’m afraid I received some bad news. The person I’ve been in love with loves another”
Minerva gasped. “Who would be crazy enough not to love you?” She asked, her heart breaking at the thought of losing her chance with Albus.
“It doesn’t matter.” Albus replied. He turned to leave the room.
“Oh. Well, if that’s all, I have papers to grades.” Minerva was puzzled about Albus’ strange behavior.
“Yes. Good-bye.”
Albus was feeling ill at the thought of Minerva being in love with someone else. He tossed and turned all night, finally waking up Poppy for some potion. Poppy answered the door to her room wearing a certain black nightgown. Albus’ jaw dropped, when he recognized the black nightgown.
“Albus?” Poppy interrupted Albus’ racing thought.
“But that’s Minerva’s…” Albus was confused.
“No, this is Pommie’s anniversary gift for me.” Poppy said as Pommie came up and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend.
“But how long?” Albus stammered.
“A while.” Poppy smiled. “About a year.”
“So much for being a Legillmens” Pommie teased. “So you are in love with our friend.”
“I just blew it, didn’t it?” Albus asked miserably.
“Maybe not. We need an expert schemer, a Slytherin. Poms, call Mara.” Poppy ordered.
Minerva was moping around. So Albus found someone else and she was left alone.
An owl flew in through the window. “Meet me at the Astronomy Tower.” Strange. I usually don’t get anonymous request for meetings in the Astronomy Tower.
Minerva was tempted to blow it off as a prank but after seeing how happy her friends were, Minerva decided to go. Besides between being a brave Gryffindor and having the curiosity of a cat how could she refuse?
Much to Albus’ protests, Xiomara arranged the Astronomy Tower just like a romantic hotel suite decorate in tartan. When Minerva opened the door to the Astronomy tower she was overwhelm.
“Albus?” Minerva stammered.
“Minerva, I thought you and Pomona were together…”Albus started to said.
“Don’t be silly. Poppy and Pommie have been together for a year. Besides I’m straight. But I thought you were in love…” Minerva was confused.
“Oh but I am! I’m madly, deeply in love with you. When I thought I blew my chance with you, I swore if I have got another chance, I would grab it with both hands. Minerva, marry me.”
“Yes!”
A day later
As Minerva finished telling the story to Poppy, Pommie and Xiomara, she noticed Pommie had smirk on her face.
“What?” Minerva asked.
“I’m just happy that I got my money out of the nightgown. Poppy didn’t wear it for than two minutes and it would have been a waste if it didn’t serve a greater purpose.”
“I thought that was the greater purpose.” Poppy pouted.
“I’m never going to go shopping for your anniversary again with either one of you.” Minerva swore.
