I tried to do this in the Charming Roots - format, zo a 200-word fic. Man, that was hard! Still, I hope you will enjoy it! Confession Minerva stared at the chessboard. Normally, she could feel Albus’ eyes fixed on her, but today he seemed distracted. All evening his moves had been rash and his conversation next to non-excistent. “I wish you would put a little more effort in our game, dear.” she said quietly. “What? Oh I am sorry, my dear… I was far away.” his eyes were so sad. “What is it? Anything I can do?” She stretched out her arm and touched his hand. Albus shook his head. “No, I don’t think so. It has all been such a long time ago.” his eyes filled with tears. “Tell me, love, at least you have a willing ear…” her hand squeezed his. “I suppose I will never know if it was me or the other one, but during a fight, my sister died of a stray spell.” The tears that had filled his eyes, were rolling over his face. “Your sister?” “Ariana. Beautiful. Brilliant.” His voice was a whisper. Minerva got up and held him close. “Your love will set her free, my darling.” She kissed his hair. He cried into her chest, she thought about his confession. What was she to do?

I'm glad you like the CR Board Flash Fic challenge format enough to use it here. The poor guy. I can't imagine the guilt that would come with not knowing. No wonder he changed his life. Nice job and thanks for responding!

Nice piece. I like how Minerva was able to tell by little details such as his strategy etc, that he was not all there. And the ending is quite honest. I think I a lot of people feel out of their depths when confronted with another person's pain.
Thank you for sharing.
