before I get told off again what things mean?
Yes, I have been writing for years, but only since January have I been posting the fan fic, and I have not a clue about the terms.
Like, any and all terms that you have ever heard, what they mean, and where they came from?
Lemons to me make lemonaide. When I was growing up a Lemon was a car or a product that didn't work properly. Imagin my surprise to see lemon in a review, and that it *is a good thing*
(though, if you think about it, does lemon make a reference to puckering up???)
AU ? what is that? to me AU is the elemental symbol for gold. AG is silver.
Like until two weeks ago, a Shipper was something that I sent the mail in by ground carrier.
Help?

well, from what I undestand other shippers use lemons and those characters have nothing to do with lemondrops.
though, I am curious too, why the age line is 13, but, in some places it should be 18? esp if the content is NC17?
sooo confused! brain HURTS-- (gasping) Must- get- chocolate---
Thanks, Taylor

I do not know many terms but:
Shipper is from the word relationship...you support a relationship for Albus and Minerva you ship their relationship.
Lemon is just a term for a story focused solely on sexual content...you can have a backstory and what not but they tend to be shorter and the majority of the fic is taken by sex in some fashion.
AU i believe is alternate universe...a great example would be minerva and albus raising harry b/c it did not happen. Many people write AU stories in a what if situation, or just b/c they want to put characters from one world into another or vice versa.

...didn`t get throu your post without a translation book... ...And it didn`t even help me characters are lemons... ...I don`t get it... I also didn`t get your problem with the rating stuff. Storys with a bit of kissing and sex talking are age line 13. The more...intimid stuff is NC17. Sure opinions part what should be rated in which way... Whatever...am confused too...don`t understand some rambling......This is sure not the oxfort english we get to learn in school....but way more fun...if you understand it. brain hurts...hands hurt from slipping throu the translation book sides... Chocolate?...sounds good..anyway, does it hop ?

uh, no, the chocolate russles though... someone once told me that you shouldn't buy half price chocolate after valentines day because they then would know that no one gave you any...
(snort-as IF a box of chocolate would last more than a week with me-!!)
its five pm and I haven't got out of bed because I don't feel well, no one is making me get out of bed, and while I haven't eaten anything and I am getting to the place where I know I *should* I haven't figured out what I really want to do anyway about food. or getting up. or - well, cripes, its 14 degrees outside. my bedroom is 47 degrees. do ya blame me for pulling the covers over my head??
and its my day off.
must find where the chocolate is...

Christy's definitions were good.
Lemon basically equals rated R or NC-17 for sexual content.
AU means alternate universe as in what you're writing really didn't or wouldn't happen at Hogwarts based on JKR's stories.
WIP means work in progress.
OC means original character, as in the author created them.
OOC means out of character, as in "Minerva is acting very OOC in this fic."
A/N is an author's note.
Those are the only ones I can think of right now that used to confuse me. Hope that helped.

well, I did get out of bed briefly, did a load of laundry, cooked up perogies and had a peanut butter jelly sandwich on top of it. Coke is on the bedside table, chocolate is on the shelf in the box. Had a good cry. felt shaky when I got out of bed and then felt like crap. burnt out. blew my nose and snuggled under the covers. hugged eeyore a bit and used him to prop up my bad arm. waiting for dinner to settle before I dig in to something else. Might read a bit, and then- who knows? I just though- cant think of anything to write. I have one title that I know will work for a story, and I know people want me to continue the Neville story I started on Fan fic, but that will have to wait a bit. I just can't do anything anymore, not right at least. Taylor

uh, sorry bout the coke- er,- (uuurrppp...) I dunno. for some reason I haven't been feeling well these last few days, and I can't put my finger on it. there is alot of Flu virus going around, and so far except for losing my voice, I haven't gotten that ill. but there are other things that may be going on, so I don't know. You can find the first story I wrote - here- www.fanfiction.net/s/2212903/1/or do a search by the title, "shadows in the wind" after that just click my name and it will take you to my profile which links the storys that I have written. you - do know what a perogie is, don't you? White chocolate is ok. have you tried the very dark chocolate? sometimes its the fillers that give problems. Sleep tight. Taylor

In my study of different foods about the world I have found some that are quiet the same, and some that are different.
A perogie is dough that has been rolled out and cut into circles, they put mashed potatos, cheese with potatos, sourkraut, prunes or just roccota cheese. they fold them over then drop them in boiling water until they float, and then serve them with melted butter and onions. it is a lenten dish served on fridays when we don't eat meat. they are very high calorie, and I could eat a dozen by myself- no problem...
the other interesting dish that I have found is how close the common meatloaf/ stuffed peppers/ cabbage rolls and haggas are together, and it really is pretty much the same concept, it just is how they are cooked.
of course I have only had the meatloaf/ stuffed peppers and cabbage rolls, and just - looked at the haggas recipe, (my grand mother used to make it all the time though and my grandfather never complained. ) it was all how they had avalible how to cook the stuff, if you didn't have an oven you had to cook it in the pot, and meat in the pot over open flames to keep it together would have to be in - something, if that makes sense.
Btw, got you more coke, its behind the haluska,,,

On the subject of lemons:
'lemon' is actually just one of the many interesting fruit used to rate fanfiction. They go like this (roughly according to MPAA guidelines):
Tangerine- G; Orange - PG; Grapefruit - PG-13; Lime - R; Lemon - NC-17
Don't you feel enlightened? ^_^
