Hello
I'm new to the board and wondering how to post in progress works. On Fanfiction.net my name is Minerva McDore and the story is "Into the lions' den". I'm stuck on the current chapter. Help, please!

If you can post the url of your story we can take a look at it. you may also find the appr. place on this site and do a copy and paste of your story go to edit, go to select all, go to edit, go to copy, open a dialog box and then go back to edit and click paste. Your story will then be pasted in the dialog box. click post, and then we can read it here.

;D Hi there! Welcome to the board! (You too, Taylor!)
You can post your story here if you want. Just find the appropriate category board and start a new thread. Put the title of your fic as the "Subject" put your story in the "message" box. It's easier if you label each chapter. If it's a big chapter you may have to break it up by posting half the chapter, then replying to your own post and continuing on. Unfortunately you can only have 10,000 characters in the message box.
If you're stuck, story-wise, I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who are willing to give you some ideas and feedback.
- April :-)

Your right school can be very boring at times. Plus the profs only thing that your taking one class so they can give you as much work as they want. Total drag ;D
Anyway I just tried emailing you through the site. Hopefully that works. let me know if it doesn't

School is only what you make of it. - while it may seem boring, if you apply yourself-- you will discover a new world.
It is not overrated. You may think your teachers arn't smart, or that you know everything, but I bet that if they wanted to they could leave you feeling dumb with just a few questions. Respect them, and learn from them and maybe you might make something out of yourself. Do you really want to be stuck behind a counter saying "do you want fries with that?" the rest of your life. Learn while you have the chance. School is difficult for alot of people, but it has its rewards. don't blow it off because what you learn may make the differnce in your life.
Just ask JK . If you look into her work she has stacks and stacks of things that she researched- from the ghosts, to history, to latin, to even the creatures that she has interact with everyone.
Perhaps if you try to think that what your learning is something that you would learn if you were going to hogwarts, would you find that boring??
The hardest work for a teacher is to go into class when the students don't listen 0r do their homework. You need to understand the basic concepts before you can move on- Look, chemistry is potions class, Math is arithmacy, biology is herbology, - see what I mean? true you may have teachers like snape to deal with, but if you apply your self things will go better.
If you know it already, then you owe it to yourself to go to the teacher and ask for something challenging so that you are not board. Even if you don't like the subject, its easier to do something in class than nothing at all. and if your reading this in class instead of doing home work, tisk tisk tisk.
You may not think that what you learn will ever do you a bit of good in your life, but it will. English will help you fill out job applications. Math can tell you if what your moving from point A to point be will fail if how your moving it will not be heavy enough. Science may stop you from placing an alkalide in a container before placing water in it- you never know what you will learn.
I learned how to do cpr, and a man who was choaking to death lived because I paid attention in school and got out what I had put into it.

First of all sorry if we offending by making the same claims that every student has made about their school careers at one point or another. I can’t speak for idealrain, but I have classes that I’m required to take whether I want to or not. Combine that with a prof who is only teaching because that’s part of their requirements for having research grants at that university, and you have one boring class.
I have classes this term, with profs I adore and respect. They have corrupted my mind for the past four years. Though I haven’t enjoyed every minute of it, but I have enjoyed the ride, and the knowledge they have imparted. Despite this, I can still get very bored in their classes, not because of the subject matter but because of the atmosphere, and sometimes the other students. Do you remember having class with that annoying guy at the front of the room, who had to ask a question every five seconds, and each time the prof had just said what the guy was asking about or everyone knows that the next thing out of the prof's mouth would have answered the question if only the prof had been allowed to lecture. And this person is driving the prof just as insane as the other students. Grrr.
As to the Hogwarts reference: I believe that everyone got bored or frustrated with their Charms, Transfiguration, Divination, or History of Magic at some point.
I am not saying that these subjects aren’t interesting, but presentation is half the battle. Giant Wars and Goblin Revolts are interesting, but in the hands of the wrong person, Binns, you can be asleep in five minutes.
It’s all about whether the subject is interesting to the individual. I should know, I love obscure history, which I may or may not be able to apply in the real world.
(CPR: was probably a class that you took on your own time, and because it is useful, practical information to have at your disposal. Kudos for saving a life and remaining level-headed in a tense situation. I don’t know if I could do that.)
Okay I think my rant is over. And I don’t mean to offend you or any one else. I do know that life and learning is what you make if it, but sometimes the sleep deprived mind of a university student faced with a 8 am class on *think of the most boring subject to you personally, example quantum mechanics* can and will lead to a cationic state.

I agreed with Taylor. My original point was that hanging out on the board is much more fun than studying the 20 court cases I have. Sorry if I offended anyone.
