All righty, I have a random question for a fic that I'm writing- it's terribly nit picky of me, but I want to know just the same: Do all students get their Hogwarts letters on their 11th birthday? Or is it August the 1st? Or whenever Harry got his? Because my fic would say, "she got the letter [da da da] months ago..." and since her birthday is on the lexicon and I mean to look it up, I want to be accurate with the month. Or maybe I'm just being a perfectionist. So, if anyone knows, please do tell.

Hmmm... I don't know. I mean, I am sure it is on the same day. I think. Cuz I think they are all sent at the same time, regardless of their birthday.. Cuz some people would be born after the fact, so... I have no idea at all... ~mmadlyinlove~

Yeah, I would definitely figure the children get them all at the same time. Hey, why didn't I get mine?! I think the owl just got sent the wrong way. Flying from Hogwarts to America is tough work, don't ya know? lol Excuse me, I'm feeling a little goofy at the moment.

I've read a lot of fanfiction when they get their letters on their birthday, though I've always thought it was the same day, i.e. when Harry first got his letter, not when he actually got it. Of course it is always possible to argue that since muggle born students must be visited so that it is explained to them and they know it is not a joke it would be quite impossible to send them all on the same day. So maybe birthdays would be better. Only, well Harry did not originally get his letter on his birthday but before only he never quite received it. So I don't know but I suspect they all get them on the same day.

Thanks for your help, everyone! I've thought over your replies and figured it does make more sense for them all to get them on the same day. Thanks again for the help! I'm off to finish writing.

In later years they come in the middle of summe and remember, they tried to reach Harry before his birthday but Vernon got in the way.

Because it's on the same day as Harry's an' all... Yep. It was bad. And I knew I was being silly, so Icouldn't tell anyone... It sucked.

hi. This is so silly, but so fun. On my 11th birthday, someone thought it would be fun to send me a Hogwarts letter. They did it in detail, even coppyed McGonagall's signature. My friends must be really crazed up don't you think? We are all harry potter crazy fans, but really! That was some years ago...sadly I don't go to Hogwarts...
