Gwenavere Belafore walked up the steps to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, smiling as she did. No, she didn't attend school there when she was younger, and no, she did know anyone there that she was returning to. She was getting away from America.
Gwen wasn't too tall, only standing 5 foot, 9 inches from the ground, and was of average build. She had deep auburn hair and smokey blue-green eyes, just like her father's. She had a scarlet set of robes on, and lace up black boots.
Walking into the Entrance Hall, Gwen gasped. The place was bigger than she'd imagined. "Even Jerry Lee couldn't describe this one with 'Great Balls of Fire'." she said softly to herself. She made her way to the Headmaster's office, stopping and looking at the paintings along the way. Gwen was amazed by everything in the school that she had seen so far. The paintings and statues of Hogwarts were breathtaking.
After reaching reaching the gargoyle guarding the Headmaster's office, Gwen was nearly out of breath. "Just grand.... I don't remember the password he gave me." she whispered to herself. Not a moment sooner than she did, did a woman, raven black hair pulled up in a bun and square glasses on her nose, walked up and said the password. (Ginger Newts) "Oh, hello." she said, eying Gwen.
"Hi," Gwen glanced at the staircase. "Were you going up?" she asked, pointing up the stairs.
"Oh yes. I am assuming you are as well." the older woman replied, gesturing that Gwen go first. Gwen smiled and walked up the spiral staircase to find an oak door. She knocked politely and heard a muffled "Come in!" from the other side.
Gwen walked in, the woman behind her, and said, "Hello, Professor Dumbledore. I'm Gw--"
"Gwenavere Belafore, the new Charms Mistress." he replied, looking behind her to the darker haired witch and winked. He took Gwen's hand and kissed it in a very gentlemanly way.
"Yes, I am." she replied, shaking his hand after he kissed hers.
I see you're busy," the woman behind Gwen said, turning to leave. "I'll come back when you're not." With that, she left, closing the door behind her before either of the other occupants in the room could argue.
"Um...So, how are you, Headmaster?" Gwen asked, taking a seat in front of his desk.
"Oh, please. Call me Albus." he said, offering a sherbet lemon. "Care for one?"
"Alright, Albus, Yes, thank you." Gwen replied, taking a sweet. "They're quite addictive." She smiled.
"Yes, they are." Albus chuckled. "I'm doing well. The Minister of Magic drops his hat, and I have to go over and pick it up, dust it off, and place it on his head so he'll stop crying, but that is normal business. And you?"
"Oh, I'm doing alright." she answered, grabbing her handkerchief out of her pocket and sneezing. "Getting adjusted to the climate around here. I'm not used to the...well, whatever it is, I'm not used to it." She laughed softly.
"Yes," Albus nodded. "Scottish weather can be quite difficult to get used to if you're not from around here."
"Oh yeah." She laughed softly again. "New Orleans' weather is a bit more humid and hot." She sneezed again. "I think I should be making my way to my rooms." She stood and shook his hand again. "Um...Where are my rooms?"
"Ah, yes." Albus chuckled and popped another sherbet lemon in his mouth. "The door behind your desk in your office. You're classroom is on the 3rd floor. There is a sign." He smiled.
"Thank you, sir. Have a good day." She said this and finished her goodbye, then left for her classroom.
This is going to be an interesting year. she thought as she found the 3rd floor, and walked into her classroom.
It had two book shelves, an oak desk, and an oak chair. She smiled and pulls five little bags out of her pockets. She cast an enlarging charm on them and floated them into her rooms. Very interesting indeed.
Author's Note: I promise, this will go somewhere. I'm just having troubles writing. Review please! It will help me update faster.
