Just come back from watching GOF for the second time (I love that film so much) there was a huge trailer for the new Maggie Smith film with Rowan Atkinson in and it looks brilliant and so funny (SPOILER!!) "You can't just kill people because you disapprove" "That's what my Doctors said, it's the one thing we couldn't agree on." Maggie as a murderer!!! Classic, the film looks like it's going to be amazing but then it is Dame Maggie Smith why shouldn't it be !!

I watched the trailer for this movie last week and I rolled through the whole thing. I dislike Rowan Atkinson but if Maggie is really the main focus of the story like the trailer leads you to believe it is going to be VERY FUNNY.
My only problem is I can't find a US release date. If anyone sees one please let me know!

Was there a UK release date with the trailer? I haven't seen much promotion for it, but watched the trailer online. That only had the Australian date, tho.
BTW, Patrick Swayze will be on Jonathon Ross this Friday talking about this film, for anyone in the uK who's interested...

From what I have found here: europeanfilms.net/upcoming/keepingmum.htmlit looks like the UK release date is Dec 2nd. BTW if you haven't seen the trailer you get to it from the link above just scroll down the page and look at the 03/11/05 new item.

I've saved the trailer on my Windows Media Player and have just watched it for the fifth time. It's so great, Maggie looks awsome, "scary poppins" indeed! I'm so excited, I'm going to go see Pride and Prejudice tonight!

Hmmm...seems like the Germans will be last in line this time - which is quite sad: but there is a release date for Germany as well: March 23rd, 2006 And I can so not wait - "Scary Poppins" *giggle* gotta love Mags...and with a reference to my beloved other Dame... I'm happy...

Hooray! It's on at the cinema round the corner! I'm amazed by how little publicity it's had. No review on Film 2005, barely mentioned on Jonathon Ross last Friday (although they did show a clip of Patrick Swayze and Mags)...no reviews/mentions in the Sunday Times Culture section - nothing but a large cheezy advert on the back. I wonder if it will make any money here.

Ooh, someone found a US release date! When I checked the IMDB there was no date listed and I was sooooo upset. I haven't seen any adverts yet, but I'll be watching. All you lucky sods in the UK who get to see it first let us know if it's as fun as it looks.

I have seen so many clips of Mags in this film and I do believe she seems to be on fine form again....one liners and stealing the scenes from people without even trying.

As angeldust said she was going to review it, I shan't go into too much detail, but I have just seen Keeping Mum. I enjoyed it, and Mags was really good. It's not the most hilarious film I've ever seen, but I think most people would like it. Kristen S-T is great, but I can't quite work out why they cast Rowan Atkinson, as it's a bit of straight man role. I'll be interested to hear what others thought.
Mags definitely had the best bits, and she attacked them with relish. It was worth seeing just for her. Probably only for her really...

I figured out the twist before it was revealed though!
Mags was great, stole the scenes as usual!

As promised here is my review SLIGHT SPOLIER WARNING
I actually did quite like the film. I thought Maggie was amazing her character both highly entertaining and rememberable. I’m quite sure this movie was aimed for a certain sense of humour and I can imagine that there will be quite a few people who won’t enjoy it. The film is typically twisted English comedy, especially the need for Tea after ever main occurrence that is just terribly true and of course the brutal love of slapstick. I agree the twist wasn’t much of one but this is a comedy film not a suspense or drama and to be honest it wasn’t really that important and the film could have existed with out it. I loved the fact that Grace’s actions were actually given a reason and had quite a positive outcome and the film actually ended with a murder I mean how cool and original is that? This film isn’t laugh out loud crying funny (although there were places where I did just that but I have a twisted sense of humour) but more the kind of comedy that makes you grin. I would recommend going to see it if only to see Maggie Smith and Rowan Atkinson (who has definitely managed to break the image of Mr. Bean) on top form and perhaps see if your humour is a sick as mine and the directors.

I watched it on Saturday. Some obvious twists but clever ones, and the acting was all brill... Maggie was great! Her expressions and quotes were just fantastic. Kristen S-T was very good too.
