I was just browsing the HP Lexicon and while looking through the list of links to interviews and what's considered canon I came across this: (Edited that so it became a quote, I forgot the bracket at the start of the quote tag *blush*) So that implies JKR actually drew him with one and intended for him to have one, although she didn't actually say so in the books... Can you imagine Snape with a goatee? I don't see him with one but it's something to think about. The passage was taken from www.hp-lexicon.org/about/sources/site_sources.html. What do you all think?

Hell no. I mean Alan Rickman with a goatee = wrong and would ruin one of the only reasons I even consider watching the films But seriously, no, it wouldn't suit his character and would remind me way too much of karkaroff and their personalities are so different it would be weird, especially since they have connections. And his character generally quite cold and evil, and a goatee just doesn't seem right at all... i hope she changed her mind about Snape since she never wrote it into the books.

Nooooo Alan Rickman with a goatee... NO
I also agree with Amy... a goatee would be so Karkaroffy!! And pardon me but you cannot compare Karkaroff with dear Snape!

Order of the Pheonix, US edition, has a picture of Severus and Sirius with wands drawn. I think this is the occulmency chapter where Sev visits headquarters. Severus has a goatee in this picture but I always ignored it because in my mind he has always been cleanshaven.

He is cleanshaven. I refuse to accept he has a goatee and it never be mentioned. And I refuse to picture Alan Rickman with a goatee. Futhermore I don't think it'll ever change, my mental picture of Snape before the films has always been one of the clearest and it's completely different to Alan Rickman and he doesn't have a goatee!
