Bloody Baron

I was just wondering something last night. Hermione said there was no such thing as wizarding nobility, right? If that's the case, and his title is authentic, then the Bloody Baron would have had to be muggleborn. How did he end up in Slytherin, and could it have had anything to do with his death?

Slytherins can be muggle born, or half muggle, look at Snape and Tom Riddle. It's only the Deatheaters who JKR said had to be pureblood, which is why not a lot of people thought that Snape could be the Half Blood Prince. (It is another one of her Hitler metaphors.)
