According to the Leaky Cauldron, the role of Bellatrix Lestrange has been recast. Helena Bonham Carter will portray her because Helen McCrory is now pregnant.
I don't mind this cast change because I think she's a good choice for her. For those who are unfamiliar, she was in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, A Room with a View, Frankenstein, Merlin miniseries, and more. She's also Mrs. Tim Burton, who is a fave director of mine. :-)
Not that I didn't think Ms. McCrory would have done a good job, I'm just more familiar with Helena. I really wanted Tilda Swinton to play Bella, especially after seeing Narnia.
Anyone have any thoughts?

i´ve already read that on hpxperts... and there it said that it´s already as good as sure that she´ll take over. Well, I´m not really happy for that because I can´t stand her...it´s bad she´s chosen, at least bad to me... I know her from "A room with a view" and "Where Angels Fear to Tread" (both good movies) but I think she´s not good enough to "stand" the other brilliant actors in HP...

I don't particularly think Helena Bonham Carter is a bad actress but I'm not too keen on her. Perhaps she'll be okay in HP; I'll give her a chance. If she's rubbish, at least she only plays Bellatrix (I saw this headline and thought they'd sacked Maggie or something like that!) and it'll be easier to hate her. We never know, she may be fantastic.

I'm not very keen of Helena Bonham Carter either... even so, I can picture her as Bellatrix. I'll give her a chance.
And about Maggie still negotiating... Wikipedia (Maggie Smith): Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, 2007, Minerva McGonagall (expected)
I'm hope we'll see her on the 5th movie *fingers crossed*

I didn't mean to give everyone a fright! I think Maggie will stick around for all the films. Didn't she joke in an interview once that the Harry Potter movies were like a pension? It's a definitie paycheck for a couple more years. :-P Don't remember where I heard that.
It seems I'm the only one who thinks that Helena will be fine as Bella. I'm not a huge fan, but I think she's capable of pulling it off. I wasn't too sure about Ralph Fiennes, but he totally surprised me. I guess we'll just wait and see.

I can't wait till the next movie. My boyfriend keeps saying I'll cry when Min gets hit by the stunners and he's probably right. I and in the 6th one when Dumbledore dies Back on point about Helena B.C I agree with Nerva. Her face dosn't seem right too me. I read on Wikipedia that Elizabeth Hurley was considered for Bella. Can't picture her as Bella. Donsn't look right too me. Sje looks too sweet and nice. Not that I don't like her as an actress but she just isn't right. Like the dumb idea my cousion had if they replaced Maggie they'd have Julie Andrews play Min. (my cousion is an idiot) Anyone agree with me? **Endora

Julie Andrews American? Nah, she's a Dame just like Maggie. I adore Julie, but I would probably hold a grudge against anyone if they took over playing Min. lol I dunno why I worry about Maggie not being in the film because she seems to enjoy playing the part of Minerva McGonagall so well.

Maggie is the only one left that I think it perfect for her role. The rest of the cast is ok to really good but not perfect.

Richard was perfect as Dumbledore much better than that creep we're stuck with now. He's Amercian for Merlin's sake. Dosn't sound English and him and Maggie together yuck. Ew Ew Ew. For fanfictions I will always picture Richard.

Actually Michael Gambon is Irish. JK Rowling gave strict orders when they started filming the series, that only British (or at least UK) actors be cast. (Apart from other ethnic characters like Krum and Madame Maxime of course.)
I do prefer Richard though. In look, voice, and personality.

For fanfics, I too picture Richard. He was just pretty much exactly what I pictured being Dumbledore. I've been trying to picture Michael Gambon in fics, but it doesn't seem to fit as well. I'm not saying that Michael doesn't do a good job, but Richard will always be my Dumbledore.

I had entertained the idea of Peter O' Toole as Albus, only because he has those beautiful blue eyes. I also believe he was good friends with Richard Harris. But oh well.

I just found this on IMDB actually:
"Following his death, many of his family members wanted friend Peter O'Toole to take the role of Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)."
It was in Richard Harris' biography on the site.

But he probably didn't want to, because he'd already played Gandalf ... Julie playing Min ? No ... I love and adore Julie, but I think she would just be wrong for the role ... As for Helena playing Bellatrix, we'll have to see ... I've only seen her in "Room with a view" and thought she was doing okay, but of course next to Maggie it's hard ( if not impossible ) to be as good as she is ... That might've influenced my opinion about Helena in a negative way ...

I thought Sir Ian McKellen would replace Richard Harris as Dumbledore (every time I see him Dumbledore comes to my mind)... but when I suggested that, my boyfriend (an obsessed LOTR fan) told me I was mad. Ian McKellen is a synonymous of Gandalf.
About Julie playing Min? Mmm... I don't think so! I love Julie but Julie as Min is like imagine Maggie Smith kissing Captain von Trapp... NO!

I got all excited that they might have replaced Michael Gambon then... And I am saying he doesn't do a good job, he's shocking. Richard Harris will always be Dumbledore!
(I dont' actually know who Helena is either)
I disagree, what about Robbie Coltrane, Alan Rickman(!), Zoe Wannamaker(sp), JULIE WALTERS! Omg, she truly is perfect, as perfect for Molly as Maggie is for Min.

I think I'd still be disappointed if anyone left their roles. Well, except maybe I could handle someone besides Michael Gambon. *hangs head*

Robbie Coltrane, Alan Rickman, Zoe Wannamaker(sp), Julie Walters. Ok add Julie Walters and Robbie Coltrane to my list but Alan are just really good in my book. Somehow I just pictured Snape well just different. As far as acting Alan is perfect for Snape I just picted him looking different. Like darker and more slimy.
