Nerva, I think you may be right about HBP seeming like a fanfic. I'm pretty sure that if JK reads fanfics then she has come across some MMAD ones. In all honesty, MMAD is definatly one of the more "realistic" ships. Think about it... What is the reason most people don't get into the MMAD ship when they like just about everything else? Because they're "old". We don't see it that way, and I don't think that JK would see her characters being that way either. I dunno if I'm making sense here, but I hope you get my point.  |

She must have read a very good fanfic (MMAD of course) before writting OotP! *wink* Nerva Definatly! And exactly the reason I'm currently rereading that book.  |

It is pretty cool that JK likes fanfiction...I tend to dislike authors who refuse to let people write fanfiction for their stories. If I were an author, I'd think of it as a hell of a compliment.

I think it also shows that she wants to encourage other authors. Playing with someone else's character's, regardless of whether or not the fic is AU, is a good way to build up various writing skills. And, like ravenhaired said, it is a massive compliment that people are enamoured enough to want to spend so much time in the world JK has created.

Well... I know that she generally tolerates the fanfic thing... but apparently some site has had to close down cause of the lemons. Guess she's not too fond of those... which is kind of understandable, given the fact that she wrote the books for kids in the first place.

Fanfiction could even be helpful to authors writing a series or something. I mean, you're likely to sell more books if they go in the direction that most people want them to. *cough* Dumbledore's not dead *cough* Lizz |

I am sure i read an online interview with JKR where she said she had been on some message boards and posted..I don't think she said which sites though.*runs away to try and find out*
