Order of the Phoenix Book vs. Movie

What parts of the 5th book would you most like to see in the movie, and what parts do you think they will most likely change or take out?

I confess I actually had to look up the OotP calendar on HP Lexicon to answer this question, as it's been months since I last read that book. When I do pick it up, it's usually only to flick through it to scenes including Albus and Minerva.
(maybe a feeeeew others... just a few, mind)

I definitely want to see the "He will not be single-handed!" scene, and I do actually think they will include that, as it was the part in which Dumbledore fesses up to being responsible for the DA.
I'd like to see how they enact the stunner scene, too- they might leave that out, because it didn't have a major effect on the book's plot, but they might leave it in, too, as it involved Hagrid being sacked.
Unfortunately I doubt they'll have the part in which Minerva returns to the school, as it didn't really affect Harry , although it was an amusing scene and they might perhaps put it in.
They'll definitely have the Dementors at the start and Harry's hearing - and probably Harry's kiss with Cho, as that was a huge revelation. And maybe the visit to Madam Puddifoot's as that was where they broke up. Ha, Cho. I always hated her, not out of jealousy (ha, I think not) but because she's such a wimpy person.
Perhaps they may leave out some of Umbridge's "Educational Decrees"? She put up a lot. But the Quibbler one is likely to be included.
I think minor details will be excluded in this film. It's a hugely long book so they'll probably only put in the major scenes and other parts they can afford to show, because they can't have a 5-hour film. Sadly this may mean that they cut out some of the unnecessary but best and funniest parts of the book.
This scene isn't ADMM but I'd like to see the scene in which Ron and Hermione are made prefects, not in a haha-Harry way, but because it was an emotional scene and I want to see how the actors show the characters' feelings. When the first three films came out, I (as a devoted and biased HP fan) proclaimed that all the acting was marvellous, but recently I have accepted that it isn't true. Especially in the last two films, DR seems to be kind of zombie-ish, so I'd like to see how (and if) he handles this, and of course the part in which Harry trashes Albus' office. This is a really emotional book and I can't help but wonder if he's up to the challenge. (Say hello to my inner cynic!)

I'm thinking that they will take out most of the D.A. meeting scenes. And unless they add Hermione's S.P.E.W. in this film (since they left it out of the 4th), there will be a lot of little details left out of the movie, such as the clothes that Hermione made for the elves.

I'm really hoping they leave in the "He will not be single-handed!" part. I'm thinking they will, and I can't wait to see it. hehe So sweet.

Btw, this is a bit OT, but does anyone remember in the book when Minerva takes Harry and Ron to Dumbledore's office after Harry has the dream about Ron's father, and it says that Dumbledore's "penetrating light-blue eyes" were "fixed intently upon Professor McGonagall"? I know I'm lame, but that is like one of my favorite lines of the whole book. lol

I don't remember that - as I say it's been ages since I read that book; the last time I fully read it was even before I signed up on ff.net, let alone before I was introduced to the world of ADMM! - but I can definitely see why it's one of your favourite lines! I'll have to look it up.

I agree with most of what has been siad so far and although I highly doubt it will be put in, I want to see the part where Harry gets career advice from McGonagall. I love the argument she puts up with Umbridge.

I found it was difficult to watch movies based on my favorite books. Like I loved the third book for the animagus storyline. But they totally cut that out and invented stuff which made me hate the movie |(wolf call, anyone? moving whole castle and ground?) But I like the fourth movie better than the book because I felt the book, goes so slow will nothing moving forward until the last hundred pages. (mybest friend disagree strongly) The movie had the visual. I think the thing I am look forward to in the fifth movie is Remus, Sirius and Tonks. But Snape andMcGonagall scene in the hall w/ Draco and Harry would be fun to watch.

I'm trying not to think about it. OotP is my second favourite, I know they'll butcher it, just like they did PoA. I've decided I'll just go to see Minerva/Albus moments

The cough drop bit!!!!!!!! That just has to be in I can envision Minerva doing that so well. I would also like to see Min looking awkward in a muggle dress.

I agree, angeldust. I definatly want the coughdrop part, and I'd love to see Min in a Muggle dress (even though I doubt they'll leave the dress part in).

They HAVE to put the coughdrop part in. I mean that was like my favorite part of the book. Well a tie with the "He will not be single-handed!" part. They need to put both of those in.

i have always been dissapointed in the movies, they tend to take out the best parts! And more of them are MM/AD... or at least those are the ones i notice... even tho there are only like 2
but i want to see the "he will not be single handed" I think that everyone here would like to see that. lol. but otherwise i want to see the DA scence. and all that kinda stuff... and I want to see ALL of the minesty parts! They will end up cutting alot of that out whitch is not kewl. and all the fighting. and they wont have a lot of people "luna" and all them going to the minestry. They will cut out so much! I hate to think about it!
