M. Night Shyamalan to direct Movie 6 or 7?

Hey, thought you guys might be interested in discussing this. Some new surfaced earlier this week about the possibility of M. Night Shyalaman directing either HP Movie 6 or 7. He has given an exclusive interview to the good people at pottercast.com which will be released on Sunday Evening. The quote below is from their site:

M. Night Shyamalan was asked earlier this week by ComingSoon.net if he would consider directing a Harry Potter; he said he'd been offered the first film, but at the time was working on Unbreakable and so couldn't consider it; he also said that "it needs to be kind of handed over, adoption papers and everything."

Here he clarifies that he would treat J.K. Rowling's source material as "sacred."

"I would be the greatest protector of an author's stuff," he said. "Especially things that I respect, that I know there's inherently magic in it. I would be very wary of screwing it up, so I would be very careful….There's no way that it would be missed by lack of effort or lack of care or lack of attention. I would be giving it every single iota...I would cherish it."

Misisng out on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone "haunts me," he said, "because in some ways it feels, like, perfect. A literal perfect match.

So what do you guys think of him as a choice for directing a Harry Potter movie? Personally I really admire most of his work, and I would be very interested in seeing how he managed a harry potter film. I honestly think that he would do the story justice! He certainly sounds keen enough ;D

That would be awesome. M. Night Shyamalan makes the best movies. He'd make it all scary and suspicious.

I don't know who he is but hell yes. He actually cares that it's based upon a book!!! ;D

That would be FANTASTIC! He's one of my FAVORITE directors, and whomever did the fourth one, was not that good. Anyone know if that person is doing the fifth as well?

I honestly cannot say that I have seen any of his work before, but I have high hopes at this point!
It might also interest you to know that there is a new script writer for movie 5. Michael Goldenburg (www.imdb.com/name/nm0325533/) is replacing Steve Kloves for Order of the Phoenix. Personally, I will be interested to see what Mr. Goldenburg gives us! I am not a big fan of Kloves' work with Potter.

Well, too bad about M. Night Shymalan not directing because even though I never cared too much for his type of movies, he always seemed to do a great job at what he did. I haven't seen any of David Yates's work either, but I'm hoping it'll be good. Yay for a new script writer! Maybe he can do the 5th book justice (and leave the "he will not be single-handed!" part in! ;D ). All in all, I'm pretty excited about the 5th movie and the new people working with it.

I'm excited too!!!! Just to clarify - M. Night was never considered for movie 5. He was only recently talking about doing 6 or 7.

I've never seen any of M. Night Shyamalan's films but they all look pretty good (except for Lady in the Water, I wasn't too keen on that, and the boring trailer didn't really help).

Even if he does direct it and it turns out bad, there are rumours (and rumours are good enough as movie 5 hasn't even come out yet) that Christian Coulson will be playing Tom Riddle in the movie of HBP. Don't know about anyone else but that'd certainly cheer me up
