Sooooo.....I know I haven't posted much here, if at all, but I'm Katie and I visit the site quite often to lurk and read. I know we're all disappointed about the lack of McG's screen time in OoTP, and since we have the same director this time, I'm sure hoping she doesn't get squeezed out of HBP too!!
I was wondering if we should all sign a petition saying that we love Maggie/McG and we want her to have more screen time--of course, we'd have to figure out where to send it (to the director and studio, obviously, so it couldn't be THAT hard). I'm not sure if it would do any good, but we could try. I'd like to take charge of this if anyone is interested; I'll write a letter stating our "purpose" and what we would like to see, and post it on here, and if you guys like it, then we'll work out a way for everyone to "sign" (maybe first and last name plus email address?) and then I would be happy to print it and get it mailed.
I think we could get a lot of names from this board as well as the Maggie fans on several message boads and other HP fans who love McGonagall!
Please let me know what you think of this idea!

I hate to be a wet blanket, but they've probably already written the script - or at least have a vague idea where they are going with it, and a few hundred people writing a petition as opposed to the millions who are going to watch it isn't going to prompt them to change it.

maybe...but what if there are more than a few hundred people? What if it works?

So would I. She really needs to be in the movie more. She plays an important role in Harry's life and Maggie is a great actress.

It might be written in the script, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be in the final cut of the film. Case in point, the images of McGonagall in a wheelchair in OotP. Obviously it was in the script but was most likely cut for time or for content purposes. Also, the script for HBP is done and will not be reworked due to the WGA strike.
The most you can hope for is that DH is made into two films. So much of the books are cut from the films, I honestly doubt there is going to be much of McGonagall in the final two films. While she may be an important character in the books, she has been relegated to nothing more than a bit player in the movies.

yeah, if the movie is for definate getting made into 2 parts, we'll def see mcgonagall in action. Harry defending her(the curse he performs), the rebellion of her chasing snape, when harry's ***** she screams n reacts first n same for the end.
i really hoped was more of her in the 5th film as there was lot of mcgonagall in book yet they cut it n i cant recall much from 6th the now to know if there is enough for her there(well know shes filming so is few bits)
but def should be more (esp 5-stunner scene)

I feel like it's worth a shot. Even if we don't have a snowball's chance in hell, why not? We're the generation that existed while the books were being written, we remember what it was like before we knew how everything ended in the story. We're the only first generation there will ever be, so why not? It couldn't possibly hurt anything

Thanks for the support, guys!
I realize that they've already written the script, but what I'm hoping to do is have her NOT end up on the cutting room floor!!!!

tartangoddess, just beause they've already written the script doesn't mean they can't stick her in some scenes as an "extra" and give her some lines that fit the plot. i mean they added a whole new scene for HBP. Why can't they just add a little scene in? Even if it's in DH...Maggie needs more time.

Yes I do. I'm rather spastic with spelling unfortunately. But I'm still going to be angry if she doesn't kick butt!
