According to Muggle Net, Deathly Hallows will be split into to parts. Part 1 will be released in Nov. 2010 and Part 2 in May 2011. David Yates will be directing. www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/1504Thoughts? I am pleased David Yates is directing as he did a good job with OOTP, but am disappointed in the two movies. Movies are $5 at least these days to see them in the theater. I'd rather just sit through one long movie. I know they won't cut as much, but I don't think the first part will have Maggie in it and its a bit hard to see a Harry Potter movie without Maggie.

*gags* David Yates again? OtP was good but it was not the best they need to get the guy who did PoA back agian he did a good job. As my MSN name says I'm just slightly miffed about this it's not so much the waiting thing it's the having to wait 6 freaking months between movies. I am happy though that with hope there will be more Mini and the Meda/Ted scean with Harry/Hagrid will be there. After I see the first part to when I see the second part is going to be HELL though. Like Min putting up with Umbitch with no Alby hell.

I love the idea of DH in 2 parts, because that means really long movie. But Seperating the release dates? ? That's what freaking sucks. On the good ide, I have 3 mdnight premires to go to. But I'd rather they released them at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Faints* TWO PARTS? Not that I mind, but two? With different release dates? That's 18 bucks to watch this movie. It better be good... Or else... *cracks knuckles threateningly* David Yates is directing? I don't know whether to be pissed or overjoyed. OOTP is good, but I wish that the director of POA would be the director for DH. It's the last in the series (so far). I hope I would go out with a bang, not a whimper.

First of all, nooo, I don't want the director of PoA doing the movie. lol. That was the most boring movie, IMO, so I guess I'm *kinda* glad David Yates is doing it. haha
This really surprises me, for some reason. I mean, TWO movies?? This better be worth the money! If Minerva's not in the first one, I'll probably be bored for the whole film. lol. The thing that really surprises and disturbs me is the TWO release dates. That's a loong wait just to see (technically) one film!
Wow...

I totally agree with beMMADfabulous... I mean PoA was really boring (the worst movie of all 5 so far...) and OotP was way better although I can't stand Yates.... and I hope Maggie will be in the first part of DH otherwise I probably will fall to sleep but otherwise two parts mean really much details from the book, right?! I'm so looking forward to the Battle of Hogwarts... McG fighting... yeah!!

I was actually really hoping that Chris Columbus would come back for the last movie since he started the sega. I seriously was wishing, and hoping, and... Yeah, you get it. Uh..two parts? I'm thinking not. There goes my happiness...

I like that there will be two parts, that means more detail in the film about the book, but i hate that now i'll be dying to see the 2ed part right after seeing the 1st part!

I like the idea of having two parts, but why can't they show them at the same time with a break in-between? I wouldn't mind sitting through a, what, three hour movie? Means more detail anyway. I didn't like PoA at all, it was one of my least favourite movies, so i'm glad Yates is directing.

I love every part of this announcement. 1) Two movies: Who doesn't love this? Like DanRad said, it's just one driving story that can't have bits missing. 2) Two movies released six months apart: If you think about it logically, most people cannot sit through an action-and-emotion-packed five-hour movie (if you didn't know, David Heyman suggested that each movie would be two and a half hours long). And Warner Bros. can't just cater to the rabid fans, after all. HP is their biggest franchise, and they have to milk it for all it's worth. This way, everybody wins. And two separate HP movies released at the same time? ...What? Tell me how that makes fiscal sense. And don't tell me you actually want it to be over that fast. 3) Two movies released six months apart, both directed by David Yates: Yesssss. I'm drooling here. OOTP and PS/SS have been the only two movies that I felt had the same spirit/atmosphere as their respective books. But Chris Columbus? Too kiddie and too narrow. (While I'm on the subject, let me shoot down the other directors. Alfonso Cuaron? Surely brilliant, but he'd let his artistic license drown out what we want. Mike Newell? Ugh, GOF was an utter travesty.) David Yates is the man. That's all I can say. The real issue here is where they'll cut it off. I can't think of anywhere else than the Shell Cottage bit. At any rate, you guys realize how lucky we've been to have such great film adaptations, right?

Two movies, hmmm... That's fine with me, but how would they squeeze in Macca McG's parts? My butt is going to terribly itch from waiting at least years for the grand finale!
